19 Chapter Seventeen: God's Early Preparation

To prepare us before we permanently left England in 1995, not yet fully knowing that we were about to embark on a great adventure of faith, G.o.d brought us many new books. They came across our path in various ways, such as through friends and acquaintances, unbeknown to us preparing us for our new life. We suddenly encountered through these books the awesome testimonies of some of

G.o.d's faithful servants. They were real-life faith encounters and accounts of their lives, much like those in the Bible, but for our times, men and women wholly surrendering their lives in complete obedience to G.o.d's word. One of the books we were blessed to read was the faith account of George Muller. He was a Christian evangelist and director of the Ashley Down orphanage in Bristol, England. We read of how he built orphanages housing tens of thousands of children in England through prayer and faith in the nineteenth century. Another book was t.i.tled Exodus II, an account of the faith walk of Steve Lightle.

G.o.d sent us His word in so many ways and performed many wonderful acts to propel us forward into this new supernatural way of life previously unknown to us. What does living by faith day-to-day really look like in past and modern times? Having read some of the diaries of the faith of these believers left behind for us, and being so greatly encouraged and strengthened by their journey, we decided to keep a diary for some years of some of our day- to-day experiences.

We knew that our recollection of many events might fade with time. We did not want to forget how desperately we needed and relied on G.o.d so many times, and we wanted to instantly capture the sentiments of those moments. He faithfully always came through and will come through for you.

Recorded here are some of our day-to-day activities, written in quick scribbles in various notebooks.

We share some of these intimate details of our lives with you in order to encourage anyone who has received a "word" from G.o.d regarding their purpose and calling. If you desire to walk in complete obedience to Him, be conftdent that the G.o.d who calls you is faithful, and trust the G.o.d of the impossible in every area of your life. Obtain victory over doubt, fear, and any other spiritual warfare with unswerving, unwavering childlike faith in the everlasting word of G.o.d. Trust in the unchanging faithfulness of G.o.d's character. The G.o.d of Abraham, our father in the faith, is still the same G.o.d we believe in and serve today. Praise the Lord!

"It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when G.o.d called him to leave home and go to another land that G.o.d would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going." (Hebrews 11:8 NLT)

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8 NIV)

"Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us a.s.surance about things we cannot see." (Hebrews 11:1 NLT)

My husband Jide recorded the ftrst part of our faith diary while in London. He had to temporarily return there in 1999 to renew our paperwork after our ftrst sponsors reneged on their promise. Left with a huge immigration nightmare that lasted over a decade, we pressed forward into G.o.d's promise.
