93 Nothing Less Than Perfec

Milten Struther came from a long family line of administrative clerks. In Milten's family the idea of being anything other than an administrator would result in ostracizing and being disowned from the family. Milten was certain of the intent of his leaders following the news of the Nefarious Four being defeated. Milten was the one who proposed paying for the damages and compensating the families who were affected during the attack. By being the ones to compensate the families of the pa.s.sengers who were injured or killed Venicular Planet had essentially written it in stone that it was their planet which was responsible for the defeat of the pirate group.

As part of his administrative duties and in order to doc.u.ment the procedure to help reinforce their claim, Milten had the pa.s.sengers and the crew aboard the garbage can s.h.i.+p interviewed. Dozens of Milten's administrative team descended on the s.h.i.+p and like a well-oiled machine they proceeded to ascertain the situation, each member doc.u.menting what each pa.s.senger personally experienced during the ordeal.

Following the process and as Milten's team was leaving they even paid the reward and the cost of all the s.h.i.+ps that formally belonged to the pirates. The question of keeping the pirate s.h.i.+ps wasn't even an option for Cap who was originally excited about the prospect of trading in her garbage can for the significantly more advanced X-4 Carrier or as everyone else calls them Winged Tiger.

They were called Winged Tiger as it was an homage to the old adage of "like putting wings on a tiger". Of all of the X series s.p.a.ces.h.i.+ps that moved around the outer edge of the Eastern Universe none were as fast as the X-4 which was strictly speaking built for speed. For a period of time there were two nicknames that people would use to reference the X-4, the Winged Tiger and Lightning Flash. It just so happened that a very popular genius of the outer edge of the Eastern Universe was fond of calling the X-4 the Winged Tiger and eventually it became the sole nickname that was used to describe it.

Cap who was attacked by four Winged Tiger's was beside herself the first few days that the people from the Venicular Planet showed up. She was perfectly prepared to inform them that she had no interest in collecting the reward on one of them as she wanted to keep it as her new s.h.i.+p. She had even come up with the name she was going to give her X-4, the Winged Tigress. When she found out that the Venicular Planet had no intentions of letting her keep one of the s.h.i.+ps and she had no choice but to give it to the people from Venicular Planet she was going to raise a ruckus. It was Vance who ultimately calmed her down by reminding her that even if she could get one of the X-4's she couldn't take it as they had their reasons for using this garbage can and having the X-4 would draw too much attention.

"Hmmpp, take those s.h.i.+ps that no one wants anyways!" Finally Cap who was unconvinced fired off at Milten, her soft voice had a little bit of anger and a little bit of resentment as she spoke.

Milten who heard Cap's words finally breathed a sigh of relief. He absolutely couldn't allow any of the spoils to be let go, otherwise how could they explain that Venicular Planet was responsible for the subjugation of the Nefarious Four. This was a win win scenario as Vance's group collected the reward and a small amount for the X-4's and the Venicular Planet could claim all the glory.

Milten who was a genius of administrative work created all of the doc.u.ments and proof of the owners.h.i.+p of the X-4's by the Venicular Planet, he managed to pay roughly 2% of the s.h.i.+ps value to Cap and Vance and only paid out the reward for the Nefarious Four and none of the pirate crew. All in all, Vance and Cap were completely cheated as Milten smiled and spoke about how Venicular Planet got rung through the ringer and had to pay such a sky-high price.

After heading back to Venicular Planet Milten was perusing through all of the doc.u.mented accounts in order to hand the story over to the young master who would be taking credit for the subjugation. It was Milten's responsibility to ensure that the story checked out and if someone were to check on the details they would match up with the bodies and the evidence presented. The events would be the exact same as what actually happened and the only difference would be the name of the persons who led and defeated the Nefarious Four.

As Milten was reading through the accounts from the pa.s.sengers a trend was developing that initially Milten simply dismissed. However, after reading for several hours' disbelief was changed to wonder and wonder to stupefied.

Based on the accounts of the pa.s.sengers a young boy had managed to move through several floors of the s.h.i.+p as he saved the lives of a number of pa.s.sengers. He was lightening fast as he moved through the pirate mob as though they didn't exist. Based on what Milten was able to ascertain it appeared that this young boy had saved roughly fifty to sixty of the pa.s.sengers as he marched through and single handedly stopped the pirate's death march.

What ultimately caused Milten to stop his actions and inform his superiors was the eye witnessed account of a young boy. The young boy recalled how the big silver haired man swooped in protecting him and in the process got injured as he was stabbed in his side. The silver haired man made the small boy run away but the young boy decided to watch and make sure the person who saved him was safe. The silver haired man fought the Nefarious Four and held them at bay for several minutes one against four. After a couple of minutes, the Nefarious Four had pushed the big silver haired man into a corner, his injuries from protecting the boy were too bad, he couldn't maintain and was going to lose.

The five to six-year-old boy recounted how a young boy of ten to sixteen had come up, looked the five-year-old in the eye, smiled and then held his finger up to his mouth and made a "shhhhh" motion with his lips. The young boy of five nodded his head in understanding and then described how the ten to sixteen-year-old defeated the Nefarious Four by himself.

As Milten read the account of how the young boy of ten to sixteen was able to defeat this unrivaled vile and horrid group of four he scoffed in ridicule. He laughed at the stupidity of the situation and questioned every facet of it. The young boy even recounted the scene of the ten to sixteen-year-old boy asking if that threat really worked, the concept of a small boy facing off against the Nefarious Four and questioning their antics was too much.

Milten who read the entire account couldn't shake the feeling of doubt so he went to examine the bodies of the four "greatest jokes in the universe" pirates. Milten had this thought because if there was any validity to the statement of the young five-year-old boy these pirates would be the biggest laughing stock in the history of outer edge of the Eastern Universe.

After checking over the bodies of the four pirates Milten had no words. How could a five-year-old describe how each of the Nefarious Four died unless he was present at the time. He described exactly the wounds and killing blows of each of the Nefarious Four pirates. After ascertaining to this point Milten had no choice but to let his leaders.h.i.+p know.

Now that the people from the Venicular Planet were gone and the garbage can was again moving, Aker was excited to be free from the confines of his room and roaming about the s.h.i.+p.

He had spent four days confined to his room which he found difficult to bear as he wanted to go to the forge, the kitchen and especially head over to the s.h.i.+p's engine. From the time that Cap and Vance put in the call to Venicular Planet until the time they showed up was two days.

During that two-day period Aker was like a fish in water as he moved about the X-4 s.h.i.+ps and studied the magic engines, the magic components and all of the intricate magic engineering.

Aker who had read plenty of theoretical books on the application of magic engineering and magic design was getting an unfettered firsthand look into the inner workings of an advance piece of magic design wonder.

As the people from the Venicular Planet approached, Aker was forced back into his room and so with nothing to do he practiced his dizi non-stop for four days. However, when he wasn't practicing his dizi and playing tunes he was busy with a sketch piece of paper as he etched out drawing after drawing trying to capture his designs.

Particularly Aker was interested in how the X-4 burned the magic crystals to generate thrust and force to propel the s.h.i.+p. As far as Aker could tell it wasn't as simple as just burning the crystal itself as there seemed to be another box that he couldn't open attached to the magic drive. The magic drive was responsible for burning the magic crystal and converting it to magic energy.

Based on what Aker could see, just the magic drive itself was not capable of producing speeds much faster than what the converter in the garbage can could. Of course, magic crystals were compressed nature particles that formed naturally which was the major discrepancy in speed between the garbage can and the other X series s.h.i.+ps. Due to the design of the magic converter it was not capable of breaking down and burning magic crystals, it could only convert nature particles.

Magic crystals were mined from areas that were extreme in the nature elements such as planets with significant volcano activity or planets of water or ice. It was the fact that magic crystals only formed under such extreme conditions that made them so expensive, in order to mine magic crystals people or machines had to endure the extreme nature.

The garbage can tried to overcome this deficiency in the cost of the magic crystals with the magic converter that attempted to convert nature particles in s.p.a.ce directly to magic energy, however, the issue is the density of the nature particles in s.p.a.ce. As there is not enough density it prevents the garbage can from being able to generate enough force to move. Aker's idea of creating a circular system using two converters helped to double and perhaps even triple the speed, but three times slow is still slow.

As Aker thought through the X-4 magic drive an idea suddenly struck him. What if it wasn't just burning the magic crystal but that unknown box was actually used to affect a natural law? As Aker was certain that the magic drive and magic crystal alone was not enough to propel the X-4 at the speeds he understood it was capable of moving at, that meant that there had to be another factor. The only other factor that was present was that sealed box in the magic drive.

As Aker had been in his room drawing up plans while locked away, he decided to stop focusing on the unknown box that he wouldn't get an answer from and instead focus on how the magic drive burned the dense energy from the magic crystal. After examining it he had a couple of ideas on how he could increase the efficiency of the magic drive wherein it was more cleanly burning the condensed nature particles. As Aker watched the magic drive work, he could see the magic crystal dissipate or burn and as far as he could tell the magic drive was losing roughly thirty percent of all of the nature particles.

Aker had an extremely ingenuitive idea of encapsulating the magic drive with an outer layer that would capture the thirty percent of nature particles that were being lost and pump them back in as fuel. The minor problem with encapsulating the magic drive would be the side affect of trapping heat, however, he could pump in air from one side to help cool the magic drive and at the same time the air would also help with moving the nature particles in the direction he wanted.

He also came up with a few different ideas on how he could try and improve the magic converter in the garbage can. Aker was stunned at the brilliance of the magic converter; its only problem and its major crutch was density. If he could find a way to draw nature particles in to this garbage can magic converter thus increasing its density he could further increase its speed remarkably.

After reviewing the engine room in the garbage can Aker took one of his drawings and put it out so he could take it all in. Aker felt as though his idea was good but his drawing was not good enough to create what he needed. Any mechanical part that would work on a s.p.a.ces.h.i.+p that was being used on magic drives or magic converters would need to be precise with no room for errors. Aker felt that he would be able to make his idea work but he didn't believe based on his drawing that he could create the item he had in mind well enough.

"If I'm actually going to build this my only choice is to learn how to draw well enough to make the design come alive, the dimensions and components all need to be reflected perfectly. It can be nothing less than perfect, anything less than perfect would result in failure." Aker had made up his mind that he would need to spend time learning how to draw and paint in order to properly create his magic engineering diagrams.
