19 The Princess Of Pop

"C-Rank Dancer. C-Rank Singer. Rank Vocal. D-Rank Acting…"

You continue to read her skillsets. It takes you a moment as the list is quite long. The one that stood out the most is the Rank Vocal.

At her age, it is remarkable. However, it is expected of the future Princess of Pop.

That is just an honorific t.i.tle, but that doesn't make it any less important.

You smile as you confirm who she is. She is the idol of your mother's teenage years. Not your current mother, but your previous mother. You take a couple of second to remember her by, and you ponder how she is doing. She must have cried her heart out at your funeral.

"Britney Spears."

You call for her attention from your seat. The girl looks at you shyly. Her parents are preoccupied with your friend and his boss to notice.

"h.e.l.lo mister."

"Why are you so nervous? There is nothing to be nervous about."

She turns her head to have a look at her parents before returning her attention back to you. Just from that, you understand. She fears that she would disappoint her parents.

This road to stardoms is extremely harsh in this universe.

"Come here. Don't worry, I won't eat you. I promise."

Britney giggles and approaches you. When she did, you take her hands and pats the back gently. Green ethereal mists seep out of your body and swirling around your arm and streaming towards your hand and jumps onto hers.

It enters Britney, very, very slowly.

You make sure of the rate of transfer since you didn't want a little girl to be stupidly h.o.r.n.y.

"There is nothing to be nervous about. Don't worry about what your parents think and worry about what you want. So, what if you didn't make it? What if your voice isn't good enough? You will only fail if you give up. Continue to strive for what you love, and one day you will succeed."

You give her encouragement while your life energy boosts her Singing skill up one rank. While it didn't seem much with your power, there is a huge different between C-Rank and C-Rank (+).

Your energy also put her into a calm, relaxing state. It is almost hypnotic.

When you notice that the nervousness and fearful status on the window fades and vanishes, you ask softly. "Can you sing for me? There is no recording right, so sing any song that you like."

Britney nods slowly as if she is in a trance and began to sing.

Greyish aura surrounding her the moment she did, and it s.h.i.+fts to white. As she increases the tempo, the white aura grows larger, encompa.s.sing the room.

You feel a sense of admiration as soon as the white aura touches your being.

Her beautiful voice captures the attention of everyone in the room. Her mother gasps and covers her mouth while her father is in utter shocked. They both had never heard their daughter sings that well before. Your friend Mark and his boss are speechless.

"Brilliant! Why didn't you sing like that before?"

Mark calls out once the song ended. Her parents immediately request Mark's boss to redo the audio recordings. However, Mark's boss shook his head.

"Sorry, but we don't have time for another take right now. You will have to make another booking and come back another time."

"What is this about?"

You ask your friend.

He explains to you that Mickey Mouse Club (MMC) is looking for new contestants and performers for its upcoming season. Since it is a chance to appear on television, every parent who wants their child to be a star, apply for it. Since there is so much applicants this time around, everyone must send in a sample of their voice.

That is the reason why every recording studio is completely booked out.

You recall faintly that MMC is a reality show, created by Walt Disney. However, you couldn't recall if Britney made it in or not. She probably did, considering her voice. But what if she did not?

An idea appears in your mind.

As Britney's parents trying to negotiate with Mark's boss about another take, you look for small sheet of paper and a pen. You wrote your name and number on it. You also make a mental note to print a lot of business cards.

"Pardon me, but I'm an independent director. Your daughter has a great voice and looks. I think she will do great as an actress. If you are in LA again, please give me a call. I will definitely cast her in one of my upcoming movies."

You introduce yourself when Britney and her parents are evicted from the room. Mark's boss didn't have time to argue with them anymore. He went to another recording room and greets new customer.

James Spears accepts your make-s.h.i.+ft business card. He has one look before frowning. Independent directors are like sands on the beach. There are so many, but who which one truly stands out amongst the rest?

"Thank you. If we are in LA again, we will give you a call."

You nod with a sincere smile.

"I will be waiting to hear from you."

You pay attention to the little girl. "Nice to meet you Britney. Hopefully we get to work together in the future."

You are too friendly with the girl, and it immediately causes suspicion in her father's eyes. As soon as they left the studio, he crumples your business card and threw it into the trash-bin.

"Why did you do that, honey?" Lynne Spears asks her husband.

"Didn't you see him when he looks at our daughter? I saw him touching her as well. There is a lot of those kind of director here. We should watch out for them."

You didn't have any idea of that as you return to the recording room to talk to your friend.

Mark is sitting there, reviewing the recording they have just make for Britney. It is his job to choose the best sequence and send them off with their application.

"Man, if only we have time to record another one. Her voice is so awesome. It is like an angel, singing her melody."

You chuckle. "Yeah, she really is an angel. Anyway, can you help me with this? I try going through the ca.s.sette archive. Thanks for that by the way."

Mark chuckle. He glad that someone else knows his daily pain.

"Alright, but you owe me one, a big one."

"Fine. When I become rich and famous, we will get super drunk and super high like we back in college."

Mark laughs. "So, tell me what you need, and I'll see what I can do."

You tell Mark what you wanted for the soundtrack. It took roughly an hour to produce. And once you have what you needed, you bid farewell to your friend and head off again.

This time, you are heading straight to a person that is most likely to fund your movie.
