Basically, it allowed the students to get used to killing magical beasts. The convention was being held on the outskirts of Stanlos Base Camp, and everything was planned around the safety of the partic.i.p.ants. Even so, some deaths and injuries and deaths still occurred every year.

The high school that Elizabeth had been studying at in the slums, Gardenville High School, could not compare with other aristocratic schools in terms of teaching equipment, teacher qualifications, and so on. However, Elizabeth was very talented, so she still surpa.s.sed other students from those various high schools in all sorts of compet.i.tions.

This had made Elizabeth somewhat of a celebrity among Stanlos high school students. Hence, she had attracted quite a lot of attention when she appeared.

"It's Elizabeth! She's here!"

"She the one who got first place in the shooting compet.i.tion, and also first in actual combat, first in genetic theory, first in the original robot making compet.i.tion, first in intelligent programming... In fact, she gets first place in every compet.i.tion!"

"The hope of the slums!"

"Look, it's her! Even the geniuses of the three n.o.ble schools can't compare to her."

"Such a talented girl!"

"The man beside her is so handsome, and look at their intimate gestures. Could they be boyfriend and girlfriend?"

Steve heard the surrounding voices from the other students and was instantly surprised. He didn't usually pay much attention to Elizabeth's learning situation, as he needed to focused on earning money.

Elizabeth was also very sensible and did not want Steve to worry, so as long as she could solve any problems herself, she never bothered Steve about much. As such, Elizabeth rarely mentioned anything about school to him.

As this was the case, Steve had no idea that his sister was a genius in every aspect! However, even so, Steve was seeing that Elizabeth did not have a lot of friends, and also that the people around her looked at her as if they were looking at a monster, not greeting her at all.

All of her schoolmates stayed far away from her, and even the teachers did not seem to want to approach her.

But, as Steve observed the gazes of the crowd, which were filled with awe for Elizabeth, and even a little fear, he knew that they were treating her this way because she was so strong. Because Elizabeth's talent was so strong, it was like they were facing a monster.

To be specific, her learning ability was so powerful, it was monstrous! Even the teachers felt like they had nothing left to teach her! This resulted in Elizabeth having to teach herself all kinds of knowledge.

Steve had heard about these dynamics before, but had not expected that Elizabeth's gifts would also terrify her teachers. He had really only heard of situations like this in his previous life.

Back then, once a person had shown a talent beyond human imagination in some way, his peers around him would reject him entirely. So, alas, it did seem true that geniuses are often accompanied by loneliness.

Moreover, Elizabeth was like a G.o.ddess, bringing light wherever she went. This of course made the others hesitant to approach, as they dared not pollute her remarkable purity.

However, Steve saw a trace of loneliness in Elizabeth's eyes. This caused him to reach over and grab her hand to rea.s.sure her somehow.

"Your big brother's here," Steve said and smiled.

Elizabeth looked back at him with a smile.

"I knew you would come, Elizabeth." A sharp and provocative voice suddenly interrupted them. It had come from a woman, dressed in the latest trendy battle attire, who had just walked over.

The woman's big wavy hair and tight nano-leather clothes outlined her curvy figure. Because of her heavy makeup, she looked to be more mature than her actual age. She was a rare and exquisite beauty.

She had three laser swords that had never been activated on her waist. These laser swords were much more expensive and powerful than ordinary metal weapons. The equipment on her alone must have cost hundreds of thousands in original gold!

"That's Selma of Doade aristocratic high school. She will certainly appear wherever Elizabeth goes."

"Those two are archenemies. But, Elizabeth is better than Selma in every aspect."

"Archenemies? You're wrong. Elizabeth has never regarded Selma as her opponent. She's also not qualified to be her opponent, but Selma doesn't care, as she just wants to win over Elizabeth."

Many students looked on, while commenting, as if they were about to watch a show. As she could hear their words, Selma became even more annoyed.

As an aristocrat, she had all kinds of advantages. Plus, her own talent was also very strong. But, ever since she had met Elizabeth, Elizabeth had outshone her in every aspect!

"Elizabeth, I will score more than you in this Magical Beasts Hunting Convention," Selma said angrily.

"Okay. It doesn't matter to me," Elizabeth said uncaringly.

Selma was even angrier now, seeing that Elizabeth didn't take her too seriously.

"Haha, Selma! How many times have you said that? And yet you still lose to Elizabeth in the end, every time." A man laughed cheerfully from the crowd.

Then, a man in medieval armor, who looked handsome and sunny, strode up. He had a big sword on his shoulder. This was Raven.

"Raven, do you want to compete with me for first place, too?" Selma looked at Raven and asked.

"Hah, I'm not interested in first place." Raven went up to Elizabeth and gave her a standard chivalrous knight's bow and a charming smile. "I'm only interested in the beautiful and holy Elizabeth," he said.

Elizabeth remained indifferent to Raven's admiration for her. It was okay though, as Raven was used to it.

He then nodded his head toward Steve and asked, "May I know the relations.h.i.+p between this gentleman and Elizabeth?"

Only family members were brought to the Magical Beasts hunting conventions, so Raven had a.s.sumed that Steve was Elizabeth's family.

"I am..." Steve was about to introduce himself, but Elizabeth clasped Steve's arm and smiled sweetly, answering herself instead, "He's my fiancé. The rules of the game don't say that one cannot bring your fiancé with you, right?

The whole place was instantly quiet. Steve was stunned. He had never expected Elizabeth to come up with this clever lie!

"Elizabeth has a fiancé!"

"Big news! It turns out that Elizabeth is already taken!"

Many of the onlookers could not help but whisper and discuss this news among themselves. People saw the blissful smile on Elizabeth's face and were fascinated by her beauty. They had never seen Elizabeth smile, much less seem this happy! Obviously, Steve must really be Elizabeth's fiancé!

Upon hearing this news, Steve immediately saw that Raven's face paled, then quickly became bright red. His eyes were full of anger, and his aura had changed dramatically when he turned to face Steve.

"So, Your Excellency is Elizabeth's fiancé?" Raven showed a grim smile. "How come I've never heard of this engagement before?"

"Our parents had arranged this marriage since we were kids," Elizabeth said, while smiling sweetly.

But, Steve just sat back and listened in a daze...
