36 Voice Of Reason

Celine, on the other hand, didn't sleep at all.

She watches you the entire night like a guardian angel, which is f.u.c.king creepy if you think about it.

Even your own mother wouldn't do such a thing.

Well, at least not anymore.

Anyway, when you wake up and did all your morning business, you have a change of clothes and head out of the room.

You didn't head to your car immediately, as you have something you want to test out.

Standing there in the walkway between two rooms, you wait for Celine to come out of her room.

Celine gives you a smile when she did. She didn't look all that stress out despite the lack of sleep. Even her status window did have tiredness status.

"Good morning. Did you sleep well?"

Celine asks smugly.

You decide to play the game.

"Very. I have an angel watching over me after all. Care to join me for breakfast? We could get to know each other over some omelets. My treat."

With each word you speak, ethereal green mist forms and surges forwards, shrouding her body in an aura.

It is your newest ability, the Voice of Reason.

Celine drops her smile and narrows her eyes. She didn't understand why you are so friendly now, and that raises a lot of flag.

However, her suspicions fade away as quickly.

"I know of a good place nearby. We can go together or separately. It is up to you."

You add while watching the green mist enters her whenever she inhaled.

It is obviously affecting her judgement, but sadly, you don't know how effective your new ability is.

You will find out soon enough.

As you head towards the carpark, you explain how that place makes the best omelets ever, and once she had them, she will be hooked for life.

"That sounds wonderful, but I will drive there on my own, thank you very much."

Celine tells you, not knowing that she has no choice in the matter.

By the time you reach the carpark, Celine nearly drops her jaw.

She immediately rushes past you to where her car used to be before looking around and cursing very unladylike.

"Who the f.u.c.k stole my car!? Give it back, G.o.dd.a.m.n it! Do you even know who you are f.u.c.king messing with!? Do you!?"

Celine looks at you suspiciously for a couple of seconds before dismissing that possibility.

There is no way you could have stolen her car.

She has watched you the entire night after all.

With that possibility dismissed, she checks if there are any camera in the carpark's vicinity.

There isn't one. You have makes sure of that last night, when you stole her car.

Her car is nicely stashed in the inventory in your mind.

Even if you miss a camera, you had your face hidden away by several towels.

Being caught on camera will not implicate you.

However, if you did get caught on camera, it will be super fun seeing how she explains her car vanishes into thin air.

With no camera in the parking lots, Celine looks towards the driveway into the motel, seeing a camera facing the road, capturing all entering and leaving vehicles.

She then heads off to the main office.

You pause for a moment before unlocking your car and get inside. You wait for her to come back out to the carpark.

She looks confused when she did.

It is understandable. You would be too if you were her.

"How the f.u.c.k…?"

Celine mutters and looks around the carpark to make sure her car isn't there.

Since it isn't there and it didn't leave the parking lot according to the camera, then where could it be?

This is one of those unexplainable things.

Once she looks towards you, you wave your hand and invite her in.

"Looks like you need a ride after all. Don't worry, the offer still stands."

You tell her with a charming smile.

"As for your car, if it is really stolen, then the only thing you can do now is file the report and hope for the best. Who knows, maybe after you have a good breakfast, it will just turn up again."

Celine takes a moment to think about it. She finds your word reasonable enough. It might have been due to your power.

Despite her wariness of you, she accepts your offer and enters your car.

Once inside, she asks: "Did you take it?"

You chuckle and shake your head.

"I have to be the best d.a.m.n magician in the world to pull that off."

You answer.

"Or the best hypnotist."

Celine responses thoughtfully before shaking her head at the implausibility of it all.

There must be an explanation for everything that happened. She will get to the bottom of it eventually.

"You promise me the best omelets. Let's see if you can keep your promise. Also, I remember that you are paying?"

Celine points out.

You chuckle and drive out of the parking lot.

As you head towards the restaurant, you pop into the ca.s.sette player the first song you ever composed in this life.

You also sing along with Christina Aguilera. You find yourself becoming fully immerse into the beautiful and affectionate melody.

Soon, the entire world will be captivated by the song and the voice behind the song.

"Look into my eyes. You will see. What you mean to me…"

Celine blinks as she listens to the music. She couldn't help but reminiscences about someone she used to love dearly.

If only he has listens to her, then none of that would have happen and they would still be together.

"This song…? Who wrote it?"

Hearing her question, you take your eyes off the road and look at Celine.

"… everything I do, oh, I do it for you."

You met her gaze, realizing that she is quite beautiful basking in the sunlight.

"Ahem. What was the question?"

You ask after you break the gaze.

Celine also look away, feeling rather strange. The string coming from her towards you flicker red for a fraction of a second.

As she looks out the window, watching the tree lines and listening to the song again, she feels a longing for warmth and happiness.

"Who wrote this song? It is very good. The person must be very talented and probably in love."

You cough.

"Thanks, I guess, but I'm currently single. I haven't had a girlfriend in like years."

Celine is surprised. "You wrote this? I thought you were a screenwriter."

You give her a smile.

"I am a screenwriter, and a director, a composer, a songwriter and a music producer. Also, I'm a novice magician and apparently, a hypnotist. You suspect I use hypnotism last night?"

Celine is amazed.

It seems that there is more to you than mean the eyes.

"Yes. It sounds stupid, right? How can someone hypnotize another person?"

She expects you to agree with that logic.

However, you know that there are many people who had used hypnotisms to commit crimes back in your previous world.

"Yes, it sounds very stupid."

You tell her flatly.

"but trust in your instinct."

You add and face her, matching her gaze. "It is the only thing that will never betray you. Even if there is no one left to believe in, believe in yourself."

Celine couldn't help but blush.

The grey string that connects to you coated in vibrant red.

You notice it too. You wonder if it is your charm, your word or your power. It could be a bit of each. In any case, you decide to grab hold of the opportunity.

Your hand wrap around the string, tugging it lightly to jolt her emotion.

"I think we got off the wrong foot, so let's start from the beginning."

You introduce yourself, giving your real name.

"Celine Devons.h.i.+re. You are hypnotizing me, aren't you? Just like that girl…?"

You smile. "Let's say that I am. Do you not like it?"

Celine feels her heart fl.u.s.ters.

It has never fl.u.s.tered like this before, not even when she was with her ex-boyfriend.

"I don't hate it."

Celine admits and leans over the bridge between the seats.

The car slows down to a crawl as you move in to capture her lips.

It is very nice, soft and warm.

Maybe after breakfast, you really get to know her.
