Chapter 303 A Real... Alien

When the vice city lord walked over, Xiang Ning was the first to look up at his back, his brows slightly knitted. The moment the man passed him, Xiang Ning’s answer was no because there was only a subtle waft of that unnerving feeling. The vice city lord isn’t him, they’ve only come into contact before.

The flirtatious employee next to him twittered, “You follow me, I’m putting you at the vice city lord’s office area. Clean well, stay focused, and maybe we can get you a bonus! If you catch his eye, you’re going to be rich.”

Xiang Ning was in no mood to listen to her nonsense. A bonus was a possibility, but to catch his eye? The girl was obviously delusional; she wasn’t going to get rich from that. However, he might find out something at his office.

The vice city lord’s office wasn’t large, but it wasn’t small, either. He was sitting at his desk dealing with some documents. The girl seemed to be some sort of secretary, and after she said something to him, the vice city lord nodded slightly. He didn’t even look up at Xiang Ning.

It seemed to be a very ordinary affair to everyone. Xiang Ning, on the other hand, took his cleaning job very seriously. No speck of dust escaped his wrath, firstly because he was looking hard for clues, and secondly because it was a trait he had developed from being in charge of chores since young. He was a different person when he was cleaning.

Twenty minutes later, he walked out of the office. Other than a mop and the cleaning equipment in the pail, there was now a hundred and twenty dollars in it.

The employee beamed proudly. “Hey kid, the vice city lord was very satisfied with your work ethic. You’re the only person I’ve seen who takes cleaning so seriously, he even wants you to clean his office once a week from now on.”

Xiang Ning was speechless.

“Alright, I’ll come next week.” He smiled brightly. A hundred and twenty dollars for twenty minutes of cleaning? Xiang Ning suddenly felt how disassociated Hang City’s upper class was. He used to barely spend four digits in a whole month.

Xiang Ning walked to the elevator, but after some thought, didn’t take it. He turned to the fire escape staircase next to it in deep thought as he painstakingly thought back to see if he had left out anything during cleaning. He didn’t believe that he couldn’t find anything.

His Combat Instinct would never lie to him; he must have missed something. There was definitely something off with the vice city lord. Xiang Ning was feeling frustrated when he looked at his watch and perked up. His watch was a gift from Dong Qianyi. And would a member of the Twelve Great Prodigies give him an ordinary watch?

Previously, Xiang Ning had bugged the disguised memory chip so that as long as it was within range, he could pinpoint its exact location. The receiver was his watch. Looking at the location displayed on the face of it, he smirked because he was standing right in the same spot. Xiang Ning looked up, then down, and ultimately decided to take the stairs down.

His gut told him that he would find what he was looking for downstairs.

Xiang Ning moved quickly and arrived at Basement 1. He entered the washroom and put away the cleaning equipment, then after some thought, took out twenty bucks and stuffed it into a sleeping janitor’s pocket at the counter. Hmm… the equipment was a rental, after all.

The chip wasn’t exactly difficult to find. Xiang Ning checked all twenty-one rooms marked No Entry and finally found it. Although he wasn’t sure, it was the only room that had a staircase leading down to a steel tunnel that was large enough to fit one person walking upright normally. It was fitted with all kinds of pipes for water and gas, but the lighting was terrible and he felt suffocated.

Stepping on a wire mesh, he slowly advanced toward the flashing indicator on his watch. To be honest, he was both excited and scared. Scared, because his Combat Instinct hadn’t stopped screaming, and excited, because of his curiosity. He admitted he was a curious person who took an interest in anything unknown.

Five minutes later, he had threaded through the complicated underground labyrinth and arrived at a spot that took his breath away. He couldn’t believe such an underground base existed under the building, it looked like the Chaos in Marsh City.

Not a single person was to be found, only machines. There was a platform at the center with a warplane on it, one that Xiang Ning had never seen before. Based on its silhouette and design concept, it was built for space travel. However, he couldn’t tell if it was a product made by the Earth Federation. To confirm, he would have to listen to the engine.

He looked at the dot on his watch and noticed that the dot, which hadn’t moved for the past hour, was suddenly moving. He didn’t know if his presence had alerted the other party or if it was only a coincidence, so he slid into the space between the densely arranged pipes and observed through the gaps.

As the dot came closer, Xiang Ning’s heart raced. Two minutes later, when he finally saw it, he froze. He could not believe it. He couldn’t! He was looking at a humanoid alien!

Not just one, either. They were shaped like humans, with very similar physical characteristics, but their features and heights weren’t human. He had never seen aliens like them before. He guessed they must be at least three meters tall with what looked like fleshy horns growing from their heads. Their skin color wasn’t something seen on earth, either.

What shocked him the most was that these were the same aliens he had seen during his previous stint in Exploration Mode. He was suddenly confused between the virtual world and reality.

There was an officer from the Federation leading the aliens, and Xiang Ning saw the memory chip in his hand. What were they doing?

The two aliens entered the mini spacecraft. The moment the engine sounded, Xiang Ning knew that the Earth Federation could never have manufactured this at its current stage!

After they boarded the spacecraft, a large door opened into a tunnel, and the spacecraft entered it. Xiang Ning didn’t know where it was being sent to, but he had a feeling that it would be an exciting day at Hang City!

Ah ha! Aliens exist! Looks like we will have an intergalactic war arc next time!
