9 Chapter 9 - Ruby Ogre

"Wait, Ausura! We have to kill him! If he transforms what will we do if he comes back to the forest?" Iona cried.

"Zaro, flee towards the plains upon evolution and don't return... remember these words, recite them every day and say them to yourself while evolving."

Zaro was extremely scared, he did not understand how powerful he could actually become and how dangerous his existence would be. Uncertain of what to do he just nodded his head and turned away as he knew that they didn't exactly want to be near him right now.

As Zaro walked away Iona was extremely scared, he was a ticking time bomb but she pitied him as he would soon be forced to live a lonely life.

"Goodbye Zaro, don't forget about those close to you... we will never be your enemies!"

Soon Zaro had left them entirely, he was so lost in thought and so confused that he didn't realize it was already night time and he found himself close to the territory belonging to the pup pack that he met before.

Two of them were awake, probably on guard as the others slept. He could accurately judge that they were no longer that weak and figured that they've been hunting rather well in his absence. Everything that was happening was so sudden and things were moving at a rapid pace even though he was in this world for less than a week!

He knew that there would be no point seeing the other pups and changed direction towards the outer parts of the forest... he was hoping that he would reach another land soon if he just kept moving forward.

Thus he began his journey into the unknown and continued hunting once again, he was destined to become a terrifying existence. Although he was scared of the fact that he would suddenly change as said by Ausura, he decided to embrace it and stop running away from things as he vowed before.

---------------------

Weeks pa.s.sed, he was hunting constantly and could almost see the end of the forest as the trees were now much fewer and the creatures he encountered were much weaker. His core was now so large it felt like it would explode at any moment and occasionally sent a shock to his whole body which transformed some part of him.

His fur had returned to the original color he had when he first came into the world but had changed from green to white and then blue before finally into the same old wolf fur. His claws were now capable of becoming longer and sharper at his own will and his fangs released a mighty killing intent.

He was beginning to fear himself! His humanity had completely left him, meat no longer tasted great as he ate so much of it but he still kept some memories within him and of course recited the words said by Ausura before he left them.

Zaro squinted his eyes and in the distance, he could see some sort of a man-made structure and guessed that it must've either belonged to the fairies or the avians that they spoke about.

Since he had not seen any human-like activity in so long he was really eager to find out what the creatures were up to. Thus he sneaked forward at a slightly faster pace and felt slightly excited when he heard deep voices coming from the structure.

Once he got close enough he could make out that it was a fort, and inside he could detect around fifty or so creatures conversing with one another.

The gate was locked so he couldn't see inside which caused him to curse under his breath and then stealthily approached the wooden ramparts. He used his claws to climb and soon popped his head over and saw a bunch of ugly orcs and ogres walking around.

The fort was small but bustling with activity as the orcs worked a blacksmith, plowed a small farm in the center of the fort and trained inside a fenced area. It was a beautiful sight for Zaro as his human side had awoken a bit.

However, his moment was ruined when one of the orcs had spotted him and immediately alerted the rest of the fort. This momentarily made Zaro panic but then his expression changed when he spotted the juicy cores wedged neatly on their bodies or on their foreheads.

He sunk his claws deeper into the wood and tore off a chunk as he landed backward on his hind legs. An evil smile covered his face as he launched himself into the fort! With his transformations, he was now incredibly strong and fearless!

When he leaped inside the fort he immediately pounced at the orc who spotted him and clawed once causing the orc's face to be torn straight off. The other orcs equipped themselves with helmets and breastplates and charged at him immediately.

Yet this didn't affect Zaro one bit as he relentlessly tore through numerous bodies before eventually reaching the armored orcs. When he landed his claws against the armor he noticed that it didn't break upon impact but instead the force of his attack just knocked the orc away!

The other orcs hesitated when they saw this but then charged once again. Zaro then used his newly discovered skill 'Essence Channeling' where he would infuse his claws with essence and empower them for some time allowing him to tear through enemies a lot easier.

An orc approached and he repeated the same movement as last time but now with his empowered attack, he sliced through the armor and annihilated the flesh under it. After this strike, he continued launching his attacks at the other orcs until eventually he was pushed back by a ruby-core Ogre.

Its flesh seemed unpenetrable which just showed the difference between an unawoken core and a fully formed ruby core! It was time for Zaro to retreat and since he knew these creatures were extremely slow, he simply ran back while pulling out the cores from the fallen orcs on the way.

His heart was racing for the first time since the war hawk and a rush of adrenaline filled his body, the feeling was indescribably amazing!

However, Zaro was somewhat unsatisfied, although he was strong, there was a clear difference between those who had already formed their cores. Even with his empowering skill, he could not tare through the ogre's flesh.

"I'll get a bit stronger and return here one day and destroy you all!" he said to himself and then his human-side silenced him. He felt like there was another evil personality slowly being awoken within his body which proved Ausura's words.

While he was walking away, he decided to return to a spot he had found a few days before that contained some bushes filled with sweet berries. They had a lot of essence inside of them and improved Zaro's blood circulation as well as the quality of it which meant his stamina was increased tremendously.

The bushes weren't too far away as he had been lingering around the area for a few days now.

Soon the sun had set and he was just about to reach the bushes which were flocked by different herbivores. He didn't exactly just come for the berries but for the other creatures that were attracted by them which made easy prey.

He casually walked up to all of them in stealth mode and butchered them with his claws nonchalantly. Once he cleaned up all of the cores, he suddenly froze in place as he could sense something strong approaching him.

It must've been the orcs! Using his keen sense of smell, he could detect approximately twelve orcs and three ogres with one of them with the ruby core. His heart begun beating rapidly once again, however, this time, he would not run.

He had to find a way to defeat these opponents because he knew he couldn't run away forever! Plus he now had a better chance as they were now in his home, a smile spread across his face and evil intent lingered in his heart.

The real hunt has begun.
