69 Tribute 6

"I want you to be on standby, on my command, punch in the numbers that I call out to you and go to where Miss Zhang is, I'll give you the coordinates to get there without an hitch. What's her status?"

Yang Lin listened as the other man spoke, he could hear the sound of keyboards at the background.

"Young Miss Zhang had cuts and hip injuries with some skin taken off during the crash."

Yang Lin had to revert back to the formal way in which Zhang Mi was to be addressed by those that worked under her.

"I see them working on her, we don't have much time, President Zhang could be arriving at any moment, once you get in do as I say and don't question anything!"

Hearing the steel in Guo Ru's voice none knew better than Yang Lin not to mess with him, as someone that had worked in the police force for many years, his bites were usually worse than his barks. The call ended with promise to call back in exactly fifteen minutes.

Prior to this time, Guo Ru had warned Yang Lin to take with him an handgun, not that he was the type that was easily driven to violence, but if it meant saving the heiress to the Zhang Corporation, Yang Lin was about ready to do about anything for her.

True to his words, exactly fifteen minutes from the last call, Yang Lin heard the distinct vibration from his phone and picked up.

"You have but five minutes to get the situation at Miss Zhang's under control, I don't need to tell you what to do in order to achieve that! Are the things I gave to you outside the court with you?!"

Yang Lin remembered Guo Ru b.u.mping into him and handing a small dark bag to him, which he later took apart to place within his coat. It was an handgun and a few canisters of knockout gas. He was surprised to see the other man, who spoke very little within the few seconds of their meeting, as a way to remind him of his ident.i.ty.

"I'm ready and will be heading in now!"

Yang Lin matched his tone to that of his former mentor and parent, letting the man know that he was going to take the mission seriously.

Luckily, there was no security posted outside the doors to the surgical unit. The floor was designed in such a way that it had a post operating room filled with just ten beds for those that came out of surgery to recover and a ward known as the cardiac ICU unit, for patients that had severe heart conditions that couldn't be treated in a regular ward.

At this time both wards was like a graveyard, from the moment Yang Lin came in, not even a single soul pa.s.sed by, one could a.s.sume the place was empty of people, but his sharp ears picked up someone's laughter coming from one of the units, it felt closer to where he sat by the plastic yellow chair, if he could place a guess, it was most likely coming from the post OP room. The other ward was many feet away from it. Separated by restrooms and utility closets in between.

Yang Lin rose up to put on a dark glove and scanned his bright surroundings, looking up to see a dark orb at the ceiling and knew that it was the surveillance camera, but wasn't worried because he was confident that Guo Ru will have it taken care of.

An electronic pad with some numbers was by the door and Yang Lin got close to punched in the codes that Guo Ru had earlier called to him, the device changed from the "red engaged" state to a "green disengaged" one, as the gla.s.s doors slid open effortlessly.

Bending down before making a left, this was to avoid being seen on time by those within the operating room. The door leading to the surgical room of the heiress of Zhang Corporation was surprisingly unlocked, probably because the hospital thought the single security door at the main entrance leading to both operating room was enough protection to their patients and staff.

The flaw in their security design helped the young man perform his mission quite smoothly. So focused were they on the procedure, that none of them realized that a gun was pointing in their direction from the doorway. It was only moments after that they turned to see who it was and that was solely based on the body language of someone from their team.

It was the Anesthesiologist a woman in blue surgical gown and cap like the rest, who initially saw the shocking display by the door, before this time her eyes kept moving from the device that monitored Zhang Mi's vital signs on the monitor and the other device that controlled the medication that was going into her body, while making small talks to the others in order to keep from s.p.a.cing out during the procedure.

The circulating nurse whose job was to jump in and provide a.s.sistance to the scrub nurse and at times to both doctors and anesthesiologist. She was the only one that wasn't actively partic.i.p.ating in the surgery because of not being clean enough, as her task was to make sure that everyone had what they needed to get the surgery done, while the scrub nurse handed the instruments to the doctor or first a.s.sist, with their attention away from the door and focused on the patient and doctors. The doctor and first a.s.sist was focused on Zhang Mi's unconscious form, while the circulating nurse was looking at the staff partic.i.p.ating in the surgery.

Therefore, everyone's attention except those of the anesthesiologist was away from the door.

"Oh my G.o.d!!!!!!!What the h.e.l.l!!!!! The door..."

The fifty something year old woman who was visibly shaken, didn't get to complete what she was about to say, as the rest of them turn to see what she was pointing at, only when they saw the man with a gun pointing at them, did their impa.s.sive expression turn to one of utter shock and mind numbing fear.
