Chapter 33.2: Forget It

Shen Lang smiled lightly and shook his head. "No, it's alright. It'll only damage father-in-law's prestige."

The Count is a good man. He should think well of his image.

Jin Mulan looked at Shen Lang, a fleeting moment of her heart touched. Then, it closed and softly she said, "Husband, continue and study well. I will leave and make sure your daily meals and pairs of clothes are sent to you. As for Tian Heng and the people like him, please relax. Once I find the opportunity, I'll certainly seek justice for you."

Shen Lang smiled. "Thank you."

But he won't allow her. Xu Jiazhu, Lin Mo, and Tian Heng… he must repay against them in person.

Sure, it'd be satisfying to make use of the Count's Palace, but it's shameful. Yes, he plans to eat soft rice here but if he's to take advantage of the Count's Palace all the time, what future does he have?

After Jin Mulan left, Shen Lang began his pursuit of studies.

Nope! I'm done! I can't do this!

He turned over the book, reading only half of the first page before giving up. He tried, he truly did but as a white lotus, he found it beneath himself to undertake such… such preposterous reading so he used another method; his eidetic memory.

Yes, that would seem to be the case—he's flipping through the book, eyes flas.h.i.+ng like he's taking pictures.

The word doc.u.ment app has become a tool of his, putting down all pieces of information for the brain to utilize. His eyes were like a camera as he recorded the information down from a simple look.

The Golden Training Manual book had about 50,000 words and 200 pages.

Shen Lang needed only an hour of his time to memorize the never-ending thick book.

To be exact, he recorded the book down from head to toe. Nothing was missed; not even a grammatical error.

The Count used over 30 days and Jin Mulan 23 days to recite the book from beginning to end.

The Count's son had yet to recite the words, remembering only at most 300 words before he begins to forget the rest. He'll probably never be able to recite the book for the rest of his life.

But Shen Lang, he was a "pure genius". He told himself so. He remains undefeated.

"I'm so good," Shen Lang chuckled.

Turning around, he saw a bed lying on the corner. Smiling, he jumped on the bed and laid down comfortably.

"Hmm… should I go to father-in-law now or wait 'till tomorrow morning to show off my genius mind?" Shen Lang thought. "Aiya, forget it. Let's wait tomorrow morning. I have to be good. Be conscientious, Shen Lang. Father-in-law is a good man. Gotta give him some face, after all. But it is a lot of fun to argue with father-in-law."

Shen Lang yawned.

"Well, I should sleep. My body might break down if I don't get my beauty sleep," he said exasperatedly. "But when will I sleep with a woman? It's already hard to sleep alone! Wife, sleep with me!"

Shen Lang moaned and complained.

Five minutes later, he fell dead asleep.

Hearing the snoring from the outside, Jin Zhong felt a sense of contempt while guarding the door.

What is this?

Just as he arrived to guard, Shen Lang had already fallen asleep? Did he not bother reading the book? Even the Count's son knew to study late into the night else he'll incur the wrath of the Count and Countess.

In this way, he was able to recite at least a small part of the Golden Manual Instruction while confined in his studies.

Jin Zhong sighed.

Master Shen holds no promise, he thought.

In the Count's room.

"I think Shen Lang is a good boy," the Countess said. "The boy isn't as ignorant as the rumor says. He looks like a bad cute child but he's actually a good one."

Count Jin nodded. "His mind isn't bad but he's too impetuous and frivolous. The kid needs to be disciplined well. For now, he's banned from going out to fool around."

"Banned?" The Countess question. "If you punish him as soon as he enters our house, won't he complain?"

"Not at all," Count Jin shook his head. "I made him recite our Jin Family's Golden Manual Training. Soon as he recites the book, he'll regain his freedom. Only the sons of the House of Jin are eligible to recite this. He is half my son and so I consider him a Jin."

"Husband, you are so insidious," the Countess smiled.
