27 The Power Of Music

Your vision and hearing are impaired. You couldn't see or hear anything properly. This is nothing new to you, and you just needed time to return to normal.

"Dude, what the f.u.c.k happened?"

Mark asks. You could make out his face after several more seconds.

You could already see something new in your vision. Aside from status and attribute windows hovering around him, strange colors are emanating from his mouth. The colors fade when he stopped talking completely.

"Nothing. I just wanted to be the one of the greatest music producers to ever lived."

You answered with a smile, not taking note of everyone else in the room aside from your friend. They didn't really mind you either as they sit around, chatting and taking a break from their work.

You have chosen your word very carefully when you were doing a wager with the System.

You didn't need to be the best, just one of the greatest music producers to have ever lived. Ever lived is the objective point, meaning you will only fail your goal if you died.

You have offered your emotions in return for the wager. You wouldn't need emotions if you are dead – or would you?

You didn't know if the soul is a thing and whether you will live on after death. You will cross the bridge when it is times.

Mark stares at you for a moment, looking puzzled. He then shakes his head. "Just because you wanted to, doesn't mean you can be. It takes time and a lot of work and dedication."

"I know. Let's get back to work."

You get off the couch.

You pause for a moment.

You drop back against the couch.

"After I get a good nap. I'm still feeling a bit woozy."

You start to snooze, causing your friend to be flabbergasted.

"f.u.c.k, this isn't your house man! You can't just come here, interfere with my work and then decide to sleep! Don't you have any shame?"

Apparently, you don't.

You ignore your friend and take a good rest, trying to recuperate from the damage to your psych. Your brain is still hurting from the recent "user integration". You hope that you won't get brain damage as you take on more quest.

No one will bother you lying there in the common room.

When you wake up, you came face to face with a little girl with short blond hair.

"Don't tell me your name is Christina Aguilera."

You narrow your eyes and trying to see the resemblance in the girl. Meeting the Princess of Pop and the Pop Princess at the same studio is too much of a coincidence.

The girl shakes her head cutely. "Christina? She is busy recording her song over there."

"Is she now?"

You are surprised, but not very. "Interesting. I will go and check her out. Oh, by the way, what is your name? Do you want to be a movie star?"

"A movie stars? Can I really?"

Her eyes sparkled a little. It seems like she destined to be one.

"Uh huh. You can if you try your hardest. Hard work beats talent any day. Just in case, let me see your potential."

You narrow your eyes, forcing her attribute window to appear. Before her skillset could appear, a man placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Come over here, Kristen. I told you not to wander off."

Kristen waves you goodbye as she followed her father out of the room. You crack your neck and decide to also leave the room. You need to continue persuading your friend to join your team, but before you do, you want to check out Christina Aguilera.

Christina should be around the same age as Britney Spears or a little older. They are two of the pop icons from your mother's generation. If history hadn't changed much, they would still be pop icons in this world.

You pay attention to Kristen and her father as they talk to one of sound engineers. From the way they addressed him, you learn his name is Tom Bell. That would make his daughter Kristen Bell.

"Interesting. What a coincidence."

You murmur before finding the recording room where Christina is at. You spectate along with several people as her voice is topnotch. It is rank after all, and it will eventually become S-Rank considering her age.

She isn't as fearful or nervous as many other children. She must have been well-trained.

With your new and improved vision, you didn't need to hear what she is singing to see the mult.i.tude of colors emanating from her lips. The colors come out as wave, and they are very similar to the grey and silvery light that you have seen previously when Britney had sung. The waves are very beautiful, pulsating and bouncing off the walls, amplifying or annihilating each other.

You smile broadly as you realized what they were.

Sound waves!

Your ability to discern whether a song is good or bad has not changed. You can see the color on each of the soundwave and how it affects emotion. This is the power of music – to able to move emotions and manipulate the brain chemistry.

There is the reason why theme song or soundtracks is used in movies, especially during epic scenes. It is to trigger pleasant memory and the sense of familiarity.

People registers sounds easier than visual.

You will capitalize on this.

Before Christina finishes her song, you left the room and return to where Mark is.

"Hey Mark! I'm back. Did you miss me?"

You call out once you are inside the room and sitting on the chair adjacent to him.

"f.u.c.k no."

Mark snorts and focuses his attention to the sound track. He was listening to it attentively.

"Heh, don't be like that. We are in this together."

You dismiss your friend's growing annoyance and put on a headphone. "Let's continue."

"Dude. Do you mind? I'm busy right now. I'm listening to something."

Mark allows you to listen in on what he was working on. The song sounds incredible, and as you listen carefully from the beginning to the end, you notice a new window appear in front of you, showing the entire lyrics. Many words are in different colors – some grey, some yellow, some red, some blue, and so on.

While you haven't fully figure out which colors denote for which emotions, you are sure that each of the words or sentences trying to covey an emotion within the listeners. However, the emotions is kind of all over the place even if the song sounded very nice to the ear.

"Who the artist?"

"Bryan Adams."

"Who's that?"

Mark sighs and realized your knowledge about the music scene is basically zero. Yet, you want to aim to be a music producer – are you f.u.c.king kidding?

Learn to walk before you run!

Nevertheless, Mark explains to you who Bryan Adams is. This song had just been released last month, and it is incredibly popular.

You nod and ponder how you should use your new-found perspective on the lyric.

The System you have is very overpowering. This is the reason why you wager with it.

The System will help you archive your goal whatever it may be, just like it granted you the power to discern great actors from bad one for your quest to become the best f.u.c.king director. This is the same with music. You can discern great singers from bad one, including lyrics and accompanying background music.

"Let me borrow a pen and some music paper."

"The f.u.c.k, man? Are you working on this seriously or you're just messing around?"

"I am working on it seriously."

You take the spectator seat at the back of the recording room and start writing down the lyric. You start crossing out words and replaces them with new one before singing out loud to yourself. Your vocal sucks, but it isn't what you are looking for.

"Look into my eyes

You will see

What you mean to me

Everything I do

Oh

I do it for you

Oh yeah

I would die for you"

As you sing, the lyrics refreshes on the window before you. Most of the words becomes red, conveying the emotion of love and yearning.

Once you feel you have reached the best of your songwriting ability, you nod and look up, seeing your friend staring wide-eye at you.

"You're a composer now!?"

"Nope. Now I need to find a singer, and I have just the person in mind."

You sign your name on the new lyrics. Even if it is derived from this world's version, you still hold the copyright, especially if different background music and vocal is used.

[Congratulation. You have composed your first song.]

[You are one step towards becoming one of the greatest music producers ever lived!]

[A random reward has been awarded to you. The item is placed into your Inventory.]

"Why, thank you very much for the gift."

You smile and knew your wager had paid off. This is the reason why you decide to wager before trying to correct any songs. If you did, you would have lose out on a reward.

You would never work for nothing.

Mark is confused at your remark. "Huh? You are getting weirder and weirder. You're not on drug, are you?"

"Probably... not on drug. Hey, come with me if you want to hear another angel sing."
