Chapter 332 The Child Who Had Nothing

“Xiang Ning was a child who had nothing, but eventually received something many people had since they were born: a family. It was so difficult for him to gain friends, which are also something many people had since they were young. And how long has he had these friends?”

“A person like that would feel appreciative of friendship and family more than anyone else. He yearns for them, wanting to experience them more than anyone else. Is he satisfied with life? Definitely not. He hasn’t truly felt how good life can treat him.”

If someone asked Xiang Ning if his life was as sad as they described, he would say no, because he was already used to it.

Xiang Xiaoyu watched the person on the screen, sobbing. She demanded answers to her questions, directing them at God and other people. Why must it be Xiang Ning? Why is he doing this? He wasn’t going to get anything out of this! Now that he was slowly getting a good life, why must he throw it away?

Everyone could see that the people trapped in the army of beasts were fighting for their lives. If that were me, would I do it? many people asked themselves.

They said Xiang Ning was silly, so silly it was pitiful, so silly it was cute. So silly their hearts ached.

“Mountain-Splitting Slash!” Xiang Ning unleashed his Peak Mastery Mountain-Splitting Slash once more. Although it was powerful, the technique itself was low-tier and he was using it at its maximum. Charging Toss could be amplified a little, but not even it was strong enough.

Now, he was relying on his own capabilities and Keen Observation. When he caught a huge weakness and attacked it, he used his martial techniques and Mental Power to inflict more damage.

This was Xiang Ning’s most difficult fight since he became a martial artist, even more difficult than that Octoviolet Silversnake.

At this point, he had made slashes at every weakness on its body, earning much praise from the audience.

“Powerful, he’s powerful!”

“Look at the damage he inflicted. None of his moves were unnecessary, every slash hit a critical point to inflict effective damage!”

“Terrifying indeed! If he truly matures, how powerful will he become?”

“Just based on his timing and ability to detect weaknesses, no peer of his can beat him!”

“Sigh, what a pity.”

Countless people sighed. Yeah, what would he be like if he grew up? They were personally witnessing the fall of a star; it was sad.

No one chose to leave or stop watching him. They all stood or sat before their screens, looking straight ahead as they prayed for a miracle. Some people called him a hero from a fairytale and wondered when the fairytale would happen to him.

......

In the last ten seconds, if Xiang Ning didn’t activate Refresh, he would either die of a heart attack or become a vegetable.

“DIE!” He slashed his sword downward on the injured Simian Sage, bringing down with him the hopes of his people. He made a diagonal slash at the smiling Simian Sage’s neck. Everyone clenched their fists, their eyes glued to their screens.

But it wasn’t like the stories; the Simian Sage didn’t die. That was when they understood how powerful this beast was—it was a whole league away from the rest.

The Devourer had cut into its throat, but it was still smiling. Just like the audience, it knew that Xiang Ning couldn’t hold on any longer!

The final victor was… the Simian Sage?

When Xiang Ning wanted to activate Refresh, to his delight, Keen Observation found one weakness. A fatal flaw. It was the first flaw of its magnitude since the beginning of their battle. He could feel that it was the fatal point! But he had less than ten seconds left. He felt like he could use the Refresh, then kill the Simian Sage, but this would be his only chance to end it now. The gorilla only revealed this weakness one time since the beginning, and he was terrified of missing it.

Making up his mind, he gritted his teeth and let go of the Devourer, a Hunter Mk.4 flying knife appearing in his hand. To be honest, he didn’t know if the blade could pierce the beast’s hide, but his intuition said yes.

To the confusion and shock of the audience, Xiang Ning voluntarily leapt into the arms of the Simian Sage. The crowd covered their eyes.

With a loud squelch of blade stabbing into flesh, blood poured out, thicker and redder than all the blood that had previously been shed. The Simian Sage let out a primordial scream and all of the madly attacking beasts stopped in their tracks, turning to stare at the Simian Sage.

Jaws dropped across the audience.

“What… what just happened?”

“Where’s Teacher Xiang Ning? Is he alright?”

“Is the Simian Sage dead?”

“Lookouts, report!”

“Spill it!”

“Sir, our equipment’s telling us the Simian Sage shows no sign of life!”

When the report was made, the beasts that were in the middle of a vicious invasion suddenly ran toward the forest like floodwater. On the other side, the grand procession of reinforcements arrived. The elderly general used his cultivation to suppress his wounds, ignoring his pain to scream, “Inform the reinforcements, along with our men, to bring our hero back! KILL!”

“KILL!”

“KILL! KILL!”

“KILL! KILL! KILL!”

Every shout was louder than the previous.

Everyone knew that Xiang Ning was likely to die. Even the injured members who had previously been rescued forced themselves to stand up, wanting to rush forward with the army to save him. And when they rushed to his side, they saw a layer of gray goo on the Simian Sage, still pulsing. Those familiar with it knew that it was Xiang Ning’s bioweapon.

Joy spread through the audience because the bioweapon was still alive, meaning that Xiang Ning was also alive!

Everyone who tried couldn’t pry the gray goo off the carcass. It was at tier six; unless there was a tier seven master present, they wouldn’t be able to get it out.

“General, I think we should just carry the whole thing back,” someone suggested. Leaving it on the battlefield wasn’t a good solution.

“Let me do it.” Fang Rou emerged from the crowd. Before she walked out, she had wiped her tears dry. When she touched the gray goo, it mysteriously let go of the carcass. The audience drew a sharp breath; this was a historical moment.

They saw Xiang Ning there, knife in hand, blade stuck in the beast’s heart. His posture remained firm, but he was unconscious.
