74 The Aftermath

Shane waited impatiently for the signal to cross the road. He followed the direction given by Bobby, and when he turned, he found someone lying on the ground. His heart raced as he sprinted over to see that it was Lillian Grey.

His body s.h.i.+vered as he saw her state, lying down with various bruises, scratches and worn out jeans. His heart broke seeing her like that. He removed his jacket and covered her body which became cold. He carried her back to his home and laid her on his couch.

Shane went to bring out the first-aid kit to treat Lillian's wounds. After providing the necessary first-aid treatment, Shane called for help. Soon, the doctor arrived and checked on Lillian's state.

The doctor gave her IV drips and prescribed a few medicines to apply and intake after eating. Shane put her on his guest room, where Lillian slept receiving her IV treatment.

"She hasn't eaten any food? That must have been the problem behind her faint. Other than that, I've given the ointment for her bruises; make sure to apply that two times a day. Tell her to eat a proper meal regularly, not the fast food stuff. If there's any problem, call me." The doctor reported before leaving.

Shane went inside the kitchen to cook something to feed Lillian after she's awake from sleep. He doesn't cook very often at home, and so got stuck with the doctor's advice of proper healthy meal. He stood in silence thinking about a way to prepare Lillian's food. Suddenly, an image crossed his mind.

Jenna!

Shane took out his mobile and texted Jenna for some tips and advice about 'proper healthy meal.'

He waited, quietly.

Within the next few seconds, he received a text. It is from Jenna.

Jenna:

Oatmeal is good, and easy to prepare. Kindly have porridge and a fruit salad, as both are very easy to cook and healthy too. But it's good to hire a maid to prepare your meals, Mr. Ricardo. Take care of your health. Let me know if I can help.

Shane felt relieved after reading Jenna's message. He can prepare simple recipes like Oatmeal and salad. However, his happiness soon faded as he stared at his empty kitchen without any ingredients to those simple recipes.

...

He checked on Lillian, and she's still asleep. He wrote a note for her in case if she's going to wake up and find n.o.body inside the house.

Shane left his place to buy food. Before leaving, he informed Bobby to keep an eye on Lillian, if she tries to go without a word. Bobby agreed.

Just like that, he went out to shop the ingredients while Lillian still resting.

Shane returned home with lots of fruits, vegetables, and grocery's to cook. He found that Lillian hasn't woken up from sleep. It has been several hours, and it started to make him feel scared. He left the shopping bag in the kitchen and went to the guest room to check on Lillian.

He patted her head and called out her name.

Lillian didn't respond.

Shane tried again, and this time, Lillian tossed in her sleep. She opened her eyes slowly. Being back to normal made her realize the pain all over her body. Her stomach growled from starvation. Too much of feeling to handle at once, when Lillian's eyes became clear, she saw Shane in front of her.

Dash.

The memories from before fainting down came rus.h.i.+ng back to her mind that she felt pain instantly.

"Lillian, take it slow. Relax," Shane whispered gently.

Lillian Grey, who's unable to control herself at the moment, felt her tears dropping down. She got shocked at herself.

Quickly, she jumped out of her bed. Shane feared at her actions and tried to calm her down.

It didn't work as he realized that Lillian Grey is not by herself, right now. He wanted to use his strength the hold back her from being reckless again.

But, it failed as Lillian pushed him away and ran out of the house. She came outside.

Bobby tried to stop her too but didn't work. She looked like an angry beast looking for prey.

"Lillian, stop it, right now. You're not acting like yourself. Calm down and relax." Shane spoke as he came out following Lillian.

Lillian Grey turned back, her fiery eyes pierced at Shane, making him flinch all over. He had never seen Lillian this angry or p.i.s.sed off. Been her friend, he had seen Lillian maintained her cool all the time. But, right now, Lillian Grey's eyes can hurt anyone who would go against her.

"Lillian-"

Even before Shane tried to speak, Lillian's words cut him off.

"Shut up, and leave me alone," Lillian replied with her eyes still piercing at Shane.

Shane watched Lillian walking away. He felt anxious watching his friend leave miserably.
