Li Beinian studied the man in front of her. The impression was faint at best.

Only his face and that little mustache—she was quite sure she’d seen them somewhere before.

Noticing how Mu Donglin’s expression was turning uglier by the second, Li Beinian shot s.h.i.+ Yishen a look of grat.i.tude as she accepted the help. Keeping her tone polite but distant, she replied, “CEO s.h.i.+, how do you do.”

s.h.i.+ Yishen smiled satisfactorily and straightened in an elegant and practiced movement. He suggested, “There’s still some time before the auction. Why don’t we find a good spot and have a chat?”

Li Beinian raised her brow a little further.

She instinctively s.h.i.+fted her gaze to Mu Donglin.

s.h.i.+ Yishen’s smile faded. He said seriously, “Eldest Young Master Mu, Miss Li is a person, and everyone has the right to choose to be in a relations.h.i.+p or to break off from one. If there’s any unhappiness between the two of you, you may settle it in private. Tonight is the charity auction event co-organized by s.h.i.+guang and Shangzhi. I hope you can show a little respect.”

She didn’t even know about it.

Li Beinian smiled faintly. She spoke unhurriedly and seemed indifferent even as she delivered the sarcastic remark, “I can’t say for sure whether I’m a capable person. However, I’d say that Eldest Young Master Mu, on the contrary, is rather disappointing.”

At these words, s.h.i.+ Yishen started laughing aloud.

Following his lead, the people could no longer suppress themselves and started laughing too.

Mu Donglin eyed s.h.i.+ Yishen and then Li Beinian. He showed no anger as he remarked, “Is that so. In that case, does my younger brother satisfy you, then?”

“Your younger brother?” Li Beinian put on a look of surprise, as though she hadn’t the faintest idea whom he was talking about. Then, she, too, gave a cryptic reply with a teasing smile, “One only needs to try a failed product once.”

s.h.i.+ Yishen looked at Li Beinian with interest, his glimmering peach blossom eyes like intoxicating aged wine. He remarked, “Miss Li is indeed an interesting person.”

“True, she’s interesting,” Mu Donglin said, walking up to them. “How could a woman speak so convincingly about having done something which she has never done before?”

Having said that, he leaned towards her and sneered. “Whether I can, whether I’m a failure, have you even tried?”
