The Seven Deadly Sins, who were camping just slightly further away, had spotted Xiang Ning and the rest.

“Lord Vulture, they look like people from the fortress. I think they’re headed in the same direction as us.”

All of them were looking at the man wearing the vulture mask.

“People from the Federation? You should know what to do without me asking, right?” Lord Vulture was standing underneath a tree. From his vantage point, he could only see the top of Xiang Ning’s head, but his eyesight was sharp. The other members were somewhat afraid of him.

“We understand, Lord Vulture!”

Lord Vulture might look calm on the outside, but the members who had followed him for a long time knew how hot-tempered he was. He was also very strong, which was why the higher-ups had given him this mission, 

Lord Vulture saw that five of his members immediately split off and headed in Xiang Ning’s direction. Lord Vulture felt a bit pissed, because they didn’t even inform him of what they wanted to do! There’s a tier six beast on the verge of laying an egg over there. It constructed a temporary nest.” The cult member stepped forward and looked toward the sky. “This is the fastest path to get through this city. Looking at the sky, it seems that it’ll rain soon. I predict that the people from the Federation will take the risk and pass through this particular area. To be able to enter here means that they aren’t weak at all.”

Lord Vulture nodded. The cult member continued, explaining in excitement, “That’s why second brother and the rest will only need to hide and wait until the people from the Federation pass through the city center. Once they’re here, we only need to create a disturbance to alert the beasts of their presence. Once the chaos starts, we can take the chance to sneak in and see if the tier six beast has already laid its egg or not.”

Lord Vulture’s anger was immediately appeased and he approved his underling’s plan. How did he not think of it?

The cult member was elated. Since his lord had agreed, they only needed to do it.

“Lan Quan, they look like people from the Federation. I think they want to pass through here just like us.”

Lan Quan, the leader of the group, nodded. He tapped his watch and a map floated out. He examined it and ordered, “Don’t let them discover our presence. We need to follow them, but silently. Since they haven’t found us, we should let them take the heat.”

“Yes, sir!” the others chorused. Lan Quan turned and looked at the sky. “It’ll rain soon. Activate your camouflage, we’ll be able to maximize its ability here.” Thunder rang across the sky as it started raining.

The six of them vanished in the rain just like that.

As for Xiang Ning, he had no clue about the other two parties. They were still on the building surveying the situation.

“A total of eighty-eight beasts, six of them Beast Generals. That’s just the ones on the street. There should be more in the buildings. I estimate around three hundred of them.” Xiang Ning gave an estimate as he used his binoculars to count the beasts.

“There should be a very strong beast around here acting as a leader. That usually happens when we see a large group of different beasts. It should be around tier five or six in that case.” Gu Kun spoke from experience.

Usually, beasts were extremely territorial so they would fight each other. But when there was a group of Beast Generals, that meant there was an incredibly powerful beast acting as the leader there.

“What should we do?” Chu Long asked.

Yu Qian extended her arm and smiled. “This would usually be difficult, but it seems that it will be easier for us today.” A raindrop fell on her hand as it started heavily raining. Some of the beasts below gave a low rumble or howled before they went and found shelter.

Soon, most of the beasts had gone into hiding and only a few were left roaming outside. There were very few beasts on the streets.

“The heavens are really helping us!” Long Xiaoqi chuckled.

Yu Qian, however, warned, “Little sister, while the rain is beneficial for us, there’s still some cons. We can’t use the main street and can only use the smaller streets with a lot of rubble. But since it’s raining, many of the beasts are now seeking shelter in the smaller streets and in the abandoned buildings in the area.”

Long Xiaoqi sulked when she heard that. “Then won’t it be easier for us to be discovered by the beasts?”

“At the very least, our scent and sound will be masked by the rain. As long as we can escape their detection, we should have a chance to pass through them. It would be impossible if it wasn’t raining.”

Chu Long nodded and patted Long Xiaoqi’s head. “Listen and learn from her.”

Long Xiaoqi swatted his hands away and pouted. “So what should we do now?

All of them looked at Xiang Ning as the latter smiled. “There’s a way.”

Long Xiaoqi was puzzled.

“Let’s go.” Xiang Ning turned and entered the stairway. The left side of the building had been obliterated, most likely from a beast’s attack. Only the right side remained, so they were walking down from that side.

From a dark pile of rubble, the cult members were silently looking at them.

“Hehe, to think that there are two beautiful ladies there. It’s almost a shame to kill them.”

“Stop spouting nonsense and quickly follow them! Lord Vulture will be observing us. If we succeed, we’ll be much more appreciated by him and get some good rewards!”

“Aye! Let’s go!” The cult members silently followed Xiang Ning and his team.
