76 Protect The Secre

It's been about two days since Bella had informed me of 'the news'. At first, I thought I'd be able to handle it. I thought I'd be able to hide it and work on a plan in secret, I bet too much on my poker face being able to work wonders.

"Why are you so suspicious?" Ethan asked me.

"N-no reason."

He was onto me. Throughout the day he kept mentioning Kaylee and my face must have given something away. I thought my normal stern depression face was enough but turns out he was smarter than I thought.

"You're hiding something. I know you are."

He was persistent. He kept talking and talking. It was torture. I could hardly put up with him talking for a few minutes at a time, but now he hasn't left me alone since this morning.

"I-I don't know what you mean. I am perfectly normal, beep boop."

Luckily for me, my perfectly normal definitely not a robot routine, which I just made up, was something that no one could see through. My expression becomes as square as a machine and my eyes as dead as roadkill.

"Hmmm..." Ethan approached and investigated the robot.

"HMMMMMMMMMM." He kept hmming in my ear.

"HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM."

I'm going to hit him.

I'm going to hit him.

I'm going to hit him.

I had to keep thinking of situations in my head where I kill him just stop myself from hitting him. I imagined a scenario where we are long lost twins and he turned out to be evil so I killed him.

It does seem a bit complicated but it works.

"If you tell me, I'll buy you something."

Ethan resorted to money. Although it was tempting I was not going to falter. I wasn't going to accept any bribe.

"I'll do anything you ask until we graduate." Ethan proposed.

His offer was tempting. No! I can't! I must resist!

"I'm not hiding anything," I said.

"BUT YOU ARE!" He screamed alerting the cla.s.s to his presence.

"Can we get on with the work?" Sean said.

"SEAN!" Ethan changed target and locked onto him.

"YOU MUST KNOW!"

He was confident that something was happening. He attached himself to Sean in hopes that he would squeal, but Sean doesn't know anything.

"Oh, yeah," I said. "Sean does know."

Although I did just lie. It was a simple and easy way to get him off of my back. I needed some time to think of what it is I could possibly be hiding.

"PLEASE SEAN!" Ethan begged. "PLEASE TELL ME!"

At this point, he was on his knees begging to be told. He wasn't going to get anywhere except for embarra.s.sing himself. Is he crying?

"Pwease Swean!" I think he's crying?

"I don't know what you are talking about," Sean said.

"YOU MUST DO! WHAT ARE YOU HIDING FROM ME!"

With Ethan distracted, I managed to find a few seconds of thinking time. It wasn't long before he came back crying to me so I didn't really think of a good enough excuse.

"Listen, Ethan," I said. "I wasn't really hiding anything from you. It's just that. I might be getting a sibling."

It was an obvious lie, but it made sense. It was a stupid lie but I knew it would get him off my back for at least until he forgets about this day.

"REALLY?" He screamed even louder than before.

Maybe this was a bad idea.

"YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A SIBLING? IS IT A BROTHER? A SISTER?"

"Listen." I've gotten myself in a tight situation. "I don't know."

"Oh, I see. Well, I'm sorry for bugging you."

That was surprisingly easy. I don't really know what to do now.

I was worried that he would keep going but it seems like there is no issue. As long as he forgets about this conversation and doesn't tell his parents about this who will then tell my parents, it should be fine.

"Wow, I can't believe there will be another Owen. One of them is bad enough. I've already messaged my mum about this."

OH NO!

"You did what?!"

"Well, we should celebrate." The stupid grin on Ethan's face was punchable. Although this was 100% my fault I'm taking no blame for this.

I should try and stop him before my parents start to question things.

"Errr, Ethan?" I said.

"What is it?"

"I was kinda lying about the sibling."

Ethan's expression fell to the floor. He seemed devastated at the thought of me lying about it. He must have really wanted me to have a sibling.

"WHY WOULD YOU LIE ABOUT THAT?" He asked.

"I just thought it would be funny."

"I WAS SO HAPPY FOR A MINUTE. I THOUGHT THAT YOU WOULD FINALLY FIND SOMETHING TO GET YOU OUT OF YOUR DEPRESSION PIT. I THOUGHT THIS CHILD WOULD HAVE MADE YOU HAVE A COMPLETE DIFFERENT OUTLOOK ON LIFE."

I can see he is pa.s.sionate but isn't he a little too pa.s.sionate?

"Whatever," I said, brus.h.i.+ng all of this off and hoping to forget about it.

For the rest of the day, Ethan didn't shut up. He continued to talk till his throat bleed. He was super annoying and I found myself wanting to cry. When I next saw my parents I explained the whole situation to them about having a sudden child then came out of nowhere. Luckily I saved their marriage, although they did get a good laugh out of it.

The only person I can blame for this is Ethan. He did send the text after all.
