"Mr. Caromon Leston. Are your people also interested in partic.i.p.ating in the pharmacist compet.i.tion?" Jerome laughed.

When Oscar heard this, his facial expression changed. The Leston family were the Earl n.o.bles from the Wander City State, and they were much more influential than Oscar's family.

"We can't miss such a rare opportunity." Caromon laughed. "But, it's funny to hear you guys claim to be able to do things that you can't do!"

Norman and Oscar both had an awkward looks on their faces. However, many people in this conference had a more influential family background than theirs. As such, they could not afford to offend any of them.

"They are overly confident indeed! The compet.i.tion hasn't even started yet! Could an F-grade pharmacist even have any hope of winning?" A calm voice was heard, and Steve and Christina could be seen walking over at that moment. It was Steve who had spoken.

Philip and Douglas were among the youngest and most distinguished people at the conference. But, that did not mean that the other people present were not important.

For example, Caromon, as well as several of the young people around him, were from the n.o.ble families of the Wander City State or other large enterprises. The Whitby Pharmaceutical Group and a few others had great influences in the State of Doyle, but their influence in the Wander City State was not as strong as the local n.o.bles'.

This was why, after entertaining more than a dozen people like Philip, Christina turned around to entertain Caromon. As Christina's male partner, Steve was acting as somewhat of a s.h.i.+eld for her, so he naturally tagged along.

"Miss Christina. I've been admiring you for a long time. Today, it's nice to finally have the chance to meet you," Caromon went up and spoke to Christina respectfully. "It's truly a great honor to meet such a beautiful lady at Lower Derek Yale."

...

Several people around Caromon also greeted Christina with great enthusiasm. Then, they turned their attentions to Steve. They consciously did not mention the previous incident between Steve and Philip.

After all, they did not have time to care much about a commoner like Steve. However, what Steve had said just now had made Caromon rather unhappy.

"I remember you. You are a pharmacist too?" Caromon glanced at Steve scornfully.

"Yes. He is an F-grade pharmacist. Christina introduced him before," Derek said coldly.

"Are you are also partic.i.p.ating in the compet.i.tion?" Caromon looked at Steve with a contemptuous look, clearly not taking Steve seriously at all.

This was because everyone knew that Steve was just Christina's s.h.i.+eld, and that he was born into a civilian family, without any impressive background. Compared to such ordinary civilians, people like Caromon had a natural sense of superiority.

"I just signed up for the compet.i.tion," Steve said.

"I see… For just being a mere F-grade pharmacist, you're speaking quite arrogantly," Caromon said.

"I remember that Mr. Clown, who was also from the Stanlos Base Camp, was also a F-grade pharmacist." Steve laughed.

"You dare to compare yourself with Mr. Clown?" Mantley jumped into the conversation and sneered. "Many pharmacists have predicted that Mr. Clown will become the youngest master pharmacist."

Steve had mixed feelings when he heard this. The clown pharmacist received compliments, while he was only snubbed. He did not know whether to be happy or proud at this moment.

"Well, at least our outstanding young people at the Stanlos Base Camp are not as bad as you think!" Steve said coldly.

"Enough!" Jerome suddenly interrupted Steve. "Mr. Steve, your kindness is very much appreciated, but we don't need you to stand up for us."

Steve frowned. He was unsure why Jerome had gotten so angry all of a sudden.

"Hmph! We are also n.o.bles! If we needed a civilian to stand up for us, we would be laughed at and mocked endlessly!" Oscar said.

Steve grinned, finally understanding what was going on. Oscar, Jerome, and Caromon, just like the others, did not take Steve seriously. After all, they were all n.o.bles, so Steve was inferior to them in terms of social status.
