Chapter 383 Stay... Stay Back!

Xiang Ning charging forward was no reckless move. He could feel that the Blizzard Fox’s number one target was himself, and from the fierce glint in its eyes, he could tell its yearning for the thirty-plus humans. The beast’s instinct was to consume humans and evolve. That was why he couldn’t let the Blizzard Fox get to them. If it successfully ate more humans, not only would Sect Master Qiu’s previous efforts be wasted, but nobody would be able to escape the beast!

The rapidly approaching Xiang Ning attracted the fox’s attention, but when it glanced toward him, it let out an eerie smile. His chest tightened—the fox was sprinting for the humans!

The fighters noticed it, too, and roared, “Xiang Ning, don’t come here! Run!”

“KILL!”

“KILL!”

“KILL!”

The group of thirty pointed their weapons at the beast. To be honest, when they saw it heading for them, they were ready for death. They felt that Xiang Ning coming over to help would be a suicide mission. It was already too kind of him to save them from the stampede, all of them strangers to him. They weren’t greedy enough to wish to return alive. This stampede had lasted for several days already, and fighters had to fight all twenty-four hours of the day. And every single time they went to battle, they never thought about going home alive.

Returning would be the luckiest thing to happen to them. All they knew was that if they died, at least they helped.

While they were preparing to die, three knives shot toward the Blizzard Fox’s head. Those were three of Xiang Ning’s Hunter Mk. 7 knives, all of them sharp enough to break through a tier seven Beast King’s defenses.

But his Mental Power just wasn’t enough. In fact, it didn’t distract the Beast King at all. He clenched his jaw, then ten Mk. 6 knives flew out of their sheaths toward the Beast King’s critical points, while another three flew in a separate direction.

Those three knives were flying toward Sect Master Qiu, who had arrived just in time and supported Xiang Ning’s knives using his own Mental Power.

With the help of a tier seven Sect Master, the knives flew faster than a bullet, and since the Blizzard Fox was already preoccupied with Xiang Ning's Mk. 6 knives, it only noticed the new knives when they were already close.

The fox flicked its flexible tail, swatting one of them away at the cost of a shallow cut on its tail. But there were two more knives—one of them was dodged while the other buried deep into its neck! Blood instantly spurted out. It cried in pain and frustration, swatting it away.

Sect Master Qiu shot out with his spear, bringing with him the force of an army, but due to his old injury flaring up, although he was able to hurt the fox, he was still swatted away.

Other than the head, the rest of a beast’s body had better defenses than humans, especially when they achieved tier seven, where the fundamental properties of their body change. Tier seven humans are able to fight Beast Kings, but despite the same level of cultivation, humans would take significantly longer to kill the beasts due to their defenses. On the other hand, the beast could quickly kill the human.

If only there was one more tier seven master present, they would have enough manpower to kill the fox.

Xiang Ning could tell that there was no stopping this fox; where were they going to get another tier seven master? He took a look at his user interface.

He needed a hundred thousand more Experience Points to advance to tier five.

Xiang Ning clenched his jaw, making his decision. Accelerating, he charged at the Blizzard Fox, then activated Taunt and shouted. The tier seven Beast King was immediately attracted to him.

“Heaven’s Key Armor!” he shouted, then poured three healing potions into his mouth without swallowing. The Blizzard Fox flicked its tail at him.

“Triple Slash!”

“Mountain-Splitting Slash!”

“Oscillate!”

The Devourer turned reddish gold, radiating a pure heat that twisted the air around it.

To the rest of the people, it was a fearless struggle. But even if this was a last struggle, it was still a heart-stopping one. The tail coiled around Xiang Ning and squeezed him as he clenched his jaw, trying not to spill the potion, and slashed his sword downward.

The extreme heat from the sword burnt the fox’s fur to a crisp.

“Silent Burial!” he internally screamed, not unlike the Blizzard Fox screaming in pain. It swung its tail and Xiang Ning crashed to the ground, forming a crater that Xiang Ning was bounced out of from the impact.

He couldn’t keep the healing liquid in, his mouth opening for a brief second as green liquid and fresh blood sprayed out. He immediately clamped his jaw, holding back the suffocating feeling as he swallowed both blood and healing potion down.

As the healing potion was healing his body, the fox lifted its foot to squash him. But how could Sect Master Qiu do nothing? He threw his spear across, bringing with it a strong gust of wind as it buried into the fox’s back, pulling its attention that was under the influence of Taunt back.

It roared in rage.

Fang Rou covered her mouth, tears flowing down her cheeks, while Wu Rui clenched his fist, fresh blood dripping from his hands.

“Xiang Ning….”

“Kill!”

“Take him away!”

“We’ll fight that filthy animal to death!”

The group of thirty martial artists was blinded with rage the moment they saw Xiang Ning struggling to breathe after the impact.

“Stay… stay back!” Xiang Ning’s eyes reddened when he saw them charging at him, and in a moment’s panic, he punched the ground so hard his fist bled. “I’m begging you, don’t come here!” he forced the words out as veins popped out on his face and neck, but his voice was just too weak. He hadn’t recovered from the gigantic impact yet, and even breathing was difficult.

Externally I am chill, internally I am screaming because of the cliffhanger!!
