23 Ideal Date

"I've got a question for you?"

Immediately at the start of the lesson as soon as I sat down, Ethan had sprung up onto me and has started asking me a question, typically I'd be fine with whatever but for some reason I was worried.

"What is your ideal date?"

I didn't know why I was worried about this question, for some reason I felt anxious as if this would come to bite me later in life.

"Hmm? Ideal date, huh?"

I was a simple man, I didn't care for extravagant dates that required a lot of money, I was happy just to spend time with the person.

"I think I'd have to pick an Amus.e.m.e.nt Park. Spend the whole day together going on rides and just having fun, we could get lunch and dinner together and just have a chill time."

"Right. I bet you just want someone to hold your hand on the scary rides?"

Ethan was correct with that one, but I guess for me it's something I'd like to do when I get a girlfriend.

"What about you then, Ethan?"

"Hmm? Don't know!"

"So you asked me this question without having an answer to it yourself?"

"Ok ok, hang on a second let me think."

Some time had gone by and Ethan was deep in thought, he had spent almost the whole lesson sitting there thinking refusing to do work until he had given me a satisfying answer.

"I GOT IT!" Ethan shouted.

"Go on…"

"First! We spend the whole day together and enjoy some smaller activities, maybe something like a nice film or go to a typical date event, one where I can either show off how good I am or one where I can let her win. Then we could get dinner together, not anywhere too fancy but somewhere that doesn't scream 'I don't know what to do'."

"Really? I can't really see that from you? Anyway, why do you ask? Did Something happen between you and Kaylee?"

Ethan was surprised as if he had thought that I wasn't going to bring her up.

"Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr." Ethan.exe has stopped responding.

I think I've broken Ethan.

"Errrrrr, no. Nothing that you don't already know. I've been booking s.h.i.+fts when I know that she doesn't so I don't have to talk to her. I told her that I booked those days because they fitted best with my studying, but in reality, I was playing video games and didn't want to see her."

Makes sense for Ethan, she seems to have this opinion of him that he is super smart and has the position he does because he studies non-stop, but actually, he plays games too much and is just naturally smart. He does revise just only when exams are close.

"So what are you going to do? She is still with Simon right?"

"Yeah. I don't know. I want to get over her, I have to. It will only be bad for me if I don't, who knows what sort of mess I'll get into if I don't move on."

"Why don't you just pray every night and hope that she breaks up with Simon."

Ethan was shocked to hear me say that, or he was shocked that I guessed what he does every night as if it was a ritual.

"Well no matter what happens, if you end up with her then I'm happy for you if you don't then her loss. You're a great guy and if she can't see that then that's her problem."

I looked over to Ethan to see his cheeks had expanded and tears were running down his face, along with some snot dangling from the end of his nose trying to make it's way down.

"Why are you crying? You look so ugly when you cry?"

"THANK YOU!"

Ethan jumped on me and pushed his snotty face against my blazer.

"Why are you doing this? Stop, people are looking. Why are you so emotional?"

Ethan couldn't hear me, he was too busy ruining any image people had of him, or he was just rea.s.suring these images.

Ah oh well, I guess maybe I'll let him, he means well after all.
