Chapter 378 Jokes

The other people looked at the bright dots on the projection, marveling that these were Xiang Ning's peers. Every single one of them was at the front of the front lines, and they weren’t even of age yet!

Chu Long was shaken.

“Xiang Ning, let us help you. You won’t be able to break through the stampede alone.” He left the rest of his words out. There were many beasts out there and Xiang Ning's current strength meant he would definitely be targeted by other stronger beasts. He stuck out, and if he unleashed his power, the vitality he would put on display would be an irresistible meal to the beasts.

But Xiang Ning shook his head. “It’s fine. I can do it on my own, and faster, too.”

To be honest, Chu Long was uncomfortable with that answer. Strength in numbers was true in many situations, especially battle.

Xiang Ning didn’t explain, walking straight toward the exit. Chu Long folded his arms, deciding that no matter what he said, he must follow him.

Once they passed through the tunnel, the cannons were roaring and before them was the chaos of man and beast, blood and flesh flying everywhere. Lives were lost with every passing second; both humans and beasts had gone mad with violence.

They had just emerged when four or five beasts charged toward them. The group was about to move when a flash of light flew past them, and in just a few seconds, the light returned and floated by Xiang Ning’s side. Fresh blood dripped off the tip of the knife.

All of the beasts that approached had died of punctured hearts.

Chu Long had nothing to say; he had never met someone so eerie. Xiang Ning was already insane as a martial artist, but now he was a spiritual cultivator, too?! He wasn’t human.

“No, no, no!” He shook his head. Although Xiang Ning was a powerful spiritual cultivator, Chu Long must fight too. He was there to train, after all, and with his current tier four, nine-star abilities, he should take the chance to rescue the many trapped squads out there.

Xiang Ning didn’t have time for Chu Long, but sprinted ahead with his Shadowmist Ghost Step. Ten tier six knives flew from his waist. Back in Marsh CIty, Qi Jiuming had ordered three tier seven knives, ten tier six knives, thirty tier five knives, and sixty tier four knives for him.

Now, his maximum capacity was controlling sixty tier four flying knives and ten tier five knives. As for tier seven weapons, he could control five, but seeing as Qi Jiuming was about to punch him at the time, he chose to graciously accept them. The knives had cost seven hundred thousand dollars in total, the three tier seven knives making up forty percent of the cost. The sheer magnificence of tier seven and above weapons was evident.

Tier six knives could cut tier beasts up to tier four like tofu, so if one were to observe the battlefield from above, Xiang Ning looked like a sharp sword piercing into the belly of the beast horde, charging in a straight line and leaving death in his wake.

In barely ten seconds, he had left a hundred-meter-long trail of dead beasts. Chu Long wondered if he should change his route. Why did it feel like he was missing out on the experience following Xiang Ning?

As Xiang Ning was doing his best to rush to the front, Wu Rui, Fang Rou, Li Zimo, and more than fifty other martial artists were trapped by Blizzard Foxes. The foxes were the minions of the Fox King, every single one of them a Beast General of at least tier four and above. Their physiology made it difficult for brute-force martial artists like Wu Rui to kill just one.

Yet the foxes relentlessly killed onward, even battle armor could not protect the humans from their sharp claws.

“Shit, I can’t believe I’m getting played by some foxes!”

“Why aren’t the foxes dying? It’s like they’re made of cotton!”

“Don’t attack the body, hit the head! Their heads are hard, I knocked two of them like that!”

No matter what, the number of humans was declining, and the foxes who had eaten the flesh of humans and their peers were even more terrifying, growing stronger and faster. By that point, one of Wu Rui’s arms was already covered in wounds and blood.

“Why hasn’t help arrived!”

“Don’t even think about that! We’re fighting to the end with these animals! We’re at the front line and we don’t know how far the beasts have made it! Don’t you hear the sounds of the cannons? We can’t go back!”

The remaining twenty-plus fighters had hopelessness in their eyes, which quickly turned into madness as various regrets ran through their minds.

“Fang Rou, four of us will clear a path for you later. You go, and don’t turn back. You mustn't die here!” urged Wu Rui.

“Never! I won’t leave!”

“Think of Xiang Ning, he’s waiting for you!”

Roar! Roar! Roar!

Awoo! Awoo! Awoo!

Consecutive animalistic cries of agony came from behind them. They paused, then turned, seeing and hearing the familiar figure they knew all too well.

“I heard someone talking about my handsome looks when I wasn’t here.” Xiang Ning's nonchalant voice came, ten knives following soon after. He killed all the beasts surrounding himself; they were all instant kills, every move fatal.

Seeing the arrival of such an arrogant human, the Blizzard Foxes rushed over to bite him first, but Xiang Ning effortlessly killed them all as if they were just regular beasts.

“Hey, although you’re strong, what you’re saying is that you’re asking for a beating.”

“Hey, why’d you hit me?”

“Open your eyes, look carefully! You only survived that day six months ago because of him!”

“Xiang Ning? My savior!” He wanted to run over and hug Xiang Ning’s legs. He had been rescued once, now twice; was this what they called ‘fate’?

But it would never be his turn. The shadow of a delicate figure rushed forward, scaring Xiang Ning into tossing one of his orbiting knives aside. The figure leaped into his arms and he lifted her, spinning around twice as they laughed happily.

Yes, it’s a touching moment, but could you please pay attention to the beasts behind you? They’re going to eat you both up!

But when the knives sliced up the beasts behind them, the rest swallowed their words.

The foxes that had stopped the fighters from retreating were treated like jokes as every fox who attempted to attack was promptly killed. The ten tier six flying knives were simply superior to tier four and five beasts. Especially when they were controlled by Xiang Ning's Telekinesis at Peak Mastery, which was a level that was five times higher than cultivators of the same tier.

Although Xiang Ning was currently a tier four, eight-star spiritual cultivator, the power he displayed was equal to a tier five, six-star spiritual cultivator.

Don't worry about the beasts just keep hugging her
