177 In The Public Gaze

The underground base of the military base was actually built around the Original Gravity Tower, so any place in the entire military area lead to back to the Original Gravity Tower, which was obviously at the center.

Steve followed the map and went to the square where the Original Gravity Tower was located. He saw a high circular tower rising into the sky.

It was so tall, its highest point could not even be seen. The tower was stacked layer by layer, and the whole structure was made of some kind of black stone, but the black stone had a special metallic feeling to it. From an artistic point of view, it lacked lovely aesthetics that one would normally desire, but it had a kind of wild and natural artistic vibe to it.

The Original Gravity Tower covered a vast area. At least from Steve's position, he was unable to see the ends of the Original Gravity Tower on either side.

There was only one main door that led into the Original Gravity Tower, so Steve could see people coming and going around the square, even forming a lively market nearby. Some soldiers had set up stalls directly outside the Original Gravity Tower to sell their trophies and mission-acquired items.

There were also some buildings scattered around. It was like a small city, with bars, shopping malls, entertainment halls and so on. It was totally inconceivable to Steve that there would be a small town inside the military base!

Some of these stalls were manned by the soldiers themselves, while others were manned by outside vendors. The veterans and recruits were different. As they had already completed their basic studies and were a.s.signed to different units, they had more freedom to perform tasks freely, or do other things in their spare time.

This was the first time that Steve had seen so many veterans gathered together! He estimated that there were about 30,000 veterans gathered in the square!

Steve's arrival immediately attracted these veterans' attention. As such, he was watched wherever he went.

"Are you a recruit?" The voice of inquiry came from his side.

Steve turned to see a man with blue hair and black eyes. His face was rectangular and his eyes were sunken in. He was tall, too.

Steve felt a strong sense of strength emanating from him, accompanied by an aura of fresh blood. This was a soldier who had clearly killed people and spent many days on the battlefield! In fact, this could be felt from all of the veterans, as only original beings could enter the Original Gravity Tower, so there were no weaklings here!

"Yes," Steve responded with a laugh.

"Have you reached the original being standard?" The man, whose name was Caleb, questioned him again.

Before Steve could answer, there were several cries of surprise from the side of the road.

"It's him! That's Steve!"

"He's Steve, the leader who beat the veterans and refreshed the record of the group battle at the welcoming party!"

"It's him! He also defeated Antonio's five-man team, all by himself!"
