79 Love Rival

Right then, Daniel went up to the crystal and put his hands on it.

Buzz...

The crystal suddenly lit up and numerous elemental lights flashed inside it.

"It's such a bright light! It must've exceeded 100 points." Torbjorn sighed.

Everyone else also marveled at the scene, as Daniel's talent was really strong! At this point, the number on the a.n.a.lyzer kept rising, exceeding 50 points instantly, then soaring to 80 points, followed by 100 points! Finally, it stopped at 121.

These results were followed by cries of surprise.

"He actually got 121 points of talent value!"

"Stanlos Base Camp hasn't had anyone with more than 100 talent value points in decades!"

"It's very difficult to increase the talent value after hitting 100 points!"

Many apprentices, who were being a.s.sessed, were surprised. The n.o.ble apprentices' arrogance was written on their faces, as they looked at the civilian apprentices with disdain.

"Haha, that's the difference between us and you lowly people, even our genius has more talent than you!"

The civilian apprentices immediately retaliated. "Hmph! What's there to be proud of? Earl and Catherine from our side have not tested their talent values yet, so whose talent is more outstanding is still yet to be confirmed."

Daniel looked at Steve suddenly, then pointed at him, saying, "That boy."

Everyone looked to the back, their gazes landing on Steve and his group. Torbjorn immediately stepped to the side, distancing himself from Steve.

Steve looked puzzled and pointed to himself, asking, "Are you talking about me?"

Looking at Steve's silly appearance, everyone could not help but laugh.

"Yes, you! Have you seen my talent? I am the only one good enough for Catherine, and I will not allow garbage like you to have any thoughts of wooing her." Daniel pointed at Steve, arrogant and aggressive.

Steve was stunned, all the sudden reminded of another girl from his memory, when he looked at Catherine.

"Well, brother Linken, you told us that you were not interested in Catherine, so how do you explain it now?" Glendon demanded.

"Ha ha ha, if you like Catherine, go after her! Don't be scared, just because he is n.o.ble." Lance laughed.

The misunderstanding only continued to grow. The students on the side of the n.o.ble apprentices looked at Steve, disdainful expressions on their faces.

"Another fool wanting to pursue Catherine..."

"He dares to go after a girl that Daniel has his eyes on?! Looks like this boy is not afraid of death!"

Steve wanted to explain that things were not how they seemed, but did not know how. Then, Catherine looked up at him, her eyes indifferent, and said, "The only thing I like are serums. Please stop wasting your time."

No one was very surprised by her dismissive words, as everyone was used to Catherine's cold att.i.tude.

"Hum! What are you guys laughing at? Linken came in with a letter of recommendation! How many of you are a match for him?" Earl looked at the group of n.o.bles, sneering.

The n.o.bles, who had been laughing at Steve, became silent, as if their throats had been gripped and choked. The civilian apprentices knew how hard it was to get a letter of recommendation, so they knew that Steve had to have quite a lot of talent, at least much more than most of them!

"So, you have a letter of recommendation... No wonder you dared to hit on Catherine. But, you're still no match for me." Daniel sneered at him.

Daniel then walked down to the test station, as the others continued to detect their talent values. That scene was only a small episode, which luckily had no effect whatsoever on the subsequent a.s.sessment.

But now, the n.o.ble apprentices were all wondering where Steve had come from, as they had never heard of such a genius before. At the same time, they were all curious as to whether Steve would be Daniel's match.

Soon, it was Catherine's turn. Everyone was also curious about the value of Catherine's elemental talent.

"If she hadn't been seriously ill last year, she would have already have become a certified pharmacist by now. I heard that her F-grade success rate has already reached three percent."

"Catherine is definitely a genius. But, I don't know how she'll compare to Daniel."

With all eyes upon her, Catherine put her hand on the crystal.

Buzz…

The crystal shone brilliantly, even brighter than it had with Daniel. It shone in a variety of colors, but black and white were the most prominent. The score on the a.n.a.lytical instrument was also starting to soar.

"Wow, a score of 139!"

"Goodness!"

People could not help but exclaim in awe at this number, as Daniel had just set a high score of 121, but Catherine had overtaken him!

"She's got 139 points, after just one year! Catherine has improved!"

"That's amazing! It looks like no one will be able to exceed this figure this year."

This time, neither the n.o.bles nor the civilian apprentices provoked each other, because Catherine was not officially aligned with either camp. However, her talent exceeded Daniel's, which inevitably created quite a sensation.

When Daniel saw Catherine's talent value, his eyes shone with even more admiration for her. As the a.s.sessment went on, all of the other geniuses with letters of recommendation only got talent values of up to 85.

Soon, it was Steve's turn. As Earl began to examine his talent, his appearance caused quite a lot of controversy.

"Is that Earl? I've heard that he's only 16, but has already succeeded in raising the success rates of four types of F-grade serums to two percent!"

"Daniel is already 21! And, as he is only 16, there is still much room for further growth!"

Youth was the greatest capital, after all. Earl, for example, was not as good as Daniel and Catherine in some aspects, but he was still young, so by the time he reached their ages, he might be better than them all!

Buzz!

The crystal ball lit up again. It was as bright as Daniel's, but the elements in it were far more colorful. The scores on a.n.a.lytical instruments began to soar, finally landing on the number 120!

In that instant, cries of surprise and sighs of awe filled the room.

"Wow! Just a little bit more and he'll surpa.s.s Daniel!" one of the civilian apprentices said, full of regret.

"He got 120 points! He's so talented, it won't be long before he catches up with Daniel." The n.o.ble apprentices were all surprised.

Earl walked over to the resting area with a proud look on his face, looking at Daniel provocatively.

"Little child, even if you're talented, that is far from being enough." Daniel sneered at him, not caring about Earl.

As a n.o.ble, he had access to resources that were unattainable by others. So, Earl's talent truly was not enough. If Daniel could not get his hands on resources, Earl's talents would be useless. This was one of the reasons why n.o.ble pharmacists had always looked down on civilian pharmacists.

After Earl had finished, it was Steve's turn. At this moment, the eyes of the crowd could not help but turn to Steve, a guy with a letter of recommendation, who had dared to compete with Daniel for Catherine's heart!
