She couldn't tell her son that Daddy had gone to find Mummy, for that would sound too suggestive.

Putting down the suitcase, Qiao Yu went over and said to Xia Ning. “That's right. Mummy, tell our son where I went yesterday, or he might mistake me for a good father.”

Xia Ning turned around and threw him a dirty look, wondering if he was trying to embarra.s.s her on purpose.

“Mummy, where did Daddy go yesterday?!” Enoch wouldn't stop until he got an answer.

Looking at her son in resignation, Xia Ning had no choice but said, “Your dad went to see me yesterday.”

“But why?” Enoch asked immediately. He then added. “Did Daddy miss you?” He then turned to Qiao Yu and gave him an accusing look. “Bad Daddy! You didn't take me!”

Qiao Yu raised an eyebrow at his son. “Didn't you say you wanted a baby sister?”

Enoch blinked and stopped shouting right away. “Where is she?”

Xia Ning looked at Qiao Yu in surprise. She hadn't expected him to bring that up.

Qiao Yu looked perfectly unperturbed. “Daddy went to find Mummy to make you a baby sister. We can't do that if you're around!”

“Then when can I see her?” Enoch seemed to accept Qiao Yu's explanation right away and turned his interest to his baby sister.

Qiao Yu looked at Xia Ning. “You'll have to ask your mum about that.”

Xia Ning stared at Qiao Yu. What the h.e.l.l is he talking about? That's not the way to talk to a kid!

“Mummy, when can I see my sister?” Tugging at Xia Ning's clothes, Enoch asked.

Xia Ning was at a loss of what to say. She then turned to Enoch. “Your daddy is just being silly!”

Qiao Yu turned to Xia Ning. “No, I'm not! You're a woman, of course, we have to ask you about making babies.”

Xia Ning threw a dirty look at him. “Shut up!” He knew perfectly well what she meant.

Seeing that Xia Ning was vexed, Qiao Yu pursed his lips and stopped talking. He knew that if he didn't, he would probably have to sleep outside, let alone share a bed with her.

Gao Wanhua came out of the kitchen and smiled wholeheartedly as she watched the family of three. Somehow, the interaction between Xia Ning and Qiao Yu seemed to have changed after they went out together this time.

That whole night, Enoch nagged Xia Ning about when he could see his baby sister, which baffled Xia Ning. Both Qiao Yu and Gao Wanhua looked at her expectantly as well.

In the end, Xia Ning grew so shy that she left the kid to his dad and grandma, while she went upstairs to have a moment alone.

Xia Ning had fallen asleep when Qiao Yu carried Enoch upstairs.

Enoch turned to his dad. “Daddy, Mummy is a lazy piglet. She sleeps so early.”

Qiao Yu raised an eyebrow at Enoch. “Your mum is tired. She was like this when we had you.”

Enoch was elated. “Is my baby sister coming soon?” He then added. “Daddy, don't let Mummy be so tired.”

Qiao Yu glanced at his son. “How else are we going to give you a baby sister?”

Enoch looked conflicted. “Can you make her just a little tired?” As much as he wanted a baby sister, he didn't want to see his mother exhausted.

Qiao Yu didn't reply. Looking at Xia Ning, who was lying on the bed, Qiao Yu narrowed his eyes. As long as he worked hard enough, he was sure he would have a baby daughter!
