16 Chapter 16: All That Befuddles Me.

But on the top of the mountain, there was a flattened bit, the crown of the mountain, and lying upon it was a beast with dark red fur.

The sheer size when compared to the mountain and guessing how big that must be was ridiculous! It was bigger than the Dungeon!

As Identify was triggered, this data appeared.

Divine Beast: Nine Tailed Fox(Forgotten G.o.d)

Then I got an alert.

"...uh...oh...okay?"

Wasn't my dungeon like... in a coma?

"Hey are you just awake now?"

~Silence~

"Ohhhhkay."

I checked my technique page, and sure enough, 'a.n.a.lyze I' had replaced 'Identify II'.

I looked up at the beast on the mountain again, and the data created was now changed.

Name: ??????

Race: Nine Tailed Fox

Cla.s.s: G.o.d Beast(Lost)/Demon Beast

Age: ?????

Stats: ???

t.i.tles:

Divine Protector of the Kitsune

???????????? ?? ?????????

Skills: ???

So a.n.a.lyze now created character pages. Also am I seeing so little because it's not known or it's too high?

I find it interesting that Racial Talents, Techniques, and Spell Casting all fall under the Skills area.

But first and foremost, the fact that this guy is likely a G.o.d of the Kitsune who has been forgotten and became a Demon without his wors.h.i.+ppers? That freaked me out a bit.

I don't believe in coincidences, and the fact that the dungeon took on Kitsune architecture, is called the Kitsune Shrine, and that I was reincarnated as a Kitsune, while the f.u.c.kING G.o.d OF MY RACE is just sleeping a stones throw away? Yeeeeeeah that ain't no coincidence.

2 things lining up may be coincidence, but 3 is either straight up providence, or there's a reason.

Based on what I was told about 'matching well with a Kitsune body', and what I've experienced, I do believe that.

But I suspect the REASON I was chosen by the dungeon is because it was LOOKING for a soul compatible with a Foxkin body.

A new task updated onto the menu's Task screen(under the Income Tab):

Reward: Species Evolution(Potential Cure to Decaying State)>

"...so I have to go MEET that thing?"

I sighed to myself. Well, first things first, we need some defenses for the dungeon if I have to go out one day for that kind of distance.

First I got Elemental Gathering, promoting evolution, but got a higher tier one for double the DP(so 20), so all beings in the dungeon have a higher rate of evolution.

Then I used a.n.a.lyze to try and see if Elemental energy was the only way to evolve. Would I become a FireFox? I don't want to be trapped wrapped around a blue globe!

"*cough*, ignoring that bad joke..."

Apparently evolution is just using energy or materials abundant in the area to improve oneself. So I got 2 other kinds of "Gathering" upgrades, at full level.

Then all 3 fused into a single Dungeon Skill.

Causes evolutions of higher power and better ability to be more common and likely to beings within the Dungeon. Improves speed of evolving.(Pa.s.sive Dungeon Ability)>

Apparently the Dungeon is not yet at a level where that skill can be improved. Next, I got some Dungeon Guardians. Yep. I finally bought some mobs, purposely while Luna was pa.s.sed out, so she wouldn't suspect that this s.p.a.ce was anything other than a shrine.

So I decided to keep up with the j.a.panese Theme, knowing that the stories of Nine-Tailed Fox's originate from that area.

I bought

, which were deceived as a spirit, or 'Yokai', that lead or protect other yokai, while being bad luck and signs of war. Apparently they're dog spirits.

Why did I get a Tengu? Well the Dungeon rated them as a good creature with high growth potential. Real reason? I want a puppy.

As I clicked 'Buy', the mana flow began to rapidly be pulled to the shrine, as it was like the entire Dungeon was sucking in a deep breath, to the point where the gra.s.s actually rustled from the sheer amount of mana being pulled in.

I gaped at the display of raw, primal power. The amount of energy moving was enough that adding it to a FoxFire it could likely destroy this entire hill!

The mana began to form into a core hovering in front of the building, as the core became visible as a black sphere, stretching out in different directions until it was a pitch black sphere the size of my head.

Suddenly black feathered wings sprouted, 6 in total, growing to be as long as I was tall! The sphere kept getting bigger, and a red light began to pulse within.

Looking through the sphere I could see it was a thin membrane of energy growing rapidly as distinct shapes grew within at an equal rate, visible through the red pulsing light.

Finally after becoming bigger than any person, it stopped, and the six wings folded around it, covering it all, as a flash of red light pulses one last time.

Then from within the black-feathered wings, smoke became to pour, but it looked more like the steam from dry ice, but blackened. It continued to pour out until the wings s.h.i.+fted and pulled back.

Sitting on the ground were 3 distinct beings, each with their own 2 wings.

In the center was a female in a shrine maiden outfit, except all the white bits were black, holding a staff with a ring on top, with eight rings jangling on the main one.

To her left was a male in blood red samurai armor, with a pitch-black Katana in hand.

Finally on the other side was another female, this one with a blood red j.a.panese 'yukata', with a black wife ribbing pinned around its waist. She held 2 folding fans with blood red spines, and black paper.

"..."

They all looked up with similar features, with Asian looks to their faces, and all 3 had black hair and bright red eyes.

'...so... I expected a single dog spirit... and got 3 Asian models with fallen-angel wings? I didn't ask for a K-pop band! Wrong culture I know, but still!'

'Funnily enough it would seem they're likely siblings.'

'Well yeah! They're all born of the same black-Dungeon-egg-thing.'

I think the part I expected least was that I could sense them. I knew automatically that the shrine maiden specializes in healing and support, the one with folding fans was a more pure "Mage" archetype, while the samurai used magic to empower his blade, armor and body.

So if summoner a healer, fighter, and Mage.

Not to mention, I could tell their current condition, the emotions they felt were there if I looked for them, and I could tell exactly where they were no matter what.

'Well I guess that comes with being a Dungeon Boss.'
