18 Chapter 18: Scaring Luna

I noticed as I went to go wake up Luna that the bridge leading from sh.o.r.e to the Shrine was gone.

'You have to swim to it now?'

I experimentally went over to it, and got a sort of... not so much a message as an instinctual feeling from Aqua. I stepped out onto the water, and the water was solid under foot.

Essentially, to walk to the shrine, one would need Aqua's permission, so the dungeon removed the bridge.

I stepped back on sh.o.r.e and started gently slapping Luna awake as I knelt next to her.

"Oi! Useless cat girl, teach me how to move water Elements!"

Her eyes opened in confusion and looked up at me. After a few moments clarity began to rush back in as her gaze rapidly started to my ears and tail, until it went back to my face. She sprung up to stand.

I could see her visibly gathering her thoughts before she turned to me with all seriousness and said "Sir! I think you need to be made aware of what exactly it means for a Foxkin to still exist-"

"Nope."

"..." Luna just froze as I cut her off. After a small pause, I continued.

"See, the whole 'what my existence means politically' thing just seems REEEEALLY like a HUGE red flag."

"So no. I'm going to figure out the c.r.a.p about Mind-Flayers and demons first. Once we're safe, you can tell me all about that other stuff."

Luna stood there in silence until with a sigh she said; "Fine... it does make sense, we should leave soon to secure our safety."

"Uh... I can't... leave."

Her head shot around to me. "WHY NOT?"

"Well..." 'Alright Buddy. Time to bulls.h.i.+t so well in a way that makes sense, includes bits of truth, and totally explains the Dungeon and me so I can explain the 3 behind her she hasn't noticed yet.'

"I'm kinda dead."

Luna's eyes kinda just widened a little bit.

"But my soul got like... grabbed out of the 'After' of life, because a dungeon was forming that used my soul to create its boss. So my Kitsune body was rebuilt(because of course I was an actual Foxkin), but I'm now the Boss of the Dungeon we're in right now."

She stood there, eyes widened, jaw shut, and I began to worry she was going to faint again.

"So... we're in a Dungeon."

"Yes. This clearing in the rocks, and the hill itself are the Dungeon."

"So the Core is in the shrine?"

My guard instantly went up as my tail's fur stood on end, poofing out as I took a step back and placing myself in between her and the shrine.

"Oh! No I wasn't going to take the stone. I know the destruction of a Dungeon and it's boss is guaranteed to drop a large chunk of material unique to that Dungeon with powerful effects, but I really didn't have any thoughts on it!"

My silence was the only answer.

"But uh... sir... why aren't there other creatures, like wolves in the orchards or something? Or slimes? Those are pretty basic Dungeon Creatures."

I sighed, relaxing slightly against this silly girl, and said "show me one water spell and I'll show you the other residents of this Dungeon."

I sent a mental message to them all to stay calm until she noticed them.

"Irk... okay..."

Okay. So little basic thing about magic here: unless you know how to interact with a basic element, or idea, you can't use magic to use it very well.

I could use Wind Magic now because a.n.a.lyze, or Identify at the time, helped me figure out the interaction between air elements.

So of course now that I got a.n.a.lyze, I should learn how to use Water Magic while I can.

"Spirits of the Waters, gather to my call, and form my desire. Strike with the tides, Tidal Whip!"

The water moisture in the air visibly gathered to form a whip that snapped around, until mana stopped flowing, causing the water to simply fall onto the ground as nothing supported it.

"Now what's blood magic do?"

As a way of answering the Neko lifted a fist, and tightened it. I could see the mana in the body moving, not to form a spell, but rather to infuse itself into her fist.

After a soft green glow began to appear around her fist even in normal eyesight, she punched forward, and right at the last second, a great amount of the gathered mana s.h.i.+t out of her fist and left a "PAH!" sound as it tore the air.

'So in short, you can use various and adaptable spells, or just throw it throughout your body light gasoline in an engine to go beyond your limits.'

"Alrighty. Well our other residents are the Water Elemental living in the lake, and 3 Tengu."

I think Luna's muscles were going to begin aching from how often she was suddenly freezing today.

"By Tengu would you happen to be referring to the Greater Demonic Spirits of War and Disaster that take on the form of crows to feast on the Dishonorable Dead?"

'Objection! This game has conflicting lore, the devs need to reign in their imagination! I expect clear lore, not two different stories!'

"Uhh... maybe? They do look PART crow..."

"W-well where are they?"

"Right behind you."

"AAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
