10 Chapter 10

Aldarion kept looking at the map of the region that Gersten had given him. On the map he had marked with an 'X' the place where the farm should be, but as much as he observed, he did not know where he was.

Frustrated, he scratched his head and shouted into the air to relax. He looked up and stared at the clouds in the sky. While he was doing it, he began to escape and calm down, when suddenly he heard sounds in the woods next to the road, not far from him. The sound was of barking.

Aldarion was hesitating whether he should take a look or not, but he was very intrigued by what he decided to go. For him it was really normal, he only had a few days in a world that he loved and was curious about everything.

Carefully he approached the source of the sound, but the closer he got he began to hear that there was also a person and sounds seemed to be fighting. With the new information, he accelerated the step, also extending caution. If there was someone in danger, he wanted to help. "Who knows, maybe it's a young lady in distress." Aldarion thought. "Quiet! Your hero comes to rescue you!" He told himself jokingly.

When he was close enough, he observed the scene that was happening. What he saw was what looked like a man fighting three wolves. They were normal wolves, we had to thank them that they were not worg. By his breathing Aldarion could see that the man was tired, besides he was in a very bad situation being surrounded by the wolves.

Aldarion did not hesitate and prepared to help him. He took his bow and aimed at the head of one of the three wolves. Aldarion was confident that at the distance he was able to hit. He shot the arrow and it quickly hit the wolf through the neck and killed him.

The death of the wolf surprised the wolves because they had not realized that Aldarion was there until it was too late. This was thanks to his new stealth ability that allowed him to approach without being noticed. The problem was that the sudden attack not only distracted the wolves, but also the man who looked away for a moment and one of the wolves took advantage of the slip to rush against the man.

The man who could not dodge it prepared to receive the charge of the wolf. The wolf jumped and the man raised his left arm for protection while with the other hand he held his sword. As soon as the wolf pounced on him, he protected himself from his bite and thrust the sword into the wolf's chest, dropping the dead one.

The problem was that the wolf fell on him with all his weight, so that the man fell back and was caught with the wolf on top. The other wolf approached him to attack him and when he was about to bite his face what the man saw was the tip of a sword sticking out of the wolf's mouth.

Returning to a few seconds before, just the moment when Aldarion killed the first wolf. Aldarion realized that the wolves were going to attack the man and he did not want to shoot another arrow because being so close the wolves of the man feared to fail and hurt the man, or worse, could kill him. Therefore, he kept his bow and quickly drew his sword. When he got to where the man was, he realized that one of the two wolves had already died but the other was going to kill him. He quickly stabbed his sword into the neck of the wolf killing him.

The man, reacting to this fact, knew that he was no longer in danger so he tried to take the wolf off but could not and all he got was to let out a groan of effort. Aldarion noticing he wiped his blood sword in the fur of one of the wolves and sheathed it. Then he helped the man take off the wolves.

When the man got up he looked at Aldarion from top to bottom and with a voice as if he had a cold he gave Aldarion thanks by tilting his head a little in a sign of respect.

"You're welcome." he answered without further ado. Aldarion imitated the man and looked him up and down as well. What Aldarion saw was a man wearing dark leather clothes, a dark green cloak with the hood on and his face hidden with a cloth. I could only see his eyes and forehead.

By his characteristics, to Aldarion the first impression that it gave him is that it was a Dunedain like him because it had the greenish-gray eyes characteristic of the Dunedain, but, on the other hand, the man was a shorter head than him and if he noticed well , until he seemed much thinner. "Are not the Dunedain supposed to be very tall? And a warrior should not be more robust?" Aldarion thought to himself.

Even though Aldarion thought there was something wrong he did not want to inquire very much. To begin with if he started questioning the man, he could be annoyed. Besides, he did not want to give his ident.i.ty either. If the real man was a Dunedain he could inform his brother where he was from and his adventure would end.

Anyway, the most important thing for him was to get to the farm and maybe the man could tell him how to get there. "I hope you do not mind, but you know where this farm is?" Aldarion took the map and pointed to the brand. The man without saying anything simply nodded. Seeing that he did not say anything else, Aldarion asked another question. "Could you tell me how to get there?"

The man did not say or do anything for a few seconds, but suddenly he turned around and told Aldarion to follow him. "Are you going to guide me?" Asked Aldarion. To which the man simply nodded again.

Aldarion had realized that he was a man of few words, but still wanted to try to start a conversation with him so he started with the basics. "Thank you so much for everything. By the way, my name is Thalion." He lied. "How should I address you?" Aldarion continued.

The man did not answer anything and for a long time, which became minutes, a very uncomfortable silence remained and when Aldarion thought he was not going to receive any reply from the man he suddenly heard him say. "You can call me Slippery."
