58 Chapter 58: The Flute Finally!

That's... fair.

I walked over to the shards of wood, and picked up a longer piece, I think of the torso.

'...I want to cut. To separate. Split apart, and be divided with s.p.a.ce between thyself...'

My vision flashed the black-and-white world for a moment, as I felt my magic take hold.

The idea was simple: just 'separate' the object to get the shape cut out of it.

But as I felt s.p.a.ce beginning to warp, I realize that I MIGHT have just found a manipulation of s.p.a.ce. Oopsies.

"The separation of s.p.a.ce is what I desire! Spatial Rend!"

...I'm glad n.o.body is awake to see me say that aloud.

The wood had a straight tube cut out of it, with some slight notches along it I purposely left in as I directed the 'cut' or 'split' into the shape I wanted.

I shook the block, and the tube slid out, along with some extra bits of wood to make s.p.a.ce for the notches for a mouth and the holes.

'Spatial Rend!'

Spatial Rend I [Proficiency 6%] Tier-2

'Well... most probably don't know about the concept of s.p.a.ce, to a degree of manipulating it. So yeah, I guess it being Tier-2 by this worlds system of complexity makes sense.'

I shook the tube, little cylinders of wood with rounded ends falling out, creating the holes for the flute.

The edges of the discarded pieces were rounded to create the 'wall' of the hollow piece, and with a final "Spatial Rend!" that tube(though the holes separated it into multiple tubes of wood technically) fell out.

I held it up, critically eyeing it, and cutting certain notches into its insides and such according to the data from a.n.a.lyze, seeing how air would flow and how to facilitate better sound.

By the end of the calculations of this "computer-like thing in my head", I had a very functional and well-made flute.

I smoothed the wood with wind pressure, like sanding but with tiny blades of with and WAY more efficiency, and mildly burned the wood(more like singed it!), making it all go from a light brown to a dark one.

Doing so made the wood more rigid, and also sealed the pores in it. Hopefully this meant that water couldn't make the wood expand or soften, ruining the flute. The pores sealed as bits of light sealed the pores with more wood by causing such growth. Then fire followed, glazing and darkening the wood without truly burning it.

'Nice use of Sacred Flake there...'

I spun the newly-crafted dark-brown flute, quite satisfied. I didn't need to put a reed piece as the sound was transferred by the notches changing it's pressure, and not by the reed's flexibility.

'It'd be near impossible to build such a thing on earth without perfect machinery and very precise and complicated calculations...it is very precise in the measurements to work. a.n.a.lyze and magic make my life so much easier.'

Okay maybe I'm exaggerating. We did have acoustic instruments that don't need a flexible piece to help, they just are not ever a flute... I think.

I stood up, and put my mouth to the flute, breathed in, and began to play.

A low, soft tune began to play, as I tried to match the rhythm of breath, matching the sleeping wolf, and stayed parallel for a bit.

Then, the tune began to pick up, a small bit of soul energy ringing out on the notes, as I began to feel out the mind within Fenrir.

I could feel his soul, and I knew I could just brute force in.

h.e.l.l, it looked tiny to me! But... I didn't want to hurt him obviously.

So I... encouraged? I just kinda directed a will and intent of entering, and slowly "pushed" the layers of mild energy as gently as I could with my own, and inside his mind, a piece of my soul energy took form.

I looked at myself, a part of me still playing music while I was in here. My "body", or form, was a sort of glowing white shape, vaguely a vertical oval-ish.

my surroundings were a strange forest. Each tree had clouds of smoke coming from the branches, rather than leaves, creating a "roof" of smoke overhead.

I looked ahead, and saw a wolf come forward.

It was Fenrir, I could tell, but... his body was covered in black-grey fur, and he had all his legs. Rather than red fur highlighting his paws, scruff, and ears, there were dark red flames flickering off those areas.

It created a sort of mane around his neck, starting at the sides and flaring up his neck, and spreading down his back a bit.

His ears were tipped in fire, his paws covered in it, his eyes glowing bright-red.

'Is that what his final form his???'

Oh. That's cool. So the smoke hound eventually becomes a Cinder Wolf? Don't worry buddy, I'll find a way to help you evolve further. Just lots of dark and fire elements, and I'll figure out the rest!

A 'voice' echoed throughout the realm, as it was his soul after all.

'His voice is pretty masculine... not unexpected, but just a neat detail there.'

"h.e.l.lo master Kyoku. I didn't expect you to enter my dreams."

"Ah! Yeah! Uh... wanted to see if I could wake you up... ehehe. Sorry bout that man."

"It is well enough. I am worried about what happened after your body seemed to be filled with another force... everything went gray for a bit, then I was stuff here, asleep but not. What happened?"

"Ah... well a dimensional traveler(at least I think he probably was) showed up."

"What?! An actual being capable of freely moving between realms? Are you sure?"

"Well that's what his appearance and manner indicated... he also changed my blade into a full-on sword, and it's now a spirit vessel."

"A spirit vessel?" His head tilted to the side, as it always does when he's confused. Gah! Fenrir why are you so cute!

"Yeah, seems like its an object that creates spirits by absorbing soul energy and elemental energies over time."

"Oh! That's quite good for you, isn't it?"

I nodded. "Mm, so I was able to come in here okay..."

"Hm... perhaps you ought to choose a proper soul-form first? And then I have a serious question for you."

Uh... what form to take? My actual body...?

'Hmm... maybe I should meet Fenrir on his own grounds though...?'

As I thought it, my spirit-self began to change, legs extending out as it bent over on itself, stretching out horizontally as color and fur covered it, until a little Fox emerged.

I looked at myself, noting that my tail and ears appeared different, as normally they were all just a solid red-brown for some reason, but now the tail was tipped in white, and my ears were darker with white inside it, as I noted with this strange viewpoint.

In a soul, you don't look through your eyes, but anywhere you like, so I could look at myself from a 3rd person perspective, which was... weird. I was... cute?

[Foxes are always cute, stupid character.]

...did I hear something? I'm not sure.

"Now, let's be serious here master."

Agh... I feel like I know what he's gonna talk about... can I just continue acting dumb please?

"Sir. How much of Luna's story rings true?"

"Uh... well not all of it is unreasonable. Sure the creation story is a bit ludicrous, but then again Christians believe that the universe was born of the phrase 'Let there be Light!' so who am I to judge?"

"I meant the elves, sir." His tone was clipped, impatient.

"Agh... of course I noticed. It would take an idiot not to read between the lines. I just like pretending a G.o.d doesn't have me on their hit list."

"Multiple. G.o.ds."

"Why are you bringing this up man?!"

He sighed. "Because I am your companion, a follower in your Dungeon. But first and foremost, I respect you as a individual, and a friend worthy of following and serving."

"I don't get it."

"Avoiding your problems won't make it go away. So tell me, right here and now, the truth of history we've already figured out. If you insist on hiding, then I, as your friend, will make sure you see your problems and are aware of these dangers, because that is what I should do."

"Ah..." I let out a breath through my fox-mouth.

"The G.o.ddess Milaki is..."
