221 Return 4

After speaking with Sofony's parents and giving them a heads up regarding the engagement, the two went out of the Silver family's main mansion. But instead of confronting Conrad, they went to what would serve as their new home, a luxurious penthouse within Central Alina.

This place was Gio's property, one of the very few which had escaped Leo Jones' bombardment before.

The man did not agree taking settling in one of the woman's houses, reasoning that it had to be him providing the roof for both of them. Sofony thought this was surely a man's pride at work. As a sensible fiancee, she should not make a big deal out of it.

'In a sense, it's funny. Yet at the same time more than enough to fill one's heart with extreme delight. A man who wants to take care of everything for his woman is someone to die for.'

Sofony was lazying on the couch when her phone vibrated. And no. It was not on her or in her pocket, but on top of the stained gla.s.s table. Maybe it would be more appropriate to say that it was her system who alerted of the incoming call.

With a frown, she parted with the comfortable seat. Gio who sat on the arm sofa nearby did not look at her as he was busy typing on his laptop.

But he opened his mouth to remind her. "It seems someone's in need of your help."

Sofony smoothed down the frown on her face.

After reaching out to the device and seeing that it was that gloomy guy, her grimace worsened. Like what Gio said, this annoying and stone-faced actor only knew to call her when he was in need of help.

'Chris got into trouble? Or ran out of points again? He has yet to repay me the last loan!'

With a raised eyebrow, she let the call go through.

Her cold voice rang before the other could say his h.e.l.lo.

"What is it? Say it quick."

The man has thankfully had a high regard to words and treated them like gold or even diamonds. He went to the point and said, "Points sent. With some extra. Pay for a new request."

The woman's tone changed three hundred sixty degrees opposite of her opening remarks. "Sure! Don't be shy to say it. As long as I can help!"

The s.h.i.+ft in her att.i.tude was very sharp. Just a second ago, she was very cold, directly showing through her voice that he was a bother.

Okay. For system users, money was not everything. But definitely, system points were.

Chris answered. "Please help me locate a host. Number 765."

"Oh? A new enemy? Seems like someone new to our ranks?"

The other did not reply. Sofony sneered. At her reaction, the man facing his laptop turned his head to her direction.

The female system user also went silent as she inquired about the person Chris was looking for.

Unfortunately, when the answer came from the system, it was negative.

The woman thought that if it was a hostile party and Chris had just made an enemy out of this person, then he was in quite a mess. Well, she was not worried because this guy's luck was at least double of hers, probably another stupid perks of being a half-host.

"Hmm. h.e.l.lo. Sorry. I can't get info about that individual. All related intel is blocked. If my guess is correct, it could only be because another of our kind is sheltering that 765."

The call ended with the actor acting weird, as if her failure to find his target was a great disappointment.

She didn't care though. Who knows what kind of game that guy was trying to play now? And speaking of games, was he also in another one? With that little sister of Amelia?

'That Alessa seems a good girl. If she succeeded in capturing the b.a.s.t.a.r.d, she will be very lucky then.'

Chris was the type to love crazily and will be an ultimate m.a.s.o.c.h.i.s.t if that was the only way to get close to the one he loves.

Didn't he torture himself with waiting for almost seven years? Fully knowing he was not even a rebound, only her crying pillow, but was still willing to lurk at her side?

And when the girl entered a relations.h.i.+p with a suspicious guy, didn't he do his best to guard her by watching that sc.u.mbag's gang?

She suspected that he got his mild-tempered AI because he tried to commit suicide when Felicity 'pa.s.sed away'.

Bats***t crazy... Considering that he was still a normal person back then.

'I'm guilty. But actually, all along, they don't suit each other.. so yeah. Also, aren't I always helping him to make up with that one? Therefore, I will never tell him about Steffy.'

She then dismissed the matter and went back to watching her man work.

It didn't take long for Gio to shut down his laptop though.

With widened eyes, she asked, "You're done already?"

Gio nodded with a smile. "The materials have been prepared beforehand. All I did is released everything to everyone who would be able to appreciate it."

She stared at him and wondered... Just what could have made him show such a meaningful smile like that to her?

The man noticed her expression hence he laughed and said,

"Don't think much about it. I just lent a helping hand to someone..."

Sofony beamed at him innocently, snuggling into his arms. She wisely chose not to comment about the demonic grin which he seemingly couldn't erase from his face.

...

8:05 pm. Central Alina. Albarez' mansion. The first floor, inside a workroom there.

Conrad's secretaries exchanged glances when their computers' screen suddenly froze.

Quite a huge problem considering that they were in the middle of completing a request from their master.

"Sir, I received too many emails," one of them said to Conrad's closest confidant, Old Joe.

Another secretary interjected. "Same here. I had to pull out the plug and restart the PC. It seems Sir Conrad's request will take longer since there's a need to recover the files first."

"The emails have the same subject."

One secretary added in his head, 'Yet the contents are different, different senders too, and each of them has creativity ranging from terrific to vomit-inducing.'

When the butler slash personal driver checked his own mail through his tablet, he also froze for a few seconds.

If his guess was correct, all of them got the same type of messages.

All directed to their clan head too.

Just what sparked this craze?

None of the people present had any idea.

All they came to realize was that the nightmare had not yet ended.

Their youngest yelled an emergency causing all of them to gather around that secretary's computer. That was when they saw what the current news was reporting. The sounds were so loud because the youngest mistakenly hit the upper b.u.t.ton for the volume.

"I love you, Sir Conrad!"

Everyone's faces soured at the first thing that echoed in the air from the speaker.

"I've followed all the steps. My bank account's set up. I've also filled out the doc.u.ments from the civil bureau that you instructed me to process. Please marry me now!"

The face of the woman changed to another's a couple of times, but the messages were no different. This continued for almost a minute until the reporter's face flashed again.

One of them looked back to check if the door was tightly closed. Afterward, he exchanged glances with the others before cursing out,

"F*ck. A confession virus? Of women ranging from teens to even those in their menopausal years?" Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.

With an odd expression on his face, Old Joe said,

"We have to investigate this meticulously. For now, for security purposes, let's not tell about this to Sir Conrad."

Everyone else in the room nodded. All while wondering when did their fifty-six years old employer become so charming to receive millions of love emails, public confessions, and marriage proposals...

Was it April Fool's Day today? Why did all, cough, the gold diggers decide to come out altogether for Conrad Albarez?

Such a puzzle...
