Chapter 52: Volume 4 Chapter 24.1

As I stared at the old woman in front of me, I noticed something amiss. I am confident enough to find and detect a presence even without the help of magic, but even in this small room, I didn't notice her presence at all. That is until she spoke. Meaning, she hid so well that she could've stabbed me in the back without me knowing at all. Or maybe...

"I'm sure I was alone when I entered. That means, you followed me as soon as I entered the room. Why?"

"As soon as you entered the room?" The old woman chuckled. "Darling, I've been following you since you entered Asgard."

That makes it even worse. Have my senses dulled?

"I don't like being followed. And I certainly don't like being tricked even more. Show your true self." I slowly started to relax. Now that I'm aware of her, she can't hurt me anymore.

"Are you sure?" She narrowed her eyes. "I'm trying to protect you--"

"By hiding yourself?" I scoffed. "Yeah, sure. Who's protecting who?"

Perhaps taunted, the old woman in front of me suddenly vanished. She was just a projection. So that's it; I didn't feel her presence at all because it was just an illusion.

And then, I felt another presence trying to forcefully enter the room. It was a faint presence, but I can feel the powerful magical energy inside her. This room is enchanted with a strong seal to prevent outside interference. I can bypa.s.s the seal too, but I think it will take some time. She, on the other hand, might've familiarized herself with this type of sealing magic a long time ago.

That's why, a second later, a woman teleported right in front of me. I can't really describe what she looks like, but imagine the height of 'beauty'. Every feature of her face was created to perfection. Arched eyebrows, emerald green eyes, straight-edged nose, sultry full lips, and flawlessly white skin. There's simply no flaw, none at all.

A celestial G.o.ddess, so to speak.

"I always find it troublesome to break into this place." She faintly smiled, but even that turned out to be the most beautiful smile I've ever seen.

"Now I see why you're trying to protect me." I casted a spell to protect my mind and to boost its ability to react.

"I'm sorry, I can't control it. I was just born this way." Her eyes formed a crescent as she apologetically smiled.

"Woman, what should I call you?" I can finally withstand the charm that she was exuding. It was perhaps the most powerful charm that I have ever seen in my two lives; even more powerful than the Elf Queen I met before.

"In my long life of living, people called me by different names. Freyja, Iduna, Idun, Gefn, Mardöll. I am all of these things."

"The G.o.ddesses known for their astonis.h.i.+ng beauty?"

"Yes. That is right." She twirled her golden hair with her fingers seductively as she spoke. "But the name that I like the most was, the name that people gave me for who I am."

The Enchantress, Amora. I see.

"So, why are you following me? Your charms don't work on me. My magical capacity is greater than yours."

"Unfortunately, you're right..." I can hear a bit of excitement in her voice. "But that also means you're quite talented, no? I have never seen a mortal with such strong magical energy. It's weird that you can overpower G.o.ds despite being a mortal, isn't it? For me, it is."

I see where you're going with that logic.

"That's quite ironic, asking this 'mortal' that you speak of." I proceeded to open the book that I picked up. I lost the little interest that I have on her. "Now, please leave. I won't teach you anything."

"You're quite stingy, aren't you?"

"Unlike you, I don't have all the time in the world." The book that I picked up is all about learning Asgard's ancient runes.

"I can give you things that Odin can't."

"I'll get it myself, thank you for the offer though." I continued reading.

Ancient runes in Asgard is their primary way of enchanting things. It might be the reason why--

"You're looking for 'them', right?"

I froze. Turning around, I squinted my eyes. "Alright, speak."

"Can you hide me from 'him' first? This will only be between the two of us~" Amora winked. I followed and included her in the range of my interference barrier. Now she's also hidden from Heimdall.

Amora then spoke, "In exchange for teaching me your magic, I will lead you to a place where n.o.body else can enter forcefully aside from me. The place where treasures with unimaginable powers are stored."

"Odin's vault? Take me." I agreed almost instantly. Looking at her expression and the way she tried to hide from Heimdall, I can confirm that she wasn't sent here by Odin. I know this character the most; I've seen one like her a lifetime ago. These kinds of women only believe in themselves, so they will only take actions if it can benefit them.

Most importantly, they only see men as tools to be used. I can almost figure out why people gave her the name Enchantress. She would seduce men, use them, and throw them in the dumpster after she's done.

However, I overpowered her in terms of magic; which, I'm guessing, is her main ability. I don't know if she's working alone or not, but I'm sure she's aware of how powerful Morgana and Karla is. That's why, she realized almost instantly that she can't do the same to me, so she can only offer a trade.

"If we're going inside, we must go unnoticed. We mustn't take anything out of the vault. The moment a treasure is taken, Odin will undoubtedly notice its disappearance. These are my conditions." Amora gravely spoke.

To be honest, I'm still tempted even if that's the case. Heck, I don't know whether or not I can even enter the vault in my time here. I tried to think of ways ever since Loki told me about the vault, but I still came up with nothing. Until now.

Odin's vault is full of treasures that can possibly cause the destruction of Asgard, or what they called the prophecy of Ragnarok. Even if I can only get a glimpse of the treasures inside there, that is enough. At least the threats that I will face in the future will substantially decrease.

Right now, I still lack the power necessary for me to compete against the higher beings. I need to be equal to beings even higher than Odin. That's my ultimate goal. Then perhaps, I might just successfully get back my mother from Death.

"Fine, I'll teach you my magic. However, it is up to you whether you absorb it or not. This is my condition."

"It sounds fair to me, Darling~" Amora chuckled. I won't deny that I couldn't help but stare at the two mounds that bounced up and down as she giggled. "I'll take you to the vault first, and then I hope that you'll honor our agreement."

"A man's word is worth a thousand gold. I won't renege on our agreement."

"Very well." Amora gracefully walked towards me. Just as I was wondering what she was doing, she suddenly embraced my neck. She closed her eyes and inched her face closer to mine. As I was frozen, our lips met.

I felt a strong force trying to take me away. I let it control me and at that moment, we disappeared from the library.

Amora opened her eyes. Our lips parted, forming a silver bridge that was quickly cut off. She slowly backed away.

"Is that really necessary?" I doubtfully looked at her.

"No, but it was worth the shot." Amora licked her lips seductively.

She was just messing around. I shook my head and shrugged it off. Looking around, I studied the place and arrived on a simple conclusion.

"So this is Odin's vault. It's colder than I thought."
