AfterthatIsatandlistenedtomyheadachingwhileHarvefinishedgettingtheday'sworkorganised.Azizcameintotheofficewithhis...o...b..erationofvitalityandaskediftherewereanypersonalerrandshecouldrunforme.Iconsidereditthoughtfulofhim,particularlyashismannerwascasualand,asfarasIcouldsee,notself-serving.

Thecomputerman,perhapstwenty,withlonglightbrownhairthroughwhichheranhisfingersinartisticaffectationeveryfewseconds,hadgivenuptryingtoresuscitateourhardwarebythetimeIgotbacktotheoffice.

'Whatvirus?'Iasked,comingtoahaltbyIsobel'sdeskandfeelingoverlybeleaguered.Wehadflu,wehadaliens,wehadbodies,wehadvandals,wehadconcussion.Avirusinthecomputercouldtakethecameltoitsknees.

'Allourrecords,'Isobelmourned.
