The light from the artificial moon above s.h.i.+nned down and lit up the path ahead of her.

Looking around confused, Sofie remembered Yue Wan picking her up and carrying her up the mountain with Yang Meng running after them from behind.

"W-why are we… running…?" Sofie asked confusedly in a drowsy voice. Not having fully woken up from her earlier nap yet.

Yue Wan looked down at Sofie upon hearing her confused and sleepy voice.

Glancing at Yang Meng exhaustedly running besides her, Yue Wan cautiously looked behind them. Trying to see if there was anyone or anything following behind them.

"Let's take a quick break!" Yue Wan said in a low tone, almost sounding like a whisper.

"Hah… O-okay, b-but… Hah… W-we need to move out again soon…!" Yang Meng said as he exhaustedly laid down on the rough ground below him, trying to catch his breath.

"W-what is happening?" Sofie said in an even more confused voice, as she still had no clue why both Yue Wan and Yang Meng had started to run so franticly towards the top of the mountain earlier… She was too exhausted back then and could only think about sleeping…

Now that she was awake, Sofie wanted to find out what happened. The only thing she could think about were those rank 2 demon beasts… But they would not go after them directly and they were quite far away from them as well…

"We need to get away from the moonlight mountain as quickly as possible!" Yue Wan said with a determined look. Not showing any of her normal carefree expression.

"…But… Saving Sofie from strong demon beast… I will… definitely…!" Muttering something to herself while sending a fiery look towards Sofie. Yue Wan looked like she suddenly started struggling over something, so Sofie gave up waiting for her to answer and turned towards Yang Meng for help.

"The two… hah… rank 2 demon beasts will be able to leave… hah… the moonlight mountain as well, if they reach the top." Yang Meng said, while breathing roughly, still exhausted from the earlier running.

"B-but why is that a problem? Is it not a good thing if the rank 2 demon beasts leave the moonlight mountain…?" Sofie asked in a confused over what part about the strong demon beasts leaving was a bad thing to them.

"The moonlight mountain only allows for people to exit a short time after the first one exits… Hah… therefore, we will be stuck here if one of the two demon beasts exited before us… hah…" Yang Meng said as he was slowly stabilising his breathing. Laying down on the rock filled, hard and uncomfortable ground seemed to work.

Maybe he cultivated earth qi or something related to earth, rocks or… mountains? Is there something called mountain qi?

Wondering over where her questions led her, Sofie could not really imagine something like mountain qi. The only image she could come up with, was qi looking the same as normal qi, just the size of a mountain… How such an enormous amount of qi would be absorbed by cultivators, Sofie had no clue about… Leaving her to believe that Yang Meng most likely cultivated something like earth qi.

The reason Sofie came to that conclusion, was because when she saw the miniature sun in the sky, Sofie felt herself growing a little stronger. This Led to Sofie drawing the conclusion, that if a person who cultivates a type of qi is in the presence of that qi, he or she will grow stronger or Yang Meng's case. Recover faster.

Sofie looked curiously around, but could not see any qi other than a few specks of qi in different colours… Maybe she could just not sense them as she cultivated fire qi?

Sofie thought to herself as she refused to believe such a large mountain had so little earth qi, there was more water qi and wind qi around compared to earth qi…

"Wait!" Sofie suddenly jumped down from Yue Wan's arm, causing Yue Wan to look towards her longingly. Clearly not excited about Sofie leaving her hands.

"Y-you said we may end up stuck here!?" Sofie almost screamed in panic, while realizing what Yang Meng had said earlier.

"That took you a long time to figure out… Maybe your brain slows down, if you don't eat…?" Yang Meng said in a suspicious voice. Questioning how slow Sofie's reaction to what he said was.

"Wh"

"True… Sofie might be the type who can't do anything without having eaten…" Yue Wan said interrupting Sofie, who was about to protest about what Yang Meng said.

"M-my brain is not slow! I-I was just thinking about something else…!" Sofie said in an unconvincing manner. Earning a doubtful look from both Yue Wan and Yang Meng, causing her cheeks to blush in shame.

"Yes! Fatty! Don't bully Sofie just because she is slower to react when she is hungry!" Yue Wan said, trying to switch sides and support Sofie. Sadly, failing miserably in the process.

"S-stupid Yue Wan!" Sofie angrily as she looked at Yue Wan, who insulted the speed of her brain two times in a row… And started softly hitting her chest. Wanting some sort of revenge, but at the same time not wanting to hurt her or anything.

I-I'm not slow or anything…! R-right…? Argh! Stupid Yue Wan, calling me slow because I have not eaten anything for a while! I-I'm not slow…

Sofie thought angrily to herself as she started cursing Yue Wan inside her mind… Sadly, Sofie did not know many 'curse' words. Calling Yue Wan stupid was the best Sofie could come up with.

"C-cute~" Yue Wan said in adoration, while staring blissfully at Sofie throwing a tantrum lightly hitting her chest… Sofie's cursing and hitting seemed to have had the opposite effect on Yue Wan, instead of intimidating her like intended…

"I have recovered enough already. Let's move." Yang Meng said, hurrying the two of them to stop their quarrelling and get moving.

Sofie quieted down and looked at Yue Wan full of hostility, while the one in question just looked at Sofie with a wide smile. Clearly having enjoyed observing Sofie throwing a tantrum, even Sofie hitting her chest softly. Hesitating from time to time, was an enjoyable experience for Yue Wan.

"Yeah~ Let's go~ I will carry Sofie~!" Yue Wan said blissfully. Feeling like being stuck at the moonlight mountain forever didn't really sound like a bad idea anymore.

"NO! I Don't w "Before she manged to finished, Yue Wan appeared before her and picked her up in a princess carry.

Surprised, Sofie did not have time to say anything before she discovered that they were already running up the mountain road at high speed.

Not being able to do anything about her current circ.u.mstances and remembering what Yang Meng said earlier about being stuck at the moonlight mountain. Sofie decided to keep quiet and only sent a deadly glare towards Yue Wan. Trying to intimidate her from doing anything.

Yue Wan on the other hand felt Sofie's gaze and instead of being intimidated by her, she instead smiled brightly in return. Causing Sofie to frown and look away.

W-why is she not intimidated!? Big sister always said that whenever she looked at people like that, it would be intimidating them from doing anything!? W-why does it not work?

Sofie thought confusedly to herself. Not taking her appearance into account… No matter what kind of 'evil and threatening' look she tried to make, it would just end up making her look like she was pouting or throwing a tantrum… It would be hard work for her to intimidate anyone with her size… Maybe when she grew up…?
