Chapter 28 - Dinner (1)

Su Feng immediately rose when Yang Minzhe appeared in the lobby. Although his eyes were light, it was as cold as winter, when he told him, "Manager Ren does not want to see you."

Su Feng glanced at him before saying, "Take me to her office."

"But you can't see her without an appointment," Yang Minzhe retorted.

Su Feng narrowed his eyes, "Let me see my fiancée," he gritted out through his teeth.

"...Your what?" Yang Minzhe asked, afraid of hearing it wrong. Engaged? It's a joke!

"Let. Me. See. My. Fiancée," Su Feng emphasized each word.

Yang Minzhe began to chuckle. "Mr. Feng, I did not think you were such a humorous man."

"It's not a joke!" he responded darkly.

Yang Minzhe froze. Could this be? Su Feng and Song Ren engaged? How was this possible? After a moment, the possibility clicked in his mind. Of course! Since Song Ren became the heiress, it's only inevitable that the Su and Song family would attempt to combine forces.

He was in a dilemma, to offend his lady boss or Su Feng? He debated for a few moments, while Su Feng patiently glared at him.

Yang Minzhe trembled, "follow me," he cowered and guided him to the primary office. After which, Yang Minzhe left, occupying himself to something else.

Song Ren appeared to be concentrating as she was attentively working on company data. She wore a tight pencil dress, hugging the curves of her body, her jet-black hair flat against her back. Su Feng paused by the threshold, wanting to imprint the image of her working in his mind. He still could not wrap his mind around his feelings for her.

Su Feng had experiences with different girls in the past, and none of them gave him a warm feeling except Song Ren. Although Song Ren was cold to him, she was loyal, intelligent, and sweet when treated well. He knew that he treated her terrible in the past, and winning her trust would require effort. But he was afraid that she would never accept him, neither now or in the future.

"Are you going to stand there forever or are you going to come in?" Song Ren asked without glancing up.

"How did you—" he began to say, removing his mask.

"Peripheral vision," she said with a sarcastic smile as she looked at him.

"Right," he said.

"Also, I figured Yang Minzhe would betray me," she began playfully, "Why are you here? You couldn't wait until I was home?" her voice changed.

"I would have, except you haven't been around much. Song Jinyi and Jun have kept me entertained with their instruments," he said painfully.

Song Ren smiled knowing that the twins were still practicing and they are not very good yet. She could imagine Su Feng have grown annoyed to madness.

"Have you eaten dinner yet?" he asked.

Song Ren's eyes narrowed, "What do you want?"

"What do you mean?" he asked puzzled.

"You asked me if I had dinner, but just ask me the question you truly want to ask," she said with a severe expression.

Su Feng gulped. "I wanted to ask if you will have dinner with me?" he asked nervously.

"That's all you had to do was get straight to the point."

Song Ren stared at him, distant and reserved before she exhaled a deep breath, "all right." Song Ren figured it was an excellent opportunity to set some boundaries between them.
