36 Chapter 36: Birth Of Beastkin Tribes

"However, both elves and Beastkin claim that they were formed by the high G.o.d to be more like him as humans were too arrogant for his tastes."

I blinked. Well. That uh... sounds about right yeah. Humankind does seem a bit insufferable from a creators point of view. I'd have just deleted them and tried again with foxgirls too. Though he didn't actually get rid of the failed bit.

'Wait... I'm kinda prejudiced against humans aren't I? I mean... seems about right for a Beastkin mentality so I guess it's okay right now, and I don't view those children as less than me.'

'So why... why is it that whenever the human race as a whole is brought up in relation to other races, I'm filled with such bitter anger?'

'Is it because they're the ones who killed off my kind?'

It's quite likely that this Foxkin has actually begun to forget he was once human too and was fully thinking of himself as a Kitsune.

"So naturally with humans claiming they were the original sons of G.o.d, they enslaved everyone else to serve."

'WHOAH! Okay yeah humans are d.i.c.ks.'

"They deified themselves, claiming to be G.o.ds made by the most high, to be equal to the great one and as such, the idea energy began to move that way."

I suddenly almost tripped as my left foot caught on my right. Did she mean to say...?

"Yes. The G.o.ds of this world are created by tremendous amounts of idea energy, in other words the faith of their followers. We do not believe them to be creators, but masters."

"Even if we know our faith is what gives them such power, we still see that they are the masters of their G.o.dly domain, and as such believe it even more no matter what we try."

Silence fell for awhile. Finally I broke that silence with my observation on the matter.

"Seeing is believing I guess..."

Luna nodded at these profound words, a little surprised they came from this somewhat childishly hyper fox. If she knew he was giving out a common quote, she might have reacted a bit differently though.

I finally asked a question this brought to mind. "Then what is the Fox G.o.d? The first of our kind raised to G.o.dhood?"

"No. He is something entirely different."

I blinked, and Luna continued.

"The idea of G.o.ds had caused idea energy to become heavenly power granted to these G.o.ds, creating the heavenly realm, or the Celestial. As this new realm stacked upon our own came to be, its energies leaked here, and certain creatures might become touched by a G.o.d, and become a divine beast."

"On the other hand, Beastkin and Elves began to rebel against humans, and humans labeled them traitors. While the other races spoke of humanity as evil, and humanity spread rumors of the so called 'demihumans' crimes against the G.o.ds, perhaps it was inevitable that idea energy would create an opposing realm of evil, the Abyss."

I thought to myself, 'So... the Celestial is home of the G.o.ds and divine beasts, while the Abyss is the home of demons and evil.'

I finished the thought aloud, "but how does this involve Foxkin specifically?"

Luna roller her eyes at me, and continued telling the strange mythos of this world. "Well, simply put, there came a day where idea energy created mana to be a source of supernatural powers, and the believed way the world works became reality. The G.o.ds formed divine kingdoms, great heroes to who wors.h.i.+pped a G.o.d would join that kingdom as a heroic spirit, Elves became independent and created a pantheon of nature G.o.ds, while the Beastkin looked to the divine beasts as their celestials."

"Among all these events are a thousand tales, but only one concerns you. Unfortunately, I don't know very much of it, lost to time as it is..."

No... lost to death. That's why she doesn't know.

"But to say what is known, a group of people of unknown race questioned whether darkness was evil, and light was good. They pointed out the hypocrisy of G.o.ds, and morals in some demons, and caused a lot of anger. In the end, a Demon Fox came to them and defended them, granting his blood to them to transform them into a species of demon to defend them against the G.o.ds he hated."

Uh... so... wow. My ancestors weren't afraid to p.i.s.s people off huh.

"However, n.o.body expected that a fox who'd become a divine beast would not punish this, but rather help them. He took the essence of soul and magic of the divine, granting them to the Foxkin. So Foxkin are born of demonic and divine, and to become their guardian G.o.d, the two foxes fused together into one, a beast of demon flesh and divine soul, same as the race he had essentially created. So these people became part Fox, carrying the features of there creators."

Uh... wait. I have a question!

"Do you mean to say the Beastkin didn't originally have a fox tribe?"

Luna laughed. "Originally, no Beastkin career any specific animal traits, but were rather a more animalistic form of human. All the tribes of a specific animal are born from a divine or demonic beast."

Whoah... that's actually really neat. But then...

"...why is it that Foxkin were special?"

"You were born of both."

I widened my eyes a little. Dod that mean...?

"We Catkin are born of a demonic beast, the Lionkin are born of a Divine beast, the Serpentkin another demonic one. But Foxkin are unique in having both, and somehow, the fusion of both celestial and abyssal energies allows you to use magic in a way beyond the expectations of others."

"Spell chants came from prayers to borrow a G.o.ds power, because that's how the belief in magic began. Which is why you need the chant. But you carry both sides of that belief, in soul and flesh. Magic and blood."

"So you could do what only true demons and celestials could do before, and cast magic with a thought. However any other fusion of demonic and divine might doesn't have this effect."

I was surprised. Proud. Astonished. This was one h.e.l.l of a legacy to have! But yet... I felt sorrow knowing what came next. And continue Luna did.

"...and so the humans feared them."
