Chapter 9

Making six large circles around the mirrors, at the center of each circle the mirrors were placed face up on the floor. In my own blood, I would write the name "Toki Aihara" and cast the "Cross-border spell". When Laham finished with his final confirmation, I settled into position.

"Your Highness, you have one chance. As soon as the dying boy is summoned do not hesitate to form a 'Soul Bond'. It will be fine."

"Ahh, let's get started."

I checked that Laham and Yarra stepped back to enhance the magical power. Fluctuating magic drifted around, it was sucked into the mirrors that were placed in the circles.

When the mirrors were filled with power the central mirror lit up, pulling out a dagger and cutting my finger, I wrote his name on the mirror. The words of blood magically floated in affirmation and I recited the spell.

"G.o.d of Heaven and Earth's Creation, please grant my wish. I beseech of you to transfer[1] 'Toki Aihara' from the copied[1] world, extending my blood as a show of virtue, l ask of you to bestow upon us, the spell, 'Cross-border'."

The main flow of magic extended and overflowed in indication, the mirror cracked. When the light gathered around the single mirror, something slowly appeared.

As the fragments of the broken mirror fell, the bundle of light dispersed. Soon, what appeared was the boy I always watched in my dreams "Toki Aihara".

"It's a success!"

"As expected of Your Highness!"

There was no time to spare listening to Laham and Yarra, I quickly approached. He's so small!

The small boy was nothing like how he appeared in my dreams. Thin and fair-skinned, he projected a faint and pitiful image. Crouching down, I lifted up his pale body, it was light and cold.

"—! Toki Aihara! Open your eyes!"

A limp body. A faint breath. You can't die.

"Your Highness, a 'Soul Bond'!"

Once again, I bit my finger and poured the blood into the boy's mouth. His ability to swallow was weak, blood was overflowing from his lips and I repeatedly forced him to drink it down. Next, applying a scratch on the center of the boy's left ring finger, I drank a little blood from it.

"Disgusting."

It was unimaginable that such unpleasant blood was circulating in a body. Even more, that the blood had no magical power.

Essentially, an exchange of magical power couldn't be helped. I put my hands in the boy's clothes and touched his skin directly. Slowly shrouding his heart in my magical power, the boy's painful expression became relieved.

"Tie my name, a.s.sam, onto Toki Aihara, blood to blood, flesh to flesh, soul to soul, allow my strength to provide protection for the weak, 'Soul Bond.'"

I watched my magic wrap around the boy, for now I breathed out a sigh of relief. A soul bond would connect a different world ent.i.ty to one's soul and tie their existence to this world.

As soon as I was a.s.sured of his safety, I held him tightly and at that moment my vision lurched.

"Your Highness!"

In my fading consciousness, I could see Yarra and Laham run forward. Looking at the face of the boy up close, I smiled as I took in his features. He's lovelier than in my dreams.

That was a far as I could remember, and then my consciousness slowly sank into darkness.
