Chapter 158 - When I Come Back

Later that day, Davi went back to her bed to take another nap. By the time she opened her eyes, it was already evening.

She sat up on her bed when she saw Sei's silhouette sitting beside the window, quietly gazing outside.

Davi just smiled the moment she saw him before she quietly s.h.i.+fted the blanket covers to leave the bed. She looked at Sei again and it seemed like he didn't notice her yet.

Thus, she slowly walked closer to him. She was thinking about startling him, but before she could reach him, the man suddenly turned towards her.

Sei was about to stand up from his seat when Davi leaped towards him and she too accompanied him to looked outside the window.

"What are you looking at?" she asked.

"The moon," he silently replied while his gaze was now locked unto her.

Upon hearing him, Davi then lifted her face and gaze at the moon above.

"I see… the moon's really pretty tonight too…" she said, but for some reason she paused. It was because a memory from yesterday suddenly flashed across her brain. She vaguely remembered that Sei told her that she was prettier than the moon. However, she was unsure if he really said it or if it was just her imagination.

Curious, Davi then gazed at Sei before she asked him.

"Last night… when I was drunk and dragged you into the middle of the road, I remember you said something to me… but I'm kind of unsure… what did you tell me that time?" she asked when Sei stared at her sincere and bright eyes.

And the next moment, he lifted his hand and he caressed her cheek.

"I said that… you're much more beautiful than the moon." He answered causing Davi to feel speechless as she just blinked three times before she could manage to speak again.

"What?" she asked again, still looking at him with disbelieving eyes.

"You're much more beautiful than the moon." He repeated and Davi's face immediately turned crimson red. Flabbergasted with Sei's words, her heartbeat began to race as well.

Davi felt speechless for a long while, but before she could speak again, Sei suddenly stood to wrapped his arms around her and embrace her.

That moment, Davi's words were stuck in her throat. It was because the way Sei hugged her seemed a bit different. It was as if he was seeking warmth and comfort from her. Causing Davi to reflexively raise her hands and stroke his back gently.

"Sei?" Davi called his name while he quietly leaned his forehead on her shoulder.

After a short while of silence, he raised his head and gazed at her.

"How are you feeling now?" he asked and Davi immediately answered him.

"I'm completely fine now." She smiled, trying to show him that she's already recovered and there's no need for him to worry about her anymore.

"Thanks to you nursing me… thank you for staying by my side… Thank you for taking care of me." She continued as she gazed at him lovingly.

"You're my wife. It's my responsibility to take care of you." Sei replied and Davi just blushed again. She started to realize that Sei seemed to be a bit different tonight.

'W-what's going? Why are his words suddenly being so d.a.m.n sweet?'

However, the next words that left Sei's mouth weakened Davi's smile.

"I'm… tonight, I'm leaving again." He confessed and the room fell silent for a while before Davi could ask him.

"When will you come back?"

"…I'm not sure."

"Ah, I see…" For some reason, an indescribable sadness and painful feeling started to carve its way into Davi's chest. That even though she tried her best not to show it, she just found it spreading to her throat, making it hard to continue talking.

Knowing what he had said, Sei embraced her tightly again. This time his hug seemed to be trying to comfort and soothe her saddened heart.

"When I come back, I have something to tell you." He whispered with a soft, low husky voice.

And upon hearing his words, Davi didn't know why but her heart started to flutter wildly. She felt as though, it was something extremely important, that she couldn't help but feel anxious and nervous to know soon.

However, Davi just bit her lower lip as she hugged him back tightly before she answered.

"Mm… I will wait for you."
