25 The Tales Of Drizz And Gang Episode 3

It felt as if we were falling for hours, I couldn't tell which way was up, and I'm sure Nicholas has gone deaf from me screaming in his ear like a little girl. Nicholas was bragging about how it was all thanks to him s.h.i.+elding the fall but it was actually thanks to Eden who used a feather falling spell to stop us from hitting the ground and becoming pancakes.

Although we didn't hit the ground my head was still spinning from the fear of actually dying. It took me some time to regain my footing whilst Nicholas was already up and charging into the village sword first.

"That idiot is going to die without us. Eden let's go." Eden and I followed behind him as quickly as we could. We had no idea how many there were or if we stood a chance but we had no other option.

Nicholas darted into the centre of the village slas.h.i.+ng away at any wolves that tried to oppose him. He was successfully dancing around the das.h.i.+ng wolves in perfect harmony, dodging each slash whilst countering without any issue.

"As expected of a royal knight," I said to myself.

I situated myself on the top of the building that housed the most survivors. Perching on top like an eagle stalking its prey. Lining up every shot perfectly, aiming for the eyes of the wolves that tried to sneak off and ambush us from the back.

Eden stood in the village preparing a fireball spell, chanting words I couldn't understand. As the spell got closer to finis.h.i.+ng I noticed it slowly became unbearably hot, my aim was getting sloppy and my vision was starting to fade. Eden had created a fireball the size of a miniature sun and held it at the tip of her now demonic red staff. The sun showed no sign of stopping. At this rate, she would destroy the whole village.

I quickly ran over to her hoping that I could stop her, but I could hardly walk. The heat was too much for me to handle and Nicholas had already pa.s.sed out from wearing heavy plated armour.

"Eden!" I shouted.

"STOP THE SPELL." I tried to call her but she couldn't hear me. The roar from the flames was too great, my ears felt as if they were bleeding.

Eden kept chanting unaware of anything happening around her. Her eyes were glowing bright red as she funnelled more of her many into the spell.

"Just how much many does she have?" I questioned, trying to push myself closer to her to put an end to this.

All the wolves had already retreated or pa.s.sed out. The spell was too great even for them.

I had no other choice. I pulled out an arrow from my quiver and lined it up with Eden. I released the string watching the arrow pierced through the sky towards her, as the red hot metal tip scorched her arm. Dispersing the spell and scarring Eden.

I sat down with a sigh of relief and proceeded to catch my breath, before pa.s.sing out.

When I came to I was surrounded by human villagers looking at me as if I had something on my face. It turns out this village had never seen an Elf before and was curious about me. I didn't have time to lay around idly, I asked them where the others were and they pointed to what can only be described as a giant body of meat spread across the bed with his mouth wide open, drooly with a satisfied grin on his face.

I asked about Eden but they weren't sure where she had gone. They informed me that there were reports of some of the villagers were seen dragging her body away into a cave north of here.

I was worried about Eden. not only did I shoot her with an arrow to get her to stop but now she has been dragged away. I guess we better go save her.

I attempted to wake up Nicholas and struggled more than I did when stopping the fireball. I eventually got tired of hitting him so I went out to the village's well and poured water on his sleeping face. Finally waking him up.

I explained everything to Nicholas and everything that happened with Eden and the fireball. At first, he was wondering why he had pa.s.sed out and didn't notice the giant death ball looming above us during the fight.

"Ah see." Nicholas sat thinking to himself. "Well then, I guess we have no choice. LET'S GO SAVE OUR PARTY MEMBER."

"Who says we were in a party jacka.s.s."
