35 Party

"Hah...these social events really are the end of me. Good thing white hair doesn't stand out among blonde hair, or else I would even have to dye it. I wish my dad was more like Mr. Mizuki. Just look at how good Boss has it.....she doesn't even have to walk outside."

Eugene muttered complaints to no one in particular while steadily striding down the elaborate and fancy hallway. Hearing another pair of footsteps, he quickly patted down his messy hair, straightened his tie, and smoothened out his outfit in a single breath. Wearing a bright smile and fixing his posture, he immediately changed his entire demeanor.

"Ahhhh! Mr. Eugene, so this is where you were! You're sooooo handsome, I'm a big fan! The party is about to start, I wanted to give you this as good luck!" A prissy-looking girl with thick makeup squealed while handing him a small package.

Eugene gently smiled in response.

"Thank you."

"You don't need it though, I just know that you'll do fabulously even without it! O. my. gosh. You're like a celebrity!"

"Haha, is that so."

The lady kept screeching while constantly throwing seductive glances towards him. Eugene listened to her silently and only said a few polite phrases back when questions were asked.

Right as his patience was reaching his limit, his personal phone loudly rang.

"Ugh, what troublesome person is ruining our time tog-"

"I'm terribly sorry to interrupt, but this is an important call. We can talk later."

Eugene flashed his dazzling trademark smile at the girl and left her to take his call. Looking at his screen, he stared at the unfamiliar number with caution.

How did a stranger get access to his private number? He never gave it out to people he didn't know.

"h.e.l.lo? How did you get this number?"

"Yo, it's pretty easy since you're the one that kept spamming it into my private messages."

Eugene's face brightened up after hearing the familiar voice.

"...! If it isn't my favori-"

"Right. So come out here and give me the information. I don't have all night."

He chuckled and ran his hand through his hair.

"But you know, the deal was that you had to ATTEND the actual thing. Not just sit outside."

"Not my fault I can't get inside in the first place, you have c.r.a.ppy security."

A small frown appeared.

"Hand over the phone."

Hearing a small rustling sound on the other side, he immediately decided to fire the incompetent guard that dared turn his Boss away at the door.

"Fired. Get out."

"S-sir I didn't kn-"

He silently clicked is tongue in annoyance.

"Why are you still here?"

"....Yes, sir."

Eugene wouldn't allow people that spoke against his Boss to work under him. Unacceptable.

"You could have at least told him the reason."

"I don't have words to waste on people like him. To think he would reject you at the door.....!"

"Yeah yeah okay."

Still brewing in annoyance towards the guard, he realized that the girl had already hung-up on him.

Before he forgot, he saved her phone number and set her profile picture to a photo he had taken secretly earlier at school.

"Hehehe....Boss sure is different than the others."

He stared at her number for a while longer before pocketing his phone.

Pus.h.i.+ng what happened to the back of his head, he confidently strode towards the stage with a genuine smile.

I silently stood in a lonely corner of the large hall while checking the Sapphire forums to pa.s.s the time....

Why am I here again?

I really hate parties...especially since Eugene's the one hosting it...

Well, he probably hates it just as much as me, I suppose I'm lucky that my dad never forces me to host these annoying social events. I would never be able to stand it.

Good thing no one is paying attention to me, or else I would be definitely forced to change into formal attire.

As I was busy playing with my phone, all the lights dimmed and the stage's spotlights turned on.

Whew~, fancy. As expected of a first-rate party.

Scanning my surroundings, I realized that the large banquet hall had been filled to the brim with wealthy and influential families everywhere.

No wonder the security guard acted as he did, he probably didn't even need his attendance list to know these people's names.

Look, there's the prime minister over there at the front VIP table sitting with....his son, wife, and a familiar-looking girl my age?

Oh wait, she's that new transfer student who came at the same time as Eugene.

If I recall correctly, her username is Tomoe. The guild leader of Crouching Tiger and a ranked player. It looks like she wasn't lying about being the Prime Minister's daughter.

Their family members are all incredibly good looking no doubt. They could all be models if they wanted to, especially the son. I remember I met him once, Matayos.h.i.+ Tai. He has a good personality, doesn't look down on 'commoners' like some of the other rich kids around here.

As I kept naming the people that came into view, my gaze finally landed on the stage where there were people sitting in a line of chairs all with formidable auras.

My body tensed up and I shrunk down a little further into the corner.

Ah...this sucks.

Why was my family up there?!

My dad, Kai, and Toku where all sitting up on the stage in fancy outfits.

I understand why they didn't tell me since I despise parties, but this is seriously not good. If they saw me, wouldn't that mean they think I'm lying about hating social gatherings? The worst...

I pulled down the brim of my hat to hide my face.

I hope this party ends quickly.
