“Does the subcontinent plane have such creatures?” Saleen decided to ask after noticing the look Su had on his face when he saw the demonic spirit.

“The demonic race is the enemy of most races. Great Mage, it will be very perilous to keep it by your side.” Even though the youth could not understand what Saleen told the demons, he could decipher their actions.

The four demons surrounded the demonic spirit, treating it in a haphazard manner. The treatment provided by the demons was questionable, but the demonic spirit did not dare resist, it simply gritted its teeth. Of the four demons, only Cuisi had the ability to use spatial equipment. He took out a torn armor, giving it to the demonic spirit.

“In the future, you will be our slave.” Cuisi patted the demonic spirit on its shoulder.

“Very straightforward,” Saleen laughed. Given the power of this demonic spirit, Saleen could not even be bothered to sign a contract. The number of contracts a mage could sign was related to how much mental strength they had. Even though Saleen had a vast amount of mental strength, he would not waste it on such a low grade creature.

Nailisi felt the same way too. Nailisi only cast the Ultimate Shapes.h.i.+fting Skill on Cuisi and company because they were useful. This demonic spirit would be left alone with its ferocious appearance.

It was possible that the four demons felt that this demonic spirit was too weak as no one tried to argue with Cuisi. The remaining three demons pushed the demonic spirit to one another. Eventually, Aiwa recruited this demonic spirit as his slave.

Demons were cunning and scheming. Afraid that the demonic spirit could not be controlled, they wanted to sign a demonic contract to prevent it from attacking Saleen abruptly. Aiwa gave the demonic spirit a random name; Grimace.

“Viscountess, that big creature is back!” some swordmaster hollered. From the chariot, Saleen looked into the distance. The Sindika, whose body was drenched in blood, was making a beeline for the camp compound. There was an unknown number of fish beasts on the Sindika’s body, chewing away furiously at his flesh.

The fish beasts on the Sindika’s body were mostly the size of a fist, their mouths were filled with rows of sharp teeth. Unlike the two rows of teeth found in a normal creature half the surface area of their mouths was filled with teeth.

This abyssal creature actually possessed the fire attribute. He, however, had lost his skin. Even before he could recover, he had ran into an astronomical number of newly hatched fish beasts. The stench of blood on his body immediately drove them berserk, causing them to attack him in huge hordes.

The Sindika’s muscles twitched continuously, but there was no way to stop the pervasive attacks of the fish beasts. The fish beasts who fell to the ground immediately sprung up again, lunging at his body.

“I will do it.” When Saleen saw the mages preparing to cast their spells, he stopped them.

Saleen set a Swamp Illusion along the path the Sindika was traveling in. Before the Sindika could enter the area under the influence of the Swamp Illusion, dozens of icicles suddenly emerged from the ground. The Sindika could not control its steps. After cras.h.i.+ng into the icicles, it fell into the Swamp Illusion.

The Swamp Illusion was actually a level-3 spell, it could not contain a grade-8 creature like the Sindika. Saleen only wanted to slow down his movements. Thereafter, the Swamp Illusion began burning.

The fish beasts atop the Sindika’s body detested magic flames, they did not even like the flames from the natural environment. Even though the area of the Swamp Illusion was not huge, it could encompa.s.s the Sindika. The moment the flames began burning, all the fish beasts began falling off the surface of its body. Only the fish beasts who had infiltrated his body continued swaying their tails, desperately trying to wriggle into his flesh.

At this point in time, the strongest alchemical crossbow in the camp compound fired an arrow. This four yard long arrow produced a strange whiz, penetrating the Sindika’s torso. Slightly more than half the arrow pierced into him.

No matter how strong this abyssal creature was, it was now on the verge of death after being tortured by the Mechanical Soul and fish beasts. The attack by that large alchemical crossbow finally destroyed the Sindika’s last breath. It crashed into the ground, ruffling hundreds of pounds of black sand.

This alchemical crossbow was originally used for attacking cities, it could burst a small city wall with one arrow. The arrow head was not only sharpened with crystals, magic arrays were added too. The swordmasters could not operate such an alchemical crossbow alone, a mage was also required. This alchemical crossbow was less accurate than a miniature alchemical crossbow. The Sindika had fallen into a trap though. Given its colossal body, even an inferior archer would not miss the shot.

“Unscrupulous…” The Sindika only managed to mutter one word before dying. This poor grade-8 creature, if it had not lost most of his powers in the spatial pa.s.sageway, the Mechanical Soul would not have succeeded in its sneak attack. The Mechanical Soul had ruined the Sindika’s third eye, causing him to lose his last few long-range attack methods.

The people in the camp did not dare be careless. A war puppet and a fully constructed puppet were deployed. The body of the Sindika was still ablaze with flames. The two puppets went in for a close observation under command. After the all clear was given, Lex then sent people to dissect the Sindika’s body.

An abyssal creature might not have a magic nucleus, however, the resources on any part of a grade-8 creature was valuable. Had this taken place on the abyssal plane, no one, other than Bain, might be able to resist this creature. Even though the Sindika was filled with injuries after the chewing of the fish beasts, his bones remained in perfect condition, even the ones in the torso region. The gigantic alchemical arrow had went through the crevices of his bones after penetrating his body.

If a large alchemical crossbow was absent, it would be extremely difficult to kill the Sindika. It would also be very tedious to kill all those fish beasts if it was not for Saleen’s water and fire spells. At the very least, the process would have consumed a huge amount of resources. Saleen and Lex would not have any dispute over a grade-8 creature, each person took whatever they needed. The skin belonged to Lex while the bones went to Saleen. Items like the fascia could be divided into two equal portions. The remaining things were the flesh and intestines, which Saleen took to feed the lightning dragons.

Saleen and Lex no longer needed to do such menial tasks. Seizing this short period of free time, Saleen and Su signed a contract.

The enforcement of a follower contract was not very strong. The only clause which could not be violated was that neither party could harm the other. Since Su understood a range of languages, Saleen arranged for him to learn the Myers mainland language first because Saleen realized that it would be difficult for him to return to the subcontinent plane.

The four empires shared a common language, but the n.o.bles would have to study the language of each nation, while the average civilian never got such an opportunity. Su needed to learn the common language first, so that he would not be reduced to being a mute on this plane.

Mages never faced many barriers in the learning process of a language. They could use special magic to facilitate the process after all. When Saleen was at a tender age, he had already grasped many languages. A swordsman did not have many shortcuts, so Su could only adapt slowly.

The arrow shot into the Sindika’s body was retrieved. The arrow head was damaged and the magic array was also destroyed, so it had to be refined once more.

Spatial pa.s.sageways continued appearing in the vicinity. These pa.s.sageways were unregulated, and the connected planes were also very weird. Not every spatial pa.s.sageway yielded creatures, some only produced rocks and plants. Some of the spatial pa.s.sageways existed for a long duration, so they had to be guarded vigilantly, there was no room for complacency. Some others only appeared for a split second.

The fighting process was guided by a mage. When there was no need for a mage, a mage would not attack. The swordmasters had alchemical crossbows, flying axes and javelins. All these weapons had huge consumption levels, but as a precaution against unexpected events, the mages were very conservative, they tried their best not to deplete their magic chords.

Fortunately, at least half of the slain creatures left behind excellent materials. In comparison, the profit could negate the depletion.

As Su observed the warriors battle, he was full of admiration. He could tell that the swordmasters were inferior to him, but with factors such as equipment and coordination, they could handle those newly emerged creatures effortlessly.

Many of these tactically coordinated movements were not present in the subcontinent plane. Back in the subcontinent plane, countries were tiny, and the society’s ideals in each country was inclined towards individual valiance. A powerful knight could lead a group of farmers into war, their equipment was also not as good as that in the Myers mainland.

“I wonder what has happened to my hometown. The borders of my country aren’t too peaceful, the half elves are eroding the surrounding land while the orcs are experiencing a famine. By winter, the nearby cities have to be invaded. I can’t even return though. Even if I do, I have not finished the trial, so I cannot represent my family to join the army.

“Su, are you thinking of going back?” Saleen’s experiences were hundreds of times more complicated than that of Su’s, so he could understand Su’s worries.

“Sir, my hometown… needs warriors.” After finis.h.i.+ng this sentence, Su laughed shyly, then said, “I know, traversing the planes is something which I cannot achieve though.”

Saleen remained silent. If one wanted to tear through s.p.a.ce and traverse through it, their standard would have to be higher than that of grade-11. Even a grade-10 person was very rare on the Myers mainland. Su was pretty pitiful. Like Nailisi, he was trapped on the Myers mainland.

“Sir, I am still pretty lucky.” Su’s psychological state remained healthy, as he told Saleen, “If I didn’t meet all of you, I might have been dead already.”

Saleen’s heart stirred. The events in the Purgatory Desert were strange. This chaotic s.p.a.ce was like a natural hunting ground. Many creatures were drawn towards it, there was also be sudden rain to allow the fish beasts to hatch.

There were too few records regarding the Purgatory Desert, Saleen could not deduce anything at all.

Setting aside his thoughts temporarily, Saleen asked, “You know how to ride a horse, right?”

“Yes.” Su had long been very envious of those skeletal warhorses. Back in the subcontinent plane, there were many death mages, but it was too expensive to hire them. The value of a skeletal warhorse far exceeded that of a piece of magic armor.

Saleen released a skeletal warhorse from the Green Spirit, letting Su ride on it. It then became much more convenient for the both of them to interact. Su kept standing outside the chariot window. By getting atop a horse, his height would just reach the window.

“What weapons are you good at wielding?”

Su pondered, then said, “The weapons in the subcontinent plane might be different from the ones here, but I like to use blades. I don’t really care about the style, as long as it’s long enough.”

Saleen selected four weapons from his Demonic Bangle, then he gave them to Su. One of the weapons was the double-edged serrated knife. This knife was more than three yards long. Originally, it was crafted for Wild Bear. But during the production process, something went wrong, causing the center of gravity to be s.h.i.+fted backwards. Wild Bear could not get used to it.

“Saleen, the frequency of the appearance of the spatial pa.s.sageways has lowered, we have to leave.” Lex had been monitoring and calculating, and told Saleen at this point in time.

Saleen nodded. He recalled the demons to the war chariot, leaving behind the fully constructed puppets. The materials in this camp compound were costly. The swordmasters dismantled it bit by bit, before Lex put it away in the G.o.d’s Ring. Then the team prepared to leave.

At this point in time, the light in the sky had gotten more intense, all the mages could feel the spatial vibrations.

This chaotic s.p.a.ce was going to disappear soon. Everyone prepared to cast magic in case there were any unforeseen circ.u.mstances.
