“And what’s wrong with that? All right, the magic arrays are complete. Now, all that is left is to wait for the fish to take the bait. Hopefully, it’s a big fish. Of course, if it turns out to be a fish monster, we’ll just have to run.”

“If that’s the plan, why not set up a teleportation array in advance as well?” Tower suggested.

“Good suggestion.”

Next up, Chen Feng spent some more effort to set up a teleportation array. This teleportation array was not particularly large. It could only teleport him through a distance of half a million kilometres. However, that was enough for escaping purposes.

As predicted, it is a Devourer Beast. However, its genes are not pure. It is not from the main imperial clan. It must be a branch clan. Although this Devourer Beast is very powerful, its genes are actually inferior when compared to the first Devourer Beast that we encountered.

 As Chen Feng had cultivated the Demonic Heavengorging Art, he had become sensitive towards creatures from the Demon Plane. 

“A Demon Deity at the Ascendant Immortal stage. This fellow will not be easy to deal with,” Tower said.

“Thankfully, it is just a Demon Deity. If it is a Demon Overlord, we’ll have to just run. As it is, there is a chance that we could defeat it.” Chen Feng kept forming hand seals to mobilize the magic arrays to attack the demonic beast.

“A minor human. Not to mention, you are only a Human Immortal. You dare entrap me? You don’t know the meaning of death!” The Devourer Beast’s body began growing and the magic arrays around it began bursting apart. 

However, thanks to Chen Feng’s actions of overseeing the magic arrays, they were able to swiftly recover to become even stronger.

The Devourer Beast’s body grew to the size of a mountain and even more of the magic arrays were destroyed.

Truth be told, Chen Feng’s objective in setting up the magic arrays was to exhaust the Demon Deity’s strength. Given his present level of strength, this was all he could do. Setting up magic arrays capable of killing off a Demon Deity was beyond his present capabilities. Naturally, it would be different if he were to advance to the Earthen Immortal stage. At that level, Chen Feng would be able to comprehend grand dao powers and the magic arrays he set up would be strong enough to kill those on a higher level.

The atmosphere of power that the Devourer Beast was emanating grew ever stronger and more power surged out from its body. Due to that, a major portion of the magic arrays that Chen Feng set up were all destroyed.

However, Chen Feng did not feel too concerned. On the contrary, he calmly fired out one seal after another as spirit stones flew forward. Under Chen Feng’s guidance, all of them flew in a certain pattern to replenish the power of the magic arrays.

A pity, I am lacking somewhat in materials. If it weren’t for that, I can borrow the Longevity Tower’s power to set up some killing arrays as well

. Chen Feng secretly sighed.

“You want to entrap me with such a small magic array? Break!”

A massive fist charged skywards to break a large hole through the magic arrays that Chen Feng had set up. However, power surged out from the surrounding magic arrays to promptly close up the hole. 

“Watch as I break this planet!”

A formidable force smashed against the planet as the Devourer Beast attempted to destroy the planet with one punch.

“I’ve long since taken precautions against this move!” Chen Feng scoffed. Streams of power flowed down from his feet to link up with the ground. Next, runes and more magic arrays spread out to envelop the whole planet.

The force behind the Devourer Beast’s attack was transmitted by the magic arrays into the void.

The Devourer Beast continued, firing out over 100 punches quickly. By Chen Feng’s estimate, the cost of maintaining the magic arrays had gone beyond 10 million Immortal crystals. Thinking about that ached his heart.

I’ll be able to make it up by refining this Demon Deity.

 Chen Feng comforted himself.

Finally, the Devourer Beast stopped. It seemed as though it had become tired. However, Chen Feng was aware that the Devourer Beast was simply planning on using a different type of attack. At any rate, this Devourer Beast had absorbed the power of the entire planet. Even punching the planet continuously for 100 days would not tire it, let alone 100 punches.

As expected, after the Devourer Beast stopped punching, two black holes appeared upon its talon-like palms to furiously absorb the power of the magic arrays.

It had utilized the Demonic Heavengorging Art.

A pity! The Demonic Heavengorging Art that this Devourer Beast cultivates is terribly incomplete. It is likely even worse compared to the one that I am cultivating

. Chen Feng shook his head.

“Since you want to devour, I will let you have your fill!” Chen Feng did not feel worried about it. Instead, he continued to channel more energy forward into the magic arrays.

After devouring the power of the magic arrays for a moment, the Devourer Beast suddenly stopped as it began refining the devoured energy.

It was then that Chen Feng began his attacks. Bringing out the Heaven Piercing Lance, he brandished it non-stop and the power of the Immortal artefact – augmented by the magic arrays – rose, nearly doubling, in fact. The Heaven Piercing Lance was an offensive-type magic treasure. With the increase in its power, it became a true threat towards the Devourer Beast.

The series of attacks from Chen Feng left several wounds on the Devourer Beast’s body.

As the Devourer Beast had devoured too much energy earlier, it now had a difficult time devouring the power of the Immortal artefact.

“A low-grade Immortal artefact. Come to me!” The Devourer Beast abruptly grasped and power gushed out from its body. The magic arrays in its path were all destroyed as a massive hand made its way through the many layers of magic arrays, grasping at Chen Feng.

“Bring it!”

The massive hand stirred and Chen Feng felt the world turning upside down. Space itself fell into a turbulent state. Chen Feng knew then that this was the power of an Ascendant Immortal It was the suppressive effect that a higher-levelled cultivator was imposing upon his soul.

Boom!

Chen Feng linked up to the Celestial Longevity Plane. At the same time, he also activated the Heavengulping Absorption Technique and Demonic Heavengorging Art.

Sou! Sou! Sou!

The Heaven Piercing Lance stabbed with lightning-like speed. It failed to stop the force behind the massive hand, but Chen Feng managed to devour some of the power behind the hand.

Naturally, Chen Feng did not proceed to refine the devoured power. It was not the right time for that. He instead kept it inside the Longevity Tower. He would either refine it when he had the time or simply have the Longevity Tower devour it.

“Demonic Heavengorging Art! The aura of the Demonic Heavengorging Art that lured me out earlier! You’re cultivating the Demonic Heavengorging Art as well? Impossible! You are a human,” the Devourer Beast shouted as it attempted to pull the massive hand back.

“Nothing is impossible.”

The Longevity Tower flew out from Chen Feng’s body to fire out a stream of light, which formed a talisman with the ‘subdue’ character on it. Although it did not paste itself on the Devourer Beast’s massive hand, it had still caused its movements to slow down. 

Meanwhile, Chen Feng continued to utilize the Heaven Piercing Lance to gorge out a bloody hole through the hand. As a result, a large quantity of blood essence sprayed out.

Roaring, the Devourer Beast pulled its hand back. By then, however, its entire palm had withered. In fact, the withering effect had spread to its arm as well and all the blood essence there was sucked away.

To Chen Feng’s surprise, the Devourer Beast suddenly calmed down. Blood surged and its withered palm recovered, throbbing with vitality. It seemed as though nothing had happened to it.

The Devourer Beast’s body began shrinking, finally reaching a height of only two metres. The hairs covering its body were all retracted to reveal rock-hard abs and muscles. Even the talon-like hands transformed and facial features appeared on its face. It did not take long for the Devourer Beast to assume the form of a human.

The great change and the calmness that the Devourer Beast displayed gave Chen Feng a feeling of danger.

“Human. I believe we can negotiate this through.” After calming down, the Devourer Beast spoke up.

“Oh? What is there to negotiate? The reason I am here is to kill you and devour all your blood essence.” A smile appeared on Chen Feng’s face. At the same time, both his hands kept moving to repair the magic arrays that were destroyed earlier.

The Devourer Beast did not stop Chen Feng. Seeing that, Chen Feng grew even more wary. 

“It’s simple. Hand over the Demonic Heavengorging Art on you and I will not kill you.”

“Kill me? Under such circumstances, how will you kill me? Like I said, the reason I am here is to kill you.” Chen Feng waved his hand and over 10,000 Immortal crystals flew out to disappear into the magic arrays, replenishing their power.

Even with the help of magic arrays and magic treasures, the level difference between the two of us is too big. Most importantly, I did not display my full power earlier.” The Devourer Beast spoke in such a respectful manner, he looked like a businessman.

“Looks like you are confident in yourself. I am fully capable of breaking these parlour tricks of yours. I just didn’t want to waste that much strength. One final time. Hand over the Demonic Heavengorging Art or die.”

“Just attack,” Chen Feng responded coolly and both his feet pressed down, causing the entire planet to shake as layer after layer of magic arrays stirred to attack the Devourer Beast.

“If that’s the case, I will let you witness my power.” The Devourer Beast grasped and the magic arrays before him burst apart. Next, he opened his mouth and inhaled to suck in all the power from the broken magic arrays.

Shua!

He performed yet another grasping move and the magic arrays burst apart again. As before, he devoured the resulting power from the broken magic arrays.

Roar!

Boom!

A fist blast flew out, breaking through the magic arrays. Wisps of demonic flames burned and the magic arrays that Chen Feng set up began melting.

“Demonic Heavenburn Flames!”

More demonic flames surged out from the Devourer Beast’s body. In the face of the black flames, even hard rocks, spiritual energy in the air and tangible divine sense would be incinerated.

Chen Feng, on the other hand, calmly waved his hand and two icy cold beads flew out. One spun on Chen Feng’s palm and emanated waves of ice energy to blanket the demonic flames. As for the other icy bead, it rapidly flew forward to suppress the Devourer Beast. Everywhere it went, ice energy permeated the air and even space began freezing.
