Part 26

In order to find my quiet place, I often have to don headphones and drown out the world around me. Sadly, cla.s.sical music isn't my jam (gives me a headache), so I try to play music that inspires me and fills me with the emotion required for a specific scene. Below is a partial playlist of the music I listened to while writing Beautiful Crazy. For a complete playlist, please see my website (www.kaseylane.com).

"Light a Way" by Volbeat.

"Big Bad Handsome Man" by Imelda May.

"World in Flames" by In this Moment.

"Alias" by In Flames "Collapse" by Zeds Dead (featuring Memorecks).

"What's Mine Is Yours" by Sleater-Kinney "Sound of a Revolution" by Sonic Boom Six "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis Presley "11:11" by Rodrigo y Gabriela.

"The Bleeding" by Five Finger Death Punch "Dear G.o.d" by Avenged Sevenfold "Into the Ocean" by Blue October.

"Lullaby for a s.a.d.i.s.t" by Korn "The Outlaw Torn" by Metallica "Top Yourself" by The Raconteurs "Grow Old with You" by Matthew Mayfield.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS.

It's been my private dream to be a published author for a long time. It wasn't until my husband, Jeff, finally told me to stop talking about it and go do it that I signed up for a SavvyAuthors NaNoWriMo event. It turns out I had some stories to tell.

This book would still be growing old on my laptop without the help of so many people. It really does take a village. It started with my husband, the hero of my very own happily ever after, and ends with my incredibly patient and awesome editor, Cat Clyne, and all the talented people at Sourcebooks. From my first editor and friend, Blake Leyers, to my first beta reader and the sister of my heart, Melody, to my oldest friend and favorite tattoo artist, Nikki. My agent, Cate Hart (who has the uncanny ability to communicate anything in Dave Grohl gifs), was the first person to see past the stilted early draft and see my potential. She pulled my voice from my head and helped make Kevan and Mason real. My original critique partners, RJ Garside (my first writer friend and biggest supporter) and Jade Chandler (we learned together along the way), helped turn me into a real writer and told me the hard truths about what needed to change and what didn't. My newest CP, Kaylie Newell, is my literary BFF, twinsie, and PIC. I adore you and am thankful every day for your friendship. I will always be grateful to my SISters and their support, especially my conference wife, Sarah Vance-Tompkins. Without my weekly coffee shop meetings of the Hope Junkies, I would still be creating in a vacuum. Thank you for your friendship and counsel Kaylie, Maisey, Gwen, Megan, Lisa, Holly, and Vella. And lastly, the never ending love of my entire wonderful, crazy family, especially my parents, Robin and Walt, and my amazing kids, Abigail and Max. Without my family's support, I wouldn't have been able to steal enough time to write, rewrite, revise, rinse, and repeat.

This book is for all the misfits, the survivors, the music lovers, the believers, the freaks, and the geeks. You are my people. ***

ABOUT THE AUTHOR.

Award-winning author Kasey Lane writes s.e.xy romances featuring music, hot guys with ink, kick-a.s.s women, and always a happily ever after. A California transplant, she lives with her high school crush turned husband, two smart, but devilish kids, two dumb-as-rocks papillons, and a bunch of bossy chickens in the lush Oregon forest. Visit her at www.kaseylane.com, where you'll find her swearing too much and talking about the San Jose Sharks, tattoos, and Jack White.
