136 The Return Of The Hero

Seeing that Steve was not among the people who exited the chariot, both Elizabeth and Selma became disheartened and helpless once again.

"Where did all of you come from?"

"Did you see other people there?"

"Does this chariot have a license?"

The police did not stop asking questions, one after another.

"It's not my chariot." Tom sighed.

"It's mine. I am an F-grade pharmacist. Do I need to prove this?" Just then, a man's voice could be heard from deep inside the chariot. A man then walked out, holding a Pharmacist Certification Badge in his hand.

When the policeman saw the badge, he was in awe and said, "No sir, your badge is more than enough proof..."

Before the policeman had finished speaking, a beautiful figure rushed forward.

"Brother!!" It was Elizabeth, who ran straight into the man's arms.

The man was, of course, was Steve, and he was stunned. He held her tightly in his arms and laughed.

He then asked, "It's only been a few days. Did you miss me that much?"

"You finally came back! Do you know how much I worried about you?" Elizabeth embraced Steve, burying her head in his arms. She then started crying with joy.

Steve gently wiped her tears and laughed. "Silly girl, I promised you that I would come back alive."

As he spoke, he lowered his head and kissed Elizabeth's lips.

At that very moment, they had forgotten that there were other people around, as both of them were immersed in their own world, kissing pa.s.sionately.

Everyone at the scene was shocked by such a warm, romantic reunion. The police, in particular, as well as the other people who had come in for questioning, seemed to be shocked that Steve had come back alive. Then, when they saw this romantic reunion, they could not help but feel even more fascinated.

"Being young is so lovely!" Chief Constable Paul sighed.

"The young lad managed to escape from Collic and came back alive! That was no easy feat!"

"Is he Elizabeth's fiancé? The two of them are so handsome together!"

"He was the one who discovered Collic's evil plot. He's back!"

"Our hero is back!"

News spread quickly, and many people rushed over upon hearing it, all of them talking at once. After all, if Steve had not discovered Collic's evil plot and forced Collic to escape, they dared not imagine the devastation that would have befallen them!

The ballistic magical beasts would certainly not have restored their calmness so soon. Judging from past experiences, it would have taken at least a week for the outbreak of magical beasts to subside. However, this time it only took a single day to end!

Due to this expediency, the number of casualties was greatly reduced. So, naturally, the survivors were grateful to Steve.

Many people wanted to see for themselves how Steve, a mere teenager who was not even an Original Being, could battle Collic for such a long time and still manage to escape. At the same time, everyone looked at Steve and Elizabeth, secretly giving them their blessings.

Elizabeth's affections for Steve were clearly pure of heart, as for three consecutive days, she could not eat or drink. This was something that not everyone could withstand, only one who was truly sick with worry.

Among the crowd, some people looked upon the couple with envy. Selma was among them.

This was because she knew that no matter how hard she tried, it would never be possible for her to take Steve away from Elizabeth. After all, the man was so charming, only Elizabeth was worthy of him.

Their kiss lasted for a long time. When it was finished, Elizabeth leaned on Steve's shoulder, smiled, then fell asleep.

Steve was surprised at first by Elizabeth's seeming indifference. However, when he learned that Elizabeth had waited for him for three consecutive days, neither eating nor sleeping, he was deeply touched.

"My royal highness, I will surely fulfill my promises to you," Steve whispered, while he pinched Elizabeth's nose and carried her in his arms like a princess to their temporary residence.

As they made their way, everyone warmly congratulated Steve on his safe return.
