123 Chapter 1 - Bird Stuck In A Cage

Her body laid on the cold white floor. Unexpectedly, there was not a hint of dust or dirt on the floor, but that did not stop one from asking why she was on the floor when there was a small white bed in the corner.

The woman's eyelids moved and when she managed to open her eyes she shut them hurriedly. The light in this room was too bright for her eyes to handle currently, she had to let them adjust.

Although her eyes were closed, it did not stop her from seeing where she was. A small cubic room which seemed to only have two things, one being a bed the other a toilet.

Her memory was a bit hazy right now, but she still tried to recall the moments before she woke up.

"Tsk." Clicking her tongue in annoyance she opened her eyes slowly. In front of her were beams of light constantly flowing out, together the multiple beams of light managed to look like the bars of a cell cage.

'The h.e.l.l?'

For the first time since she opened her eyes, she tried to move her hands but found that they were bound. Her black eyes gazed down and found her arms locked in some white cuffs.

"What sort of sick joke is this?"

She was enraged as she tried to break the white cuffs with brute strength. Yet, no matter how hard she tried they wouldn't break.

Her veins surfaced all over her arm as she gritted her teeth.

"It's no use trying, they won't break no matter what you do. Those cuffs were specially made to deal with EXO users of even your caliber."

A cold femine voice said, as a woman appeared in front of the cell.

Her dark purple hair stopped short just below her ear, allowing others to see her silver earrings which resembles the shape of a ring. She was wearing a lab coat while she held a tablet in her hands.

Behind her black-rimmed gla.s.ses her light purple eyes gazed at the woman. There was no emotion behind the look, but one could feel a sense of loneliness coming from the woman.

"You!"

The black haired woman's expression changed drastically upon seeing this dark purple haired woman appear. She knew her, she knew her well.

"I should have known long before that something was going on, but now I fully understand. You're a traitor to not only me but your family as well."

Adjusting her gla.s.ses with her index finger, the dark purple haired woman lowered the tablet that she held in her hand.

"You know nothing."

"I saved you from them, yet now you go and join them? What was the purpose of escaping then? For what reason?"

The dark purple haired woman scoffed as she turned her head slightly.

"Saved? You d.a.m.ned me the moment you let me live. Even you yourself only managed to harm one of them, and we both know he wasn't their strongest member. I told you the only way to end it all was for me to die, but you persuaded me to live. I was already labeled as a target by my own government due to my foolish actions, there was no way for me to return home. After you left, I met their leader and was given an ultimatum. You, or my daughter. Tell me, what would you have done?"

Anger filled the black haired woman's eyes, she'd do anything to protect her own family except betraying those close to her.

Instead of las.h.i.+ng out, she took a deep breath and calmed her nerves. What's been done has already happened, there was no changing it now.

"I don't even care anymore Diana, just leave."

Diana was silent for a moment, but she turned around getting ready to leave.

"Just know, your only a.s.set is what's in your head. They've already extracted your EXO ability, once they get what's in there, you'll be useless to them."

Diana thought about looking back, back towards the person she used to call a friend but she couldn't.

"I know."

Diana mumbled those words as she clenched her hand.

Even the greatest hero's can fall, Diana who was once hailed as a genius was a prime example. She had it all, power, influence, wealth, and a vast amount of resources. Now look at her, everything she had was stripped away, and the only thing that was left was the knowledge she held in her head.

It was the only thing keeping her alive.

"For someone who was given limited access you surely know how to make your way around this place."

A voice emerged from the shadows as Diana exited the room she was in.

A s.h.i.+ver ran down her spine and she stopped in place.

In this place, she was being watched. There was no freedom for her anymore, but she couldn't stop here. There is and always will be a way out, she just hasn't found it yet.

For now, she had to play the cards she was dealt.

"A wingless bird, and unethical genius. Your move was made, and you've used you get out of jail for free card. Her return is near, and soon she shall spin the wheel. When her time is up, what move will you make next?"

After a long and tiring flight, Nick's plane landed j.a.pan. It was his first time being anywhere outside of the United States, but this was not a field trip for him. He knew two things, one, his sensei told him many months ago that she was returning to her hometown, which was here in j.a.pan. Secondly, Vance came here looking for her due to his worries.

At this time, Nick did not know the wheels of fate was spinning and leading him into what would seem to be something bigger than himself.
