“Phew, you sure are hard to kill…”

Chen Chen exhaled, his eyes seemed to glow with excitement as he said, “Even with my destructive powers, it'll be hard to kill this thing completely. Good thing I have the nanorobots to help me.”

At the drop of this mention, black mists slowly seeped out of the torn openings of the Consciousness Stealer's body. The cloud of mist seemed to possess lives on their own as they could be seen pouring back into the Consciousness Stealer after only just emerging.

The Consciousness Stealer kept swiping at this mist helplessly before resorting to wrapping its body with its tentacles. When it realized that its attempts were futile, it began tearing off chunks of flesh from itself as a defensive measure. Still, a large amount of black mist poured out of every crevice of its body. Chen Chen stood above the Consciousness Stealer from dusk until midnight and watched it struggle. After enough time pa.s.sed, its body seemed hollowed out and large peels of skin began tearing off. They tore off along with large columns of dark smoke sprouting out of its body. These clouds of smoke were darker than the night itself!

In the end, the Consciousness Stealer stopped resisting. The tentacles stopped struggling and rested lifelessly on the ocean as its body began to sink!

When the body of the Consciousness Stealer collapsed, it made a tremendous splash on the surface of the sea. The emerging black mist lost its vitality upon touching the water. There were nanorobots purposed for corroding metallic substances and there were also some optimized for carbon-based life forms or plastic. These nanorobots were bionic structures like microscopic ants. They would devour substances and convert them into resources so they could duplicate more copies of themselves. These nanorobots could replicate themselves endlessly until their program was terminated…

Chen Chen silently watched as the bloated corpse on the ocean slowly shrunk under the effect of the black mist. He waited all night and by the time the sun crept up the horizon on the next day, the final chunk of flesh of the Consciousness Stealer had corroded without a trace.

The Consciousness Stealer was erased. Not a single cell of it remained to prove it once existed on Earth as they were all swallowed by the nanorobots.

It was so overpowering that at one point Chen Chen considered getting out of this place. It was only a momentary thought while the sane part of his mind convinced himself to stay here and take in all of this psionic concentration!

At first, Chen Chen counted the seconds and minutes that pa.s.sed. As this went on, the sharp throb in his mind became so unbearable that he could not remain conscious anymore. His body and mind gave away. He tumbled from the sky above and into the ocean, creating a splash as he sunk into its depths!

The seawater came over Chen Chen's eyes and drowned out his consciousness. In the void of his mind, he saw something that glowed with a faint yellow. There was nothing in the world like it. It was surrounded by gray air currents with streams of blood-red bubbles gurgling around it. Then, something that he could not comprehend whether it was a sentient being or just a mere substance appeared amid this void.

Chen Chen's consciousness brushed past these bubbles obstructing his path and looked into the center of a vast blackhole-like ent.i.ty in the dancing void. Thousands of bright golden spots swirled inside the black hole!

The black hole along with its mult.i.tudes of beams of light flickered in the unending void with a gigantic ball of light at its center. The radiant ball of light outshone all the spots of lights hovering nearby it. It was the dazzling morning sun lighting up the night sky!

While Chen Chen was still trying to comprehend what he was seeing, the sun began to expand… It seemed like it was fueled by an unknown source of energy and with one giant surge, it doubled in size, then tripled, quadrupled!

Eventually, the sun exploded like a supernova would. It turned into a radiant burning meteor moments before its eruption and scattered into countless spouts of flames. The shockwave of its explosion scattered far and wide across the void…

“Could this be…”

Chen Chen finally realized what he was looking at, but his consciousness faded away after that.

After several minutes that seemed like an eternity. After what felt like several lifetimes of sleep, Chen Chen finally regained consciousness. He woke up on the seabed.

“Splas.h.!.+”

Chen Chen torpedoed out of the surface of the sea. The seawater that clung to his skin and his clothes did not evaporate but instead had the atoms of their existence erased by his Field.

“That took far longer than I expected.”

Chen Chen muttered.

“Sir Commander, you're finally awake!”

X-112's urgent voice came from the earpiece. “What happened to you just now? I've been calling for you for more than ten minutes! I was going to mobilize our forces and send a team underwater to rescue you!”

“Nothing much, just claiming some 'remnants' that rightfully belong to me.”

Chen Chen answered, “I've been scattering the psionic seed to all of human society to bolster my powers. It looks like the Consciousness Stealer is doing that same thing. That explains why it needs humans alive. Anyway, it has become feed for me despite its struggles…”

Chen Chen raised his right hand and looked at his palm. “In the past, I absorbed the psionic energy from the Consciousness Stealer through the power of the 'Consciousness Battlefield'. That was when I gained a part of Consciousness Stealer and in a way, was when I became the Consciousness Stealer.

“Now that I've killed this 'twin', its powers belong to me since we came from the same source…”

Chen Chen slowly pushed outward with his palms and created a powerful blast that launched into the sky and broke through the clouds, then went further onward to the ozone layer until it broke through into s.p.a.ce!
