156 Now That's Buisness

Little 4th: "Big Sister YingYing, are you busy?"

Li Xiuying: "Not too busy for you."

Little 4th giggled at Li Xiuying's response.

Yao Changying quirked a brow at the side wondering who Li Xiuying was flirting with.

Little 4th: "Big sister YingYing I've got some terrible news."

Li Xiuying: "Need help?"

Little 4th sounded glum: "I'll be bringing a box of light bulbs with me tomorrow. I told my friends about the picnic and they've invited themselves to come." He had tried everything to convince them not to come i.e. threats and bribery. His eldest brother had always said one of the two would always work, but now he realized QIn Song was wrong and he would need to learn more tactics.

Li Xiuying: "How many?"

Little 4th: "Three of them, but Gou Sheng eats for two people. He's like a dark hole."

Li Xiuying: "Blackhole."

Little 4th thought for a moment and decided that Gou Sheng was darker than a dark hole: "Yes he is."

Li Xiuying smiled at Little 4th's response: "That's fine. I'll make preparations."

Little 4th whispered slightly: "Mom said she will also come because there's so many of us. She won't be persuaded otherwise." He had tried to convince his mother to take his three friends out somewhere else; he couldn't resort to his usual tactics of threats or bribery.

Li Xiuying: "That will be of help."

Little 4th sounded hopeful: "Will you still come to pick me up?"

Li Xiuying: "I will arrive by 1 pm. We will discuss everything tomorrow." She didn't know how to navigate the situation with so many children coming. She wanted little 4th to feel special but she didn't want the others to feel left out.

Little 4th: "See you tomorrow big sister YingYing."

Li Xiuying: "Bye Bye."Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.

Yao Changying: "Who was that? Do you have a date tomorrow? Who is he? You used so many words to converse. Who is this special person outside of me and Daiyu? When did you learn to flirt?"

Li Xiuying rolled her eyes. She picked up her handbag and made her way to leave.

Yao Changying stood up and followed: "Come onnnnn. Tell me. Tell me."

Li Xiuying replied as she locked the door: "Little brother."

Yao Changying: "You have a brother? Since when? Why didn't you tell me? Are you related by blood? Is he a sworn brother a.s.signed to you by the spy agencyyou won't tell me about?"

Li Xiuying said nothing as they continued walking.

Yao Changying kept asking Li Xiuying questions. Li Xiuiyng only responded with her usual 'mmm' or 'hmm'.

Li Xiuying: "Work,"

Yao Changying: "What?"

Li Xiuying: "You have work." She then pointed at the hospital entrance in front of them.

Yao Changying: "You made me walk all the way to the entrance before telling me?!"

Li Xiuying shrugged.

Yao Changying checked the time: "c.r.a.p. The next patient is due to arrive in 10 minutes. YingYing I'll get you back for this. Hmph." She turned and began brisk walking back.

Li Xiuying laughed at Yao Changying's antics and her threat of vengeance.

Li Xiuying started making quick calculations of how much she would have to increase the ingredients to make lunch for tomorrow as she made her way to her car.

The Enchanted - Qilin's office

Tu Nianzu knocked on the door and waited for a response.

Elder Tu: "Enter."

Tu Nanzu was surprised to hear the voice of his grandfather. He took a deep breath before entering.

Elder Tu: "Ah Nianzu, I didn't expect to see you here."

Qilin had a grin on his face: "You look a little out of sorts."

Tu Nianzu sat in the empty sofa opposite his uncle: "h.e.l.lo Grandfather, Uncle Q. I went to go and see Li Xiuiyng today."

Qilin: "Ah, so that's why."

Elder Tu was seated with his feet propped up on a footstool: "For?"

Tu Nianzu: "I wanted to discuss the procedure and to set a date for the operation."

Qilin smirked.

Elder Tu:" What happened?"

Tu Nianzu: "She said she is busy this weekend. She had the audacity to ask me to write a 10,000-word a.s.signment."

Qilin: "a.s.signment on what?"

Tu Nianzu: "She wants me to detail the consultation yesterday and 'write about what everyone said and what their thoughts were' or something stupid like that. Then she wanted me to write about carotid artery stenosis and everything about it like I'm some first year. This is actually a joke. She said it has to be in this Sunday at 2 pm and said if I don't get 70% she wouldn't consider doing the surgery."

Elder Tu burst out laughing. 'I'm starting to like this little doctor.'

Tu Nianzu didn't expect his grandfather to have such a reaction. He was hoping his grandfather would become angry at Li Xiuying's actions. Afterall Li Xiuying was asking him, TU NIANZU, the grandson of the imperial dragon Tu, to work like a dog for her 'consideration'. He expected his grandfather to be angered by Li Xiuying and to teach her a lesson.

Qilin: "I will have the rest of the team a.s.sembled for this Monday at 7 pm."

Tu Nianzu was confused: "What?"

Qilin: "She just asked you to write an essay. You're not just some fist year."

Tu Nianzu: "Ten. Thousand. Words. Ten Thousand. Grandfather?" He looked at his grandfather for help.

Elder Tu became serious: "Everything that is happening now is a result of your own actions. You still don't seem to be comprehending the brevity of your error."

Tu Nianzu looked down in frustration.

Elder Tu sighed he had gone to easy on this grandson of his. Tu Nianzu was academically brilliant but didn't understand the minutiae of social interaction.

Elder Tu:" Your uncle doesn't seem to have fully explained the situation to you." He gave a pointed look to Qilin.

Qilin shrugged. His face said 'I'm not his father, not my problem.'

Elder Tu turned back to Tu Nianzu: "Let's for a moment put aside that you could have affected my health. That's a personal situation. As you should know from the notes your uncle gave you; Li Xiuying is known as Death's Escape. She has operated on many of the people in our field of work. It's an unwritten rule that no one owns exclusive rights to her skills. Perhaps I will tell you how this came about at another time. Anyway, it stands to reason that only those who have a similar standing and financial background to us have the luxury of contacting her. That means the heads of other families. She operated on your uncle and she is the reason why your uncle is here and the fact he survived has added to his notoriety. Your uncle brokered a deal with her that allowed one of our own to penetrate her world. To keep tabs on her. To know who is in contact with her i.e. which families have been injured and weakened. Now that's business."

Tu Nianzu went pale.

Elder Tu: "You need to think about the bigger picture. If you were anyone else, you would have paid a debt of blood equivalent to the loss you've made the family suffer."

Qilin: "Your blood alone wouldn't be sufficient."

Tu Nianzu understood his uncle meant that his family would also have to pay.

Elder Tu: "This girl is a smart one. She gave you a fitting punishment."

Qilin ears perked up, his father hardly gave compliments to anyone.

Elder Tu: "She asked you to a.n.a.lyze the conversation, your a.n.a.lysis will reveal to her not what others think but what you actually think. You thought your opinion mattered the most and wanted to out talk her so now you have to use those 10,000 words to appease her. The time limit ensures you're pressured and stressed. You behaved like you knew everything and now you have to prove what you actually know. You judged her and now she is not only going to judge you, but she will also grade you with your own words as proof of your grade."

Tu Nianzu sat back in his chair in a daze.

Qilin: "You are wasting time sitting here. You have never scored less than 85% in anything you've done." He put extra pressure on Tu Nianzu's shoulders. HIghly stressful situations could bring out the full potential of someone.

Elder Tu: "Nianzu your first mistake could be wiped away. There are other ways to build connections with someone." He looked at Qilin and smiled.

Tu Nianzu shot up our of his chair full of vigor: "Grandfather, Uncle Q. I'll have to excuse myself." He thought to himself 'I'll have to get someone to drive me home. I need t start planning in the car, every moment is precious."

Elder Tu: "Qilin, think about it."

Qilin gave a non-committal shrug and changed the topic: "I bet 100 yen that he scores 70%." They always bet on minor situations with pocket change. It was for a laugh and nothing serious. It was also the win that counted. Besides on a daily basis, millions of yen would pa.s.s through their hands. Money was no object.

Elder Tu: "100 Yen he gets 85%."

Qilin: "Get ready to pay up old man."

Qilin turned to his men waiting outside the door: "You guys want in?"

They all started giving bets of 100 yen and 200 yen. Obviously all of them bet Tu Nianzu would get 70% or above. No one would be stupid enough to bet Tu Nianzu failed.
