“Ji-Ji!”

On a peak within the Mt. Black Clouds, a Three-Tailed Spirit Fox was running around gaily. It just leaped onto a gigantic rock when a white light shot and flashed past it like a bolt of lightning, settling itself fast in front of the little fox. It was also a little white fox, but this fox had five tails!

“Ji-Ji!”

The little fox’s face glowed with happiness and delight, its tiny body leaped up from the ground while white light shone from within the five-tailed fox; and it transformed into a middle-aged lady whose beauty was alluring enough to suffocate people.

“Ji-Ji!”

The little fox jumped into the arms of the middle-aged lady. Its face was full of grievance, and it couldn’t stop whimpering like a child who was bullied.

“Xiao Fei, how many times have I told you? The world outside is too dangerous, but you still took the chance and ran out when I was in seclusion?”

The middle-aged lady let out a soft sigh and caressed the little fox’s head using her dainty hand. The little fox squinted its eyes in comfort, and the beautiful lady’s face was full of love. A killing intent flashed through her eyes soon afterward before she lowered her voice and said, “What happened just now? Why did I sense that you are in danger? Did a human attempt to kill you? Hurhur, whoever dares to touch my precious daughter—I would slaughter him into a thousand pieces.”

“Ji-Ji!”

The little fox let out a squeak, but its little face was full of humanity as it pondered. It seemed that it was deciding if it wanted to recount the incident where Jiang Yi tried to kill her to the middle-aged lady.

The middle-aged lady saw that the little fox became quiet. Her vision was filled with killing intent in an instant, and she scanned the surrounding before remarking coldly, “It seems that someone did want to kill you. Hurhur. There were thirty-two people in this mountain—all of them must die!”

“Swis.h.!.+”

The middle-aged lady suddenly soared up and was floating in mid-air. She dashed and shot straight towards where Jiang Yi was. Within a blink of an eye, she reached the boulder where Jiang Yi was. She stopped aloof and proud in the air and had her vision locked on Jiang Yi who had fainted on the ground. She said coldly, “Xiao Fei, this man had got the smell of your breath on him. Was he the one who tried to kill you?”

“Ji-Ji!”

The little fox looked at Jiang Yi, who was lying on the ground, and let out a sound suddenly, shaking its head towards the middle-aged lady.

“Hmph!”

The middle-aged lady snorted coldly and reprimanded the little fox with a hint of annoyance while looking at it, “Xiao Fei, how many times have I told you this? Humans and demonic beasts are natural enemies. Although we have the intelligence of a human, we are not human—but beasts! Humans have never been kind to us so when they try to harm us, we must never be softhearted. Child, you are too kind.”

“Ji-Ji!”

The little fox shook its head stubbornly. Two white lights shone from its eyes, and it seemed like it was transmitting some messages to the middle-aged lady.

The middle-aged lady’s eyes were determined, and she shouted coldly, “No! Even if he let you off in the end, he cannot be forgiven! Whoever touches you must die!”

“Ji-Ji!”

The little fox was also staring at the middle-aged lady with exceptional determination in its eyes. It kept shaking its head and couldn’t stop squeaking. She grabbed on her tightly and shook her lightly as if a stubborn little child was having a grudge against its mother. Its small eyes and little face were full of determination.

A white light glowed in the middle-aged lady’s palm, and she was prepared to slaughter Jiang Yi. Just when she was about to strike down, she made eye contact with the little fox, and her expression finally softened. She let out a deep sigh and said, “Sigh, why are you so kind, my child? You will be at the losing end one day if you continue to be like that. Forget it, forget it! Just remember that you mustn’t run around next time.”

After finis.h.i.+ng her words, the middle-aged lady shot towards the depths of Mt. Thirty Thousand. Within a few blinks of the eye, she vanished within the cl.u.s.ter of mountains, and the surroundings once again returned to its original peace and quiet.

Jiang Yi remained unconscious on the ground. Liu Lao and the rest of the people were still unconscious inside the cave as well.

No one knew what happened at the end, and they have no idea that it was because of Jiang Yi’s soft-heartedness at the last minute—where he didn’t continue to tame the little fox—that saved everyone’s life.

The middle-aged lady was extremely powerful. If she found out that her own daughter had been tamed to become a spirit beast, she would be raging with fumes and infuriated like the clash of thunders. Not only would Jiang Yi and the rest be dead, but also people from miles away—including Spirit Beast City and Mt. Spirit Beast College—would suffer the consequences as well.

“Swis.h.!.+”

It wasn’t long before two shadows shot out from Spirit Beast City and darted into the Mt. Black Clouds towards the direction where Jiang Yi was.

Jiang Yi’s encounter with the Three-Tailed Spirit Fox was only a brief moment, and Spirit Beast City was at least a few miles away from where Jiang Yi was. It was considered remarkable for the two martial experts to receive the signal and arrived at the scene within such a short time.

It was natural for the two people to be martial experts from the two clans which were watching over Spirit Beast City. Both of them were at the eighth stage of the Soul Travel Realm with remarkable strength and power. Spirit Beast City was the southernmost city in the Divine Martial Kingdom. One must pa.s.s through the city in order to get to the Great Xia Kingdom and the Heaven Mystics Kingdom in the South, and it was situated beneath the Mt. Spirit Beast College. Hence, the city itself was naturally of great importance, and it was not unusual for the two clans to send martial experts to watch over the city.

The two of them arrived at the scene and investigated the surroundings skeptically, but they hadn’t discovered any danger. Although both of them hadn’t seen Jiang Yi before, they had seen his portrait and information; hence, they brought him up into the cave as well.

After entering the cave, the two martial experts resuscitated everyone and began to question what had happened, only to find out that none of them knew what happened at the end.

Jiang Yi didn’t hide too much from them: he recounted his encounter with the Three-Tailed Spirit Fox, but he didn’t mention that the Three-Tailed Spirit Fox released demonic arts. He only mentioned that the fox left after taking a few looks from afar.

The demonic arts of the Three-Tailed Spirit Fox were very terrifying. If people found out that he survived after being attacked by the Three-Tailed Spirit Fox’s demonic arts, the whole continent would be in shock; and the priceless artifacts on him would be targeted by many martial experts.

Everyone was puzzled. No one knew where did that terrifying aura—that strong and powerful aura which managed to knocked off everyone—come from.

The first thing that the martial experts from the Qian Clan and the Zhan Clan decided on was that they couldn’t stay on the Mt. Black Clouds anymore, everyone must leave immediately. An existence which could use just an aura to knock out Liu Lao and Ji Lao had to be a martial expert from the Vajra Realm. Otherwise, it would have to be a demonic king—tier-four or beyond.

Whatever it was, it was too dangerous. It was natural for Qian w.a.n.guan and Zhan Wushuang, whose status that was of utmost importance, to not take the risk. Qian w.a.n.guan and Zhan Wushuang were prepared to leave, but Jiang Yi wouldn’t leave no matter how dangerous and risky it was.

How could Jiang Yi leave so easily when he hadn’t earned enough of the ten million purple gold and hadn’t tamed any spirit beast? And the most important of all, Jiang Yi thought that no matter whether it was a martial expert from the Vajra Realm—or a demonic beast with a rank of a demon king, since it hadn’t killed them this time around, they were safe.

For the existence that was at such a level, killing them would be as easy as squas.h.i.+ng an ant. Since it was safe here, then why couldn’t they continue staying here? Where else could he go to earn the purple gold as quickly if he was to leave the Mt. Black Clouds?

Qian w.a.n.guan and Zhan Wushuang tried to persuade Jiang Yi. After seeing how determined Jiang Yi was in staying behind, both of them followed the martial expert from their respective clans and left reluctantly. However, Qian w.a.n.guan left Qian Kun and the rest behind and instructed them to listen to Jiang Yi’s orders.

The Soul Travel Realm martial expert from the Qian Clan didn’t talk much to Liu Lao. To them, as long as nothing happened to Qian w.a.n.guan—even if Qian Kun and the rest of them died, it wouldn’t mean anything to them.

After sending them off, Jiang Yi saw how uneasy Qian Kun and the rest of the people looked. They looked worried and uncomfortable. He let out a smile and said, “Qian Kun, you guys don’t have to worry. If any powerful demonic beast would come and attack us, I will definitely die with you guys. After I have earned the ten million purple gold, I would continue hunting for more demonic beasts and give everyone at least fifty thousand purple gold each as a reward.”

Rewards allure men to brave danger. Qian Kun and the rest were prepared to give their best and let it all out. Weren’t they after purple gold when they sold their lives to Qian w.a.n.guan? As long as there was money, would it make a difference with regard to who they worked for?

Jiang Yi looked at the green mountains from afar. His mind was recalling about the little fox’s look. He sighed silently and murmured to himself softly, “Was it a mistake or not… letting the little fox off?”
