Chapter 88 - Soundly

By the time Davi opened her eyes, the sun was already streaming through the window. She was quite surprised since she had gotten used to waking up earlier than the sun ever since Sei left.

However, what shocked her more was the heavy, warm arm wrapped around her waist. Her senses instantly awakened and she was stunned.

Previously, it was always her who would have her arms wrapped around him and he was usually the motionless log that never changed his sleeping position throughout the night. Yet at that moment, the world seemed to have gone upside down.

For the first time ever, Sei was the one embracing her! Also for the first time ever, she actually woke up earlier than him.

That moment, Davi couldn't help but freeze. She could feel his slow breath, she could feel his warmth and the movement of his chest as he breathed in and out. This felt so surreal for her that she thought she was dreaming. The kind of emotion she was feeling was enough to almost knock her senseless.

Thankfully, she still managed to remain calm. She could tell that Sei must have been so tired for him to still be sleeping and thinking about this caused Davi to not move a single muscle.

Sei was lying slightly facing her while Davi was beside him with her head resting on his shoulder. Thus, a single move from her might wake him up instantly. She didn't want to do that so she remained as still as a statue. She didn't even raise her head to take a peek at him. She didn't have any idea what kind of work he'd been doing which was why she wanted him to just rest like this.

At the same time, she was indescribably happy. Happy that Sei seemed to finally loosen up his impenetrable guard. She was happy to finally see him sleeping soundly. So happy that even his slow and manly breathing turned into cute music in her ears.

Finding him sleeping so soundly like that just seemed as though he wasn't the cold frozen man who never smiled anymore.

Time pa.s.sed and the man finally awakened and as expected, he immediately froze the moment he realized he was hugging her. He remained frozen until the girl talked softly.

"Are you awake?" she asked and he finally snapped out of his daze. Davi was about to rise when he suddenly held her head and he gently buried her face on his chest.

Davi was taken aback by this but she soon realized what he was trying to do. Thus, she immediately and obediently cooperated. In that moment, Davi could hear the beating of his heart loud and clear, but when she felt him removing his mask and then putting the other one on, Davi suddenly felt a strange feeling as though her heart was just stung by something.

That moment, for the first time, Davi felt the afflictive frustration of being not allowed to see his face.
