9 Chapter 9: Impending Doom

It was a peaceful quiet night until dawn set and seven loud but distinct horns rang out from across the Dark Forest.

Jack: "Giii GIii!" / "Eat p.o.o.p!"

( "Intended meaning: "Holy s.h.i.+t!" )

Startled by the sudden sudden awakening his body and mind were jolted back into consciousness without warning.

Causing him to spring up and lose balance falling off the tree hitting the ground with a loud thud.

Getting back up on his feet he rubbed his head and wiped the sand from his eyes grumbling incoherent profanities under his breathe in a tired tone.

Jack: (" It's too f.u.c.king early to deal with this kind of s.h.i.+t. ")

With long yawn Jack picked up his weapon did some warm ups to wake himself up from his sleepy state of mind but as soon as he did,

He immediately noticed something was different about him today.

His body hadn't changed in any physical way, but he had a gut feeling that something skin deep about him did.

He could feel it somehow, but couldn't quite put his finger on it or determine what exactly about him made him feel this way.

His thoughts on the matter were set aside when he noticed something peculiar in the sky.

In the early morning sky behind the tall trees of the Dark Forest he could see a dense pillar made up of black smoke forming in the direction of the Goblin Cave.

He looked around to where he heard the other horns and found that there were six other smoke black pillars being formed making a total of seven in all.

Each one was quite some distance away from each other scattered across the Dark Forest.

The more Jack focused on one, the more he noticed there peculiarity.

The way they moved and formed a smoke pillar wasn't the way smoke should move on its own.

The movements were complex and coordinated twisting amongst each other like living creatures.

I rubbed my eyes to make sure I wasn't just seeing things wrong.

But it only made things worse for me as the movements became more strange and hypnotic.

It was like watching thousands of black snakes coil around each other surrounded in a layer of dense black fog to form the pillars that reached the sky.

I felt attracted to it somehow like they were beckoning me to come over.

It was like the black smoke was triggering an instinct inside of my Goblin Brain with its alluring but strange.appearance to come over.

Without me even noticing it, I was already subconsciously walking over to the closest one with my eyes glued to the sky.

My mouth was left hung open as drool started to leak out I dragged Clyde though the floor paying nothing in my path any attention.

Even letting the bugs and what scarce rabbits I stumbled upon go by me despite my growing hunger.

This feeling….

I forced myself out of it by giving myself a few tight slaps across my face.

(*Smack!) (*Smack!)

Leaving red hand print's on my mustard yellow cheeks I began to violently shake my head to snap out if its hypnotic trance completely.

Jack: (" Gee I sure hope I didn't miss the party. ")

In a sarcastic tone I swung Clyde behind my back and continued walking forward.

Normally my response would be to get as far away as possible from this strange smoke signal or take precautions and evaluate the weird situation before taking the risk of engaging.

But because of my time spent here I had become somewhat desensitized to the strange and fantastical and had just accepted things as they come.

No.... That's not it I placed my free hand over my stomach and looked down on it.

That feeling was back again, for some reason what should have been in place of my fear and suspicion was instead replaced by a feeling of antic.i.p.ation and fearlessness.

A stark contrast to my earlier encounter with the scar faced goblin hmm…

Something in Jack's mind clicked and he discovered what had changed in him his sense of fear was gone.

That part of his brain that told him what not to do and what to fear his flight response a very essential human piece of him was now missing.

Humans are naturally cautious and cowardly by nature especially when confronted with dangerous predators and the unknown this was a very important instinct towards human survival.

But with this lack of fear or worry it was a boost to my confidence in treading the strange and unknown or facing any dangers that lye ahead.

I didn't even care about the consequences that come with this kind of att.i.tude like death or injury.

I had planned to confront the scar faced goblin but only when and if I was one hundred percent sure of victory.

My plan of using dirty tactics to win was now considered null in my mind even if I couldn't win I was looking forward to giving that scar faced b.a.s.t.a.r.d some payback.

I was getting high on my own adrenaline I wanted to fight that scar faced goblin again right now!

Jack's already warped personality was beginning to become more and more unstable as a sense of blood l.u.s.t was beginning to develop within him.

A desire for carnage and destruction filled him with an addicting antic.i.p.ation to kill again.

A wicked smile was plastered on Jacks ugly yellow face as his beady red eyes began to glow with an ominous light.

Jacks heart was racing and his breathing had become heavy and slow with a methodical rhythm that only furthered his desire for vengeance.

He clenched the grip of his weapon causing the wooden handle to let out a crisp cracking noise damaging his precious weapon.

Squeezing the other fist so tightly that his nails dug deep into his hand causing blood to drip down.

Jack began to giggle uncontrollably before breaking out into loud laughter.

His overwhelming urge to kill and cause mayhem made him make a mad dash towards the Goblin crave running at top speeds.

Like a demon coming straight out of h.e.l.l Jacks body became a yellow and blue blur tearing his way through the forest with his bladed club laughing maniacally.

He smashed anything that got in his way including the large bugs and rabbits not even bothering to pick them up and eat them afterwards.

He smashed even the thick tall trees of the Dark Forest that got in his way causing them to fall over not even caring about the damage his precious weapon was taking from his brutish rampage through the forest.

Eventually his weapon shattered into splinters and rock shards from the abuse Jack was too busy to even notice this and continued using his bare fist to smash his way through.

Jacks fist's became a bruised and b.l.o.o.d.y mess that partially exposed the bones of his knuckle and were covered in thick splinters.

The pain only made things worse for him wanting to kill even more now he enjoyed the feeling of discomfort and stinging pain.

Jack was able to continue his rampage without pause because of the magical healing material in his pocket as he neared the Goblin Cave...

Meanwhile at the Goblin Caves Entrance stood a crowd of around thirty newly matured light green skinned goblins gathering around an elderly red goblin.
