42 Bella's Brother

It was quickly approaching. An event that would either be the best day of my life or the worst day of my life. That's right. Valentine's day.

In typical Valentine's day fas.h.i.+on. I plan to give chocolates to Kaylee in hopes that she will pick me over Simon.

I debated many times in my head what kind of chocolates to buy, along with how many. I came to the conclusion that I should make them myself.

There is one slight problem with this, and that is I'm not allowed to cook things without supervision. Apparently almost poisoning the family and burning down the house means I have to be supervised. Personally, it didn't taste that bad. Whatever it was meant to be.

However this time I am determined to cook the perfect chocolate, and I'm even supervised. I originally asked Owen but he told me to go die in a hole and Sean was busy so I'm stuck with Bella, my sister.

Originally Bella was against the idea of me making Chocolate for a girl, but she realised that if she helped she could also taste my cooking. She was torn for a solid 30 minutes debating with herself to figure out if it was worth it or not.

"I'm still against the idea of you cooking chocolates for a girl…"

"Relax. She has a boyfriend."

"You seem to be pretty fine considering that. It's almost like you think you have a chance."

"Of course, I do. I'm your amazing big brother who can do anything. I only cried 4 times last night."

It may have been 5 but who's counting.

"I'd prefer if you cried zero times a night."

Aw, how kind. Sometimes it's like she cares too much, other times It's like she cares too little. What a strange sister I have.

"Right. So let's get started. Have you got a recipe?"

"Nope! I thought I could work all that out myself."

Bella looked at me with a face that seemed as if it was full of love. Almost like she was looking at a lovable idiot. Or maybe she was just looking at an idiot.

"Right ok… Well luckily I've cooked stuff before so I have some recipes lying around. Find one and take your pick."

Bella handed me a large stack of loose paper, all of which were torn and covered in food stains.

After looking through them for around 10 minutes I decided on some simple chocolate bites. They didn't seem too difficult. It was basically a ball of chocolate. What could go wrong?

"Ok, let's begin. First, weigh out the ingredients."

Ok, this shouldn't be too hard. It's just weighing ingredients. Flour doesn't weigh a lot so I a.s.sume this whole full bag is around 250 grams… Right?

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"

Apparently, Bella didn't like that I poured the whole bag onto the scales. Was that wrong?

"If it says 500 grams on the side of the bag, why would 250 grams be the whole bag? I don't think you are as smart as you claim to be?"

"It didn't feel like 500 grams."

Bella looked at me again, but this time it was clear to me that she thought I was an idiot.

"Give it here. Let's start over."

We were at it for several hours. We had burnt many attempts and poured salt instead of sugar into half of them. Bella was stressed out the whole time whilst trying to not stab me.

The kitchen was a mess with bits of melted chocolate all over the various surfaces. There was smoke coming from the oven so it seemed like we have to get a new one.

"Well, that took longer than expected. But at least we did it."

Bella didn't look pleased with my sudden optimism. She seemed extremely tired and looked like she would pa.s.s out from exhaustion.

"Now all you gotta do it is give it to her."

"If you don't mind me asking. Why did you help me with this?"

I was curious as to why she decided to help. I thought she was against me dating people but maybe she had a change of heart.

"Hmmm. I was against it originally, but then I thought when she rejects you, you'll be really depressed so I can comfort you and spend more time with you. Making sure that no one else can get to you. I'm actually really glad that you asked me. I don't want anyone else helping you with this."

Well ok then. This definitely isn't creepy at all. I kinda wish she wouldn't walk towards me with a knife in hand.
