Chapter 110: The Birth of the Fast Eater Religion

Remy, along with three other party members, were currently in Salov’s Land. At the moment, she was casting heal on their warrior party member named Corco. She called out, “Holy power, please lend me your strength!”

[Heal.]

[Restores 25%  HP of your specified target.]

The wounds and injuries that littered all over Corco’s body started to heal. He shouted, “Ugh! These damned spiderwebs!”

The spiderwebs of the Salov Spiders were extremely tough. This was one of the reasons why they were extremely hard to fight against. Then, the archer player quickly used his skill to fend off the monster's attacks.

[Triple Shot.]

[Fires three consecutive arrows.]

Thwap!

Thwap!

Thwap!

The arrows struck the body of the Salov Spider! Corco took the opportunity to cut down the body of the exhausted Salov Spider with his ax.

Slam!

“Kkiiiieeee!”

Slam!

The Salov Spider died not long after.

“Phew. That was really tough,” Corco said as he sighed deeply.

Remy’s party members were all at Level 200. If the four of them were taking on two Salov Spiders, they would probably still be fighting against them. It was tough fighting against the Salov Spiders that were on the same level as them, because of their tough webs. The moment any of them got caught in those webs, they would be trapped. Remy had the ability to remove the webs but it cost her a lot of MP and she would not be able to keep up with the rest of the party.

However, the EXP and rewards were extremely satisfying, so much so that they still hunted those spiders in excitement. Even if they felt that they were walking on a tightrope every time they did so, they had willingly entered this place. Then…

“Bbiiiiiiiiiiii!”

“A bird’s cry?”

The sound was not jarring or uncomfortable but it was so sudden that they could not help but tilt their heads to follow the direction of the sound. What they saw made them gasp in shock. The cliffs had now turned black.

“Why did the cliffs suddenly become black?”

The archer player used his skills to look in the distance.

[Hawk’s Eye.]

[Your vision will temporarily be better than your normal vision.]

“Gasp...?!” The archer player gasped as he stepped back in fear.

“What’s wrong?”

The archer’s lips were quivering as he contemplated what to say. He stuttered, “It’s... no... bla...”

“Yes?”

“The cliffs did not become black! Those are all Salov Spiders!”

“...Gasp?!”

“Kyaa!”

Each and every one of them was taken by surprise. The cliffs. The black thing that filled the cliffs were all Salov Spiders?! It looked like the number of the monsters were in the hundreds. Then, at that moment, they caught sight of a man running through the cliffs. The man was wearing a frying pan on his back together with a horned helmet on his head.

“...Cosplay?”

This was what they thought of since a lot of people were wearing the same thing.

“D, don’t tell me that he took all of those aggro?”

“Crazy... That’s impossible.”

“Wait a minute! I think that player is the real Frying Pan Killer?!”

“What?” Remy asked as she looked back at Corco.

“In the video of the Frying Pan Killer, he made a strange bird cry and drew the aggro of the surrounding monsters. Just like right now...”

“Wow. I’m going to take a screenshot! But, what the hell is that bird cry? How can it draw aggro like that?”

It was truly an amazing aggro ability that was enough to defy common sense. What was more amazing was the fact that the man could easily slice through the spiderwebs with his sword, even while being chased by a huge number of Salov Spiders. He did not even let a single attack lay on him.

“But, what’s wrong with those mobs? Why are they so naive...”

In all honesty, it did not make sense to draw the aggro of such a huge number of mobs. Meanwhile, the Frying Pan Killer went inside a cave.

“Ah. Maybe...!” Corco said. He looked as if he finally realized what the Frying Pan Killer was trying to do.

“Maybe there’s a small space in the cave where only one Salov Spider can only get in?”

“A small space?”

“Yes. The player will first enter that small space. Then, a Salov Spider will definitely follow him inside. Once a Salov Spider enters that small space then the player will hunt it. And if it dies, another Salov Spider will fill in the gap.”

“Oho. Then the time to look for mobs will definitely be reduced? Huh? But, isn’t it impossible because of the mob’s body?”

“He can use Livis’ Corpse Disposal to make sure that the body will disappear right away for a one hour duration.”

Livis’ Corpse Disposal was a scroll that players use when they hunt especially if they did not want to see any dead bodies littered around the place.

“Aha!”

“Huh? Come to think of it...”

Corco was astonished. He said, “I can’t believe that he’s trying to kite hundreds of them in one go... When you think about it, it doesn’t make sense either... Doesn’t that person get tired? His HP won’t be able to hold out either.”

It might be possible to hunt Salov Spiders one by one in such a small space, but it was only possible if there were around 5~10 Salov Spiders. However, the strange Frying Pan Killer was actually hunting hundreds of Salov Spiders just like that?

“It doesn’t even make sense for a single person to hunt hundreds of those monsters one by one...”

They all turned to look at the cave. All of them were wondering whether it was still possible for more to enter the cave. There were even still a lot of the Salov Spiders stuck near the entrance. However, something more amazing happened.

“Gasp...?”

The Salov Spiders that were stuck in the entrance suddenly began to move inside again!

‘That means that there’s an empty space so he can keep on hunting!’

After some time, all of the Salov Spiders had finally entered the cave. The party looked at the cave entrance as they took their rest. Then, the Frying Pan Killer came out of the cave again. Then, he stretched his body before going back inside again.

“...OMG?!”

“I, impossible. He hunted hundreds of those within twenty minutes?!”

That was impossible!

“Shall we go and take a look over there? It’s a good chance to go and get some screenshots too,” Corco said as he looked at the Frying Pan Killer with admiration and surprise.

“That’s right!”

Just as they were about to move, a shadow was suddenly cast above them. All of them felt extremely uneasy beneath that shadow. Then…

Puhaaa!

Puhaaa!

…Spiderwebs wound their body up. They looked behind them and saw four Salov Spiders. The four Salov Spiders took advantage of their blindspot and inattentiveness to sneak up on them and bind them with their spiderwebs!  They were all forced to log out!

“Ah, I’m so annoyed! It’s a relief that my level did not drop.”

Remy, or Hyuna, came out of the capsule and ruffled her hair in annoyance. Then, she suddenly thought, “Ah, I still got the screenshot. Right?”

They were not able to get a glimpse of the events in the cave, but there were still plenty of players who were dying to get a look at the Frying Pan Killer! What was more important was that the picture that she took was the picture of the Frying Pan Killer running with hundreds of Salovs after him. She hurriedly posted the screenshot she took and shared it with the world.

***

Minhyuk smiled in satisfaction after checking his level. He was now almost at Level 200. He just went outside to draw the monsters inside so he could get the seeds that he needed. The moment the Salov Spiders entered the cave, the Twin-Headed Ogre, Red Troll and Wyvern all hunted them down. The Twin-Headed Ogre was over Level 300 so it could deal with dozens of Salov Spiders without breaking any sweat. There were still other stronger monsters so the hundreds of Salovs were no match for them at all. In addition, since Minhyuk was the one who drew the aggro of the monsters he could still be considered to have made contributions to the hunt. That was why he was also able to get 10~20% of EXP. He was even able to quickly level up just with that 10~20% EXP. The cherry on top was the EXP given when he fed the monsters, allowing him to bomb his way up in his levels.

At the current moment.

[You have acquired Roasted Seaweed.]

[You have collected all of the ingredients and dishes in the Fantastic Home Cooked Dishes.]

“Yayy!” Minhyuk shouted in happiness. He could now stop feeling haggard and slow down his speed in feeding the monsters.

Now was finally the time for him to eat!  He quickly prepared the dishes using the ingredients that he had just acquired. He first boiled the soybean stew in an earthen pot. Then he cooked the deliciously seasoned spinach and bean sprouts. He prepared the garlic, sesame oil, salt, and sesame seeds. These ingredients were essential to making a deliciously seasoned vegetable dish. The sesame oil would tweak the bland taste of the vegetables and add a savory flavor while the crushed garlic would accompany and catch the soft taste of the vegetables and harmonize with the rest of the flavors of the dish. The salt would provide that salty flavor while the sesame seeds would emphasize the flavor of the sesame.

After he finished preparing the seasoned vegetables, he saw that the soybean stew was now boiling. Then he took his spoon, scooped out a spoonful, blew on it to lower the temperature, and sipped it all in one gulp.

“Slurp! Kya! This slightly spicy and savory flavor is the best!” Minhyuk said. He liked his soybean stew on the spicier side. His soybean stew was more savory since he had a mix of half soybean paste and half extra fermented soybean paste in the soup. Then, he began to grill the salted mackerel.

Sizzle!

Minhyuk might be in big trouble if he grilled the salted mackerel wrongly. The main point of this dish was to cook the meat inside well while making sure that the outside was crisp. That was the best of the best! After he finished cooking the salted mackerel, Minhyuk looked at the table that he had set. There were salted mackerel, seasoned spinach, seasoned bean sprouts, dried seaweed with nothing on it, roasted seaweed, and steamed eggs in an earthen pot.

“Kyaa!” Minhyuk exclaimed in admiration as he opened the lid of the earthen pot that boiled the soybean stew.

Shwaaaaa!

Steam rose up from the pot. Just the steam alone was enough for Minhyuk to know how delicious it was. Then, he took a spoonful and tasted the soup. He said, “Kghhk! Good, it tastes excellent!”

This was the taste that called for rice. The taste of savory and spicy soybean stew! Then he scooped heaps of the soybean stew with tofu, zucchini, enoki mushroom and much more, before adding some rice and mixing them all together. Minhyuk then grabbed a spoonful of rice, tofu, and zucchini and placed it in his mouth.

“Chew, chew. Good. It’s really good!” He mumbled to himself happily.

Then, he placed a seaweed on top of his rice and easily folded it in half. He quickly dipped it in soy sauce before placing it in his mouth. The crispy texture of the seaweed and the salty flavor of the soy sauce was truly excellent! Minhyuk could not help but chuckle at the taste.

Minhyuk stretched his spoon towards the soft steamed egg next. He blew softly at the yellow steamed egg as he placed it in his mouth. Once he placed it in his mouth, he could taste the green onion from the soft and chewy steamed egg.

“Wow. Isn’t this too awesome?”

Still reeling from the taste of the steamed egg, Minhyuk reached his chopsticks out and tore a piece of meat from the salted mackerel to eat with his rice. The piping hot rice and the steaming mackerel entered his mouth in one go!

“Chomp!”

The savory taste of the salted mackerel made the taste of the rice infinitely better. Then, he dipped it in soy sauce with wasabi and took another bite.

“Wow! It’s a rice thief! A rice thief, I say!”

That was not the end. Minhyuk added some steamed egg to his rice and mixed it well before placing the delicious combo in his mouth. The slightly salty steamed egg and the piping hot rice combined to create an extremely pleasant taste. The Food God’s home-cooked set meal was extremely delicious! He was filled with an overwhelming admiration for the man who left it for him. After Minhyuk finished eating everything, the notifications rang in his head.

[You have eaten a dish made by the Food God.]

[You have leveled up.]

Minhyuk nodded. The level up might not have been much but it seemed like the rewards for this dish were focused on EXP and items gained from feeding the monsters as well as the monster egg. However, Minhyuk still felt the best reward was the dish that the Food God had made. As he finished his food, Minhyuk felt that he might have forgotten something.

“It’s still a bit disappointing,” Minhyuk said. He wanted to have something that was more delicious. Then, he looked around and saw the sleeping Chronicle!

When he asked the other monsters, the other monsters said that Chronicle tended to sleep a lot. When she fell asleep, sometimes it would take a week before she woke up. So, Minhyuk quietly crept up towards the sleeping Chronicle.

***

Chronicle slowly woke up from her sleep. When she saw that Minhyuk was plowing the fields vigorously to try and save the monsters, she looked at him fondly and fell asleep without any worries. She had been sleeping more deeply because she was hungry. No noise could even rouse her from her sleep.

Chronicle, who was on the verge of waking up, heard a sound near her. The voice said, “Right, right. Good job, well done... The wyverns should come closer.”

‘What are they doing?’ Chronicle thought. She listened in a daze as they worked somewhere in her vicinity. Then she heard the sound of something ripping.

“Keuhaha! The hot bar that’s heated with fire is really delicious!”

The voice was whispering, but his tone and joy were truly contagious.

“Let’s grill it one more time. Yes, yes. Be careful not to wake...”

Then, Chronicle woke up completely. Now fully awake, Chronicle could see Minhyuk holding a skewer with five hot bars on it while riding on a wyvern and roasting it on her own fire.

“...?”

“...”

“...?”

“...”

Minhyuk made eye contact with Chronicle. Both of them remained speechless.
