Chapter 1 Part2

The owner of this club was indeed a genius. The uniqueness of it had been favored and raved about by people from all walks of life. However, because of this very reason, getting a members.h.i.+p was a Herculean task.

Having money didn't ensure that you would be able to enter.

Therefore, the average person could only look at it from outside…

Down the decorative stream, beyond the dense jungle, deep within the structure was the center of the club.

The box at the end of the clubhouse was packed with people. A group of youngsters celebrated there. They could be easily identified as second generation rich (fuerdai) from their lavish clothing.

On the table was a delicate birthday cake with two candles placed in the middle…

Thirty! The candles marking 'three' and 'zero'. It was a birthday celebration.

To turn thirty was a terrible and sad thing for a woman, but for a man it was the age when they aged like fine wine. Life was unfair.

“Dear, blow out the candle.” A woman smirked as she patted the man who was walking away.

The man sitting in the chair maintained his lazy posture. His eyes glanced at the birthday cake placed not far away from him. He frowned with no intention of moving.

“Forget it, I will help you blow them out.” The woman smiled and then got up and blew out the candles on his behalf.

The woman was his fiancé. He looked aloof at the turn of events.

“Gu Yubai, make a wish,” the friends who surrounded him roared. The birthday boy was in no mood to celebrate.

Gu Yubai smiled and stood up. He picked up a knife and cut the cake.

Wishes! He did not need wishes.

At that moment, the phone on the table rang again. Ouyang Yu, who was sitting next to Gu Yubai apologized and picked up the phone.

“You, kid, what are you doing?” roared one of the friends.

Ouyang Yu's actions made him angry. He came tonight and met them after such a long time. Yet his phone kept on ringing. He should have left the phone at his house.

In fact, the birthday celebration is merely an excuse. It is nothing more than a get together for friends. As one gets older, they get busy, and they meet their friends less often.

“I need to take the call,” Ouyang Yu smiled and said to Gu Yubai. He also knows that tonight is a good brother's birthday; it is a sin to disrupt everyone's good mood. However, this call looked urgent. He dismissed the call several times, yet the phone kept ringing. If he doesn't pick the phone up again, the little guy who made the call would start crying.

Gu Yubai looked at him with disapproval. When his eyes swept past the caller ID on the phone screen, his heart shuddered. A name that had not shown up in front of him in the past five years had suddenly appeared before him without any warning.
