Chapter 56 Part2

Once they had filled out all the paperwork, Cao Yang brought over a middle-aged man over. He was smiling in a friendly manner.

"Xiao Rou, come here," waved Cao Yang.

Xia Rou sped to his side.

"This is teacher Liu," he said.

"h.e.l.lo, Teacher Liu," greeted Xia Rou politely.

"You must be Xia Rou, good, good," smiled Teacher Liu.

Cao Yang smiled in response: "Then I'll entrust her to you. Please look out for her."

"No worries," Teacher Liu responded with a smile.

But she knew that this was how people at Cao Yang's level operated.

Teacher Liu asked warmly after how far along in her paperwork she was, and then called over the boy who was in charge of handling the paperwork.

He whispered a few things into that boy's ear and soon enough the boy sped her papers through the system and handed her the keys to her dorm.

The school had two dorm buildings: one new and one old. The old building only had six- and eight-person rooms without bathrooms. The new building had four-person rooms with individual bathrooms attached.

Both buildings were accepting new students, but where you were a.s.signed was all luck.

The key that Xia Rou received was obviously for the new building.

After bidding Teacher Liu farewell, Cao Yang carried the luggage and Cao An carried the blankets as they headed to the dorms. The two handsome men sandwiched the beautiful girl between them.

Today was registration day so parents were allowed in the building. The dorm keeper auntie did not stop them but also could not refrain from taking a few more glances.

Xia Rou had completed her paperwork first, so when they arrived at her room there was no one else there. The two men began to scan the room.

It was a four-person room with four beds, all of them lofted. Under each bed was a small wardrobe, a shelf, and a desk. They were all a set.

Cao An couldn't help but complain, "It's so small!" The room wasn't even as large as their bathrooms at home!

"Why not just stay at home? It barely takes an hour to get to your school!" he said.

"Both of you are still here. Of course it seems small," said Xia Rou.

They were both 1.8 meters tall and standing in the middle of the hostel room. Even if the room seemed s.p.a.cious before, it was packed tight now.

"Alright, you guys should go back now," Xia Rou said, driving them out.

Cao Yang didn't bother with her. He bent down and with a zip the bag opened. Before Xia Rou could react, he had made the bed.

Xia Rou's mouth dropped open to show an egglike shape.

On the other side, Cao An had already put on the pillowcases, and threw one side of the quilt cover to Cao Yang. The two worked together to tuck it in neatly.

Xia Rou was completely dumbfounded.

"You must have thought we don't know how to do this stuff, right?" Cao Yang let out a tsk. "We were raised in the style of the army since we were young. Even on the coldest days of winter we use cold water to wash our faces and brush our teeth. We've been through much harsher conditions when compared to you!"

If she were to compare the ability to take care of herself, both Cao Yang and Cao An would come out ahead 100 times better than her.

Xia Rou had been with Cheng Wan and then the Cao Family, raised carefully with love. When Cheng Wan was still alive, she taught Xia Rou to cook because Cheng Wan had some talent in cooking.

After Xia Rou arrived at the Cao Family, she didn't need to touch any work in the kitchen, so she probably had lost that bit of teaching.

"Enough!" Xia Rou was feeling depressed as she quickly took over, "Hurry and leave!"

That was unfair. Was there anything they couldn't do? Don't tell her that they were just excellent all around? Was there nothing they failed at?

Cao Yang was a little worried. "Are you sure you'll be fine alone?" He had never seen this little girl do any ch.o.r.es. He was really worried.

They had been beaten by Cao Xiong since their childhood. So the brothers had suffered and trained mentally and physically to be well-prepared. But Xia Rou, not even Cao Xiong but also Cao Yang and the brothers never even thought she should be taught the same.

All the men of the Cao FAmily had male chauvinism carved into their bones. All of them felt that Xia Rou should be treated like a delicate treasure and that was enough.

Xia Rou felt a little helpless.

She could admit that in the past she had been raised and pampered well. Because of this, she felt that she couldn't stand the thought of sharing a room with others in the dorm, so she listened to Cao Yang and just attended as an off-campus student.

After she left the Cao Family then, though she had hired an aunt to do the cleaning, she had taken some time to finally adjust to independent life.

Within that period, she couldn't count how many times she had cried, feeling wronged. She couldn't count the times she hid herself in her blankets because she missed the Cao Family, missing her big brother being by her side always, and missing the feeling of being carefully taken care of, right down to the most trivial details.

But in this life, she didn't want to be like that again. She didn't want to become someone mediocre with nothing to be proud of.

"Hurry—— Leave——" She covered her face in embarra.s.sment. "I'm not a baby!"

The two men had no choice but to sullenly leave.

That night, the Cao Family dining room held only Cao Xiong, Cao Yang and Cao An.

It was especially quiet, making their appet.i.tes falter. It felt as though something was missing.

The few men once again felt the difference between raising a girl and a boy deeply.

When raising a boy, you would fear that having not trained him enough, he couldn't bear the responsibility of being a man. When raising a girl, you would worry she would get wronged or bullied.

When she grew up and wanted to live in the dorms, you would still worry whether she was eating and sleeping properly.

"I wonder if Xiao Rou is used to eating the campus food?" sighed Cao An.

Cao Xiong remained silent for a moment before speaking to Cao Yang. "Later, call her and tell her if she doesn't like it, tell her to come home every day."

"…" Cao Yang gritted his teeth. "I called her already. She was already eating at the cafeteria. She told me the braised pork ball in brown sauce was delicious and that she was going to the library with her cla.s.smates… She sounded quite happy…"

Cao Xiong: "……"

Cao Yang: "……" Translated by The Novelst

Cao An: "……"

Although the dishes on the dining table were sumptuous, but somehow it felt dreary.
